I think it may be 250k or 300k prowess, not 200k prowess. It's also possible that recent patches have removed this matchmaking quirk. Sorry for the confusing info!
Im a Raijin at about 180k and iirc i've been matched with several G.O.Ds (on their Side Character ranked kishin or Something) in ranked with about 380k although that might have been Happening before the announced Changes were implemented. Most of the time im fighting people with about 250k.
I was facing players with 400k+ prowess when I was Fujin, in both ranked and quick match months ago. Even now I'm still getting 250k+ players consistently, including 300k+. If there was a hard limit, it must have been for only one patch because I can say for almost the entire life of the game it's not a thing.
Great video, so if someone is mashing, don't mash back first, make them respect you by doing frame traps, then once they respect, then start your mix-up game, get it 👍 if they don't respect carry on with frame trap i just learn alot in one video and lars
Great coaching, Phi. I always find it funny when people say, "why didn't you tell his this or that to win?!" People forget that getting better at Tekken isn't about winning the match at hand. It's about making incremental improvements on some aspect of the game over time. Losing is a part of learning. Focus on learning and wins will come naturally before you know it.
Give the person who made that intro a massive raise, holy. Watched this live, was pretty fun to see how quick Max picked up a lot of stuff and then got to Bushin.
Man, what an entertaining watch. Learning from you, while I watch you teach him, is so fun. And honestly, beneficial for any player. All of these concepts are applicable to everyone. This is great, man
Really cool to see the way you teach. I am studying to become a school teacher in Germany, and I personally tend to give way too much info, especially if I'm passionate about the topic. The insights at the end really helped me understand the value of selecting the important stuff. Thanks for all the videos c:
That intro was amazing! I’m at this point in my Tekken career as well, I need to lab and refine my play style, I play Bryan and at Raijin it’s getting pretty difficult to play without taunt pressure and advanced combos! Been adding Tekken kings/gods for advice…some have offered great advice that changed my game plans against certain characters, I love how max is trying to take it in and make use of his kit! Super cool to see people grow and evolve like the rest of us casual players.
One discrepancy here is that at 8:00 Phi says that now you only fight people below 200K prowess if you've never hit Tekken King. I just hit Bushin yesterday, but the night before, I was grinding and fought a Tekken Emperor Heihachi that also had a Tekken Emperor Jin, Tekken King Eddy, another character at Tekken King, and even a Raijin Lee. I believe his prowess was like 275K. I was sitting at around 198K
@@PhiDX completely fair ha I was definitely fighting Tekken Gods on secondaries before the patch, so it's still a good change. At Bushin, I should be able to beat the occasional Emperor anyway haha
This was actually changed with the latest patch. They just didn't write it directly, they called it playing more often with people of your/closer rank. Only way to do it without crazy long q time is to reduce the prowess reqs.
I saw that on Max's channel, but here I am anyway :) I love that content, and it was so cool to see you speak instead of a still image Thank, this content was amazing, I wish he did that for Tekken 7, this game was great.
The Phi/Max intro was a banger, and it was cool to see just how effective your coaching was even with a player with decades of legacy FG experience (even if not specific legacy Tekken experience) like Max is.
Been looking forward to this! Catching this live was some of the most fun I've had watching Tekken 8 since launch. Good stuff and great job coaching Phi! 👍
Wait I love this intro. I love the collab especially because Max was the first big Tekken creator I watched. He not only enjoys the game but he has a positive attitude for it even when he loses. I strive to be him in that aspect.
I seriously need a PhiDX voice over reaction whenever I play because you'd be hyping me up so damn hard 😂 your reactions throughout Max's streams the first time and yesterday were fucking golden bro
Nice notes at the end. I think Sajam also said something similar in the past also. It's much easier to learn offense than defense because defense is basically learning the rest of the cast while offense is just learning your own character's
As a Lars main hovering Tekken King / Emp, I enjoyed wathcing Max's play here and lowkey picked up some tech too. 16:42 that sequence with LEN in heat was CLEAN
Vídeo was great and I appreciate you sharing ❤... The unfortunate part is UA-cam, .. two unskipable adds every 3 minutes were way too much.. it breaks the pacing 😢
7:20 is there more info about what players the matchmaking system serves against you? I'm around red ranks at the moment, but at some point I played a bit Claudio to get my mind off from learning Bryan. I accidentally got him to mighty ruler and got bored of him because I felt like I didn't need to put any effort into him compared to other characters. Atm I'm playing Heihachi and Devil Jin between orange and red ranks and it feels like half of the players put against me are people who's main is at Fujin. Did I accidentally hit the cap when I got my Claudio to mighty ruler? Atm it honestly feels like most of the players I'm up against are out of my league with muuuuch better technical skills than I have.
@PhiDX that's fair, it's usually used in a derogatory way. In the video it kind of sounded like you guys were framing it as the honorable Lars player vs the mashing online scrub when that Kazuya actually had great timing for his rank and was preventing himself from getting bullied into a corner by Lars strings/flowchart. He knew the match up.
"He is a masher, just frame trap him!" *Frame traps are working* Few minutes later.. 35:15 "I'll try to get him on some timing here" and gets blown up hitting buttons mid string
Hey Phi, so I can definitely say without a shadow of a doubt the TK 200k prowess threshold is not a thing, highest I’ve hit with Lars is Bushin, I don’t have any other characters with ranked records, and I get paired with 230k prowess people plenty.
I think it may be 250k or 300k prowess, not 200k prowess.
It's also possible that recent patches have removed this matchmaking quirk.
Sorry for the confusing info!
its ok phi depends on the region too
Im a Raijin at about 180k and iirc i've been matched with several G.O.Ds (on their Side Character ranked kishin or Something) in ranked with about 380k although that might have been Happening before the announced Changes were implemented. Most of the time im fighting people with about 250k.
yeah no thats not a thing, ive gotten people with 380k prowess (GoD) on battle ruler, 170k prowess myself
I was facing players with 400k+ prowess when I was Fujin, in both ranked and quick match months ago. Even now I'm still getting 250k+ players consistently, including 300k+. Best intros of all time:
- Tekken 5
- This
SF X Tekken as well
T8 deserves to be in the list
Come on, T2. But yes, this was mega.
Still pissed the T5 intro isn't in Tekken 8 as a song we can set somewhere.
@neniv TTT2 not on the list is a crime.
I already watched this on Max's channel and I'll watch it again here. That intro was dope AF.
Same here 💪💪💪
Insane intro.
Yoooo what is your profile picture?
Great coaching, Phi. I always find it funny when people say, "why didn't you tell his this or that to win?!" People forget that getting better at Tekken isn't about winning the match at hand. It's about making incremental improvements on some aspect of the game over time. Losing is a part of learning. Focus on learning and wins will come naturally before you know it.
Now this is how you collab with PhiDX.
no this is how u collab with maximillian
Give the person who made that intro a massive raise, holy.
Watched this live, was pretty fun to see how quick Max picked up a lot of stuff and then got to Bushin.
Now THIS is an intro
Man, what an entertaining watch. Learning from you, while I watch you teach him, is so fun. And honestly, beneficial for any player. All of these concepts are applicable to everyone. This is great, man
THE INTRO GOES SO HARD
Watched it live. Watched it on Max’s channel. And I will watch it here again. Yall are awesome
opening a video and seeing Max's intro without looking at the channel, only to be jumpscared by PhiDX, was certainly an experience.
Really cool to see the way you teach. I am studying to become a school teacher in Germany, and I personally tend to give way too much info, especially if I'm passionate about the topic. The insights at the end really helped me understand the value of selecting the important stuff. Thanks for all the videos c:
Please make this intro the standard. Literally busted out laughing
Good stuff. Tekken collab is here to stay, period.
That intro was amazing!

oh… this is THE greatest collab I didn’t know I needed.
That was a fantastic session and so glad this happened. Breaking down why some things weren’t told was fascinating and totally logical.
What an awesome intro. This needs to be a series. I love it.

It might be 300K

It’s definitely like 280k I’ve been getting crushed by tg players on secondaries lol …
love it when two of my parasocials just be chillin' playing my fav game
I saw that on Max's channel, but here I am anyway :)
I love that content, and it was so cool to see you speak instead of a still image
Thank, this content was amazing, I wish he did that for Tekken 7, this game was great.

this was such an interesting video..
bearing witness to the growth of a fighter is such a beautiful thing to watch
God, I'll always be happy I got to actually be there for the sajam slam goblin shriek on-stream
Loved watching this! Y’all are great personalities together and I learned stuff too!
Been looking forward to this!
Catching this live was some of the most fun I've had watching Tekken 8 since launch. Good stuff and great job coaching Phi! 👍
The intro was incredible
Wait I love this intro. I love the collab especially because Max was the first big Tekken creator I watched. He not only enjoys the game but he has a positive attitude for it even when he loses. I strive to be him in that aspect.
The intro had me dyin, keep up the good work man
i love the Collab saw it on both channels, great job phi 🤩
Fire intro mashup
THIS INTRO IS THE. BEST UA-cam INTRO I HAVE SEEN LMFAOOOO
I seriously need a PhiDX voice over reaction whenever I play because you'd be hyping me up so damn hard 😂 your reactions throughout Max's streams the first time and yesterday were fucking golden bro
Did not expect this collab but pretty cool to see!
Nice notes at the end. I think Sajam also said something similar in the past also. It's much easier to learn offense than defense because defense is basically learning the rest of the cast while offense is just learning your own character's
I cracked so much with the intro, and got me hooked.
INTRO: CINEMA
This was a really fun episode!
This video is mad helpful for fighting against Lars. Imma take notes later lol
The intro was incredible, 10/10

As a Lars main hovering Tekken King / Emp, I enjoyed wathcing Max's play here and lowkey picked up some tech too.
16:42 that sequence with LEN in heat was CLEAN
That intro got me hyped! LOL
Definitely can't wait to see these. Man what i gotta do to get coached by Phi lol
Hahaha, this intro is so funny and pure fire! MaximillianPHI

That intro has me in tears!😂
HOLY HELL THAT INTRO LOL
I WAS GONNA SLEEP
NOW I WOKE UP
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The intro almost gave me a heart attack!
Yeah I am going to use his advice today. Im only 2 ranks away from Tekken King with Jin.
Those last matches against Kaz got me screaming. YOU CAN PUNISH THAT 🗣️🗣️
7:20 is there more info about what players the matchmaking system serves against you? Holy the intro
This is fantastic
That last Kazuya was a beast and he was not mashing Lmfao. He was countering the Lars mash by counter hitting him before he could start snowballing
Mashing isn't a derogatory term. He was stopping Lars by attacking from disadvantage. That's mashing
THE INTRO!!! LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!
Phi embracing the Speedkicks “Yes!” Makes me happy 😂😂
Phi has mastered content
cool vid with Max the legend :)
Combining Phi with Max's intro was a legendary idea 😂
THE INTRO IS GOATED
Man I cant get through the video I rewatched the intro like 20 times. *DYAAHHHHHH*
The two Kings!
Fun video and im glad you addressed the complaints from maxs comments
I really respect Matt for playing to look cool though, I live for that power fantasy xD
PLEASE MORE INTROS LIKE THESE
Best intro in tekken history
I got got back to Tekken after like 3-4 months of not playing it. And wow it's sufh a brawler tbh. Juggle > mix up > heat > mix up
"He is a masher, just frame trap him!"
*Frame traps are working*
Few minutes later..
35:15
"I'll try to get him on some timing here"
and gets blown up hitting buttons mid string
Hit tekken king last night thanks for the guidance
Dude huge crossover lets go
As a Lars main, who doesn’t wanna pay for coaching, this was a blessing. S/o to Phi and Max. I needed this. 😂
Hey Phi, so I can definitely say without a shadow of a doubt the TK 200k prowess threshold is not a thing, highest I’ve hit with Lars is Bushin, I don’t have any other characters with ranked records, and I get paired with 230k prowess people plenty.
climbing first is the best. Every night i practice something then go online an try to pull it off. When i feel confortable, i can add something else
Ngl haven’t watched the video yet but that intro was hard DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
one tip is D.E 1 Blocked is a setup for b4
Dude, so cool. I hope I get to fight this new famous addition to purple ranks online

Lowkey you training me at the same time 🐐🐐
