Doug from Canada here. THANK YOU for the video. I have this problem on mine. I priced out the 'new' one piece replacement plate. You ready for this? $350.00 Canadian. So you know I am going to do this. You Rock!!!
Thank you Doug, for watching and the comment! Wow! That is pricey! I hope the video helps and you get the tractor back up and running. Have a good week! See ya in the next one!
I have a new tractor just like this with only 100 hours and I had the same issues and had no idea how to fix it. Your video was spot on, I got mine fixed and I am back to moving dirt in just an hour or so. Thank you for the video I really appreciate it.
Thank you Paul, I am really glad that you're back to work with the Massey. When I posted these "fix it" videos I was hoping that they would help somebody so I thank you for taking the time to comment and letting me know that the video helped. Thanks again.
You tube and the internet has helped me with so much with fixing stuff around the house, cars, and tractors. Glad you were able to get it fixed yourself. Great video!
Im glad you got the hydraulic joystick fixed, If you're planning on a light bar make sure its shock proof, dust proof & water proof. That way you won't have to ever worry about it getting ruined while doing a job in any weather condition. Also try buying a Cree LED one, Cree LED's usually draw the least amount of power in LED's & also output the most lumens ( Light ). That way less electricity is being drawed from your tractor to power all your Cree LED lights. They also last longer then the normal LED's.
I had to find this video to watch it again as my lever (other one) did the same thing. I remember watching you do this a few years ago and the old memory bank came through for me. Thanks so much for all that you do ;P. I believe you have just saved my butt on this.
Thank you Mathew! Glad the bank is still full. lol I appreciate you letting me know the video helped. Hey when you get a chance you might want to check out my newest video. It might be something you would like! Have a good weekend! See ya in the next one!
Glad we could be of assistance. Love watching your videos and putting the Massey Ferguson to work. I wish I could play in the dirt like you get too. On LED you might night need a full lightbar. We've sold some LED and our customers like the 2 smaller LED Lights so they can point them directional versus the expense of one big lightbar you can save some cash and add multiple lights versus one solid bar.
Thanks for the video! We have the same joystick on the front-end loader on our tractor, and it started having the same issue about a year and a half after we bought it. Our hay guy managed to rig it up, probably something similar to what you did, and it lasted about another year and a half before more issues. According to the dealership, it's a common issue with this design and the new replacement parts, the screw-on stud has been eliminated in favor of a one-piece casting that includes the stud, so no way for it to come loose. Unfortunately, they charge over $150 just for the plate. Hope your fix continues to hold after 4 years -- ours did not, but we did not have the benefit of the leak stop stuff you mention, and had only used red locktite. Unfortunately, things were so badly stripped the second time it came loose we were forced to buy the new part!
Thank you Adam for watching and the comment! It is still holding but that is after I took it back off and put a weld on it. There is a company that makes a replacement part that is cheaper and a lot better from what I'm told by other users. Here is the info if you ever need to get another one. "If you are having a problem with your CB65/75/85 backhoe or L105E/L135 loader valve linkage support stand breaking. We have our billet replacement available ready to ship. $109 shipped. Ohhh Yeahhh Buddy. Excellent...just excellent! Saved you time, money, and a whole lot of inconvenience. Thanks Doug from Vahrenberg Implements. This is good timing, John. Thumbs up and have a good weekend.
Thanks John. I got my LEDs from Ebay and did my own assessment. I only paid $40-ish dollars for four big ones then maybe $20-ish for two smaller ones that I don't use. The smaller ones are not bright enough for me. I'll make a video on my set-up and pull out receipts and stuff and where I got all the different parts. Hey, keep us informed on the temperature gauge thing. I think Mr Teddy Bear had a temperature gauge issue sometime back. Can't rightly remember. Later.
Hydraulic pressure issue whit the backhoe and didn't spot it yet but talk whit a good friend of mine and we think we find will keep you inform. Still too cold to play whit the backhoe wet.
Thanks for the info, I have the GC2410 and found UA-cam as well as tractor forums indispensable. I have 270 hours on mine and have completed so many projects with this little tractor. Its always there for me.
Had very similar issue with my tractor/backhoe joystick. I broke the plate on the joystick as it caught on my shirt dismounting and it flops just like yours did. So, your fix gives me hope that I may be able to fix it myself. Thx.
Congrats Robert Daylll. You'll love your Massey GC1710. It's a beast and holds up well. Take a look at video I made about a hydraulic leak on FEL connectors that were real easy to fix. So check your GC1710 over. Have some fun. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/i2m0yLWFMRk/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video. I used this knowledge to fix this problem on mine several times... Got tired of it and complained to dealership. Turns out they created a new part that has the pin molded into it so there is no more screw to back out.
I saw a video where that molded part broke off & he was making a new one out of steel. I got called away before he finished, so I don't know how it turned out. My problem is the valves seem to be sticking, move it a couple of times & it would feel free, but would go right back to sticking. I was digging out a small stump & it became hard to work the joystick. Looks like I got a job ahead of me.
Thanks for the video. I hope not to have any problems with the gc 1720. I have a 5 led square I bought from tractor supply that is on a atv and takes a pounding and works great. I am going to be changing the stock backhoe work light to the same one on the atv. On the atv it is like daylight and cost around $30.
Great video, our Mazzotti backhoe did the same thing! However, the part was cast not bolted on. Mazzotti backhoe s are made in Europe and good luck finding parts. Fortunately, I was able to find the name of the controls in the manual. Found them in the Netherlands... had them 2 weeks later!
Glad you were able to find the parts and fix it! That is what is good about the Massey. You can fix a lot of stuff yourself! Thanks for the comment JD and you have a good one!

Great videos. Just had my 1710 delivered this week. One of my hydraulic lines was just hand tite and leaked god now's how much fluid before I noticed. When I look in the site glass I can't tell if the fluid is that clear or I'm that low. Can you clearly see the fluid in yours? Thanks for posting all these videos. They really helped me decide which sub compact to buy.
The BH stays on my 1710 so I use a telescopic mirror and a flashlight. While it is running I look in the glass and can see a clear line the oil is golden brown. Thanks Scott, for the compliments and for watching. CONGRATS on the new tractor I think you will love it. There are so many projects you can do with it. I hope you will post videos.
Great video, if that happens to mine, I'll know what to look for.. Thanks, and thanks for supporting my channel as well, you've been loyal. Yeah, Vahrenberg in MO , they are great and very helpful, I wish I lived closer to them, they have good deals.
