Im a Hwoarang main who’s been stuck in RR between Garyu and Shinryu for the longest time. Even though this series is focused on Lars some of the techniques and strats you’re describing I’ve been able to implement and I’m finally starting to make genuine progress towards purple ranks and putting streaks of wins together. You’re by far the easiest to understand and learn from for relative Tekken newbies. THANK YOU ❤.
I work a normal 9-5 job, so its hard to find time to really sit down and lab out tekken but all your vids make it a much easier process that's easy to understand. You Tekken GOAT fr
As a beginner Lars main this series is a godsend! Made me understand my character and the game in general better and I saw immediate improvement in my gameplay.

started watching these videos yesterday. im a lars player myself and im currently sitting at Fujin and ive gotten kinda stuck there. im thinking maybe my playstyle is a bit too predictable but hopefully taking some tips from these vids will help me push forward.
On 9:59 to do a while running into den stance instead of doing while running then stopping then doing f3 you can do fff 3+4 or while running 3+4 so you don't have to stop at all also you should not use while running 3 as an approach tool too much because it's very linear on the other hand while running 3+4 is a good mix because you can either threaten a den 3 into sen mixup or if they mash you back up then do den 1+2 or den 2 for a combo
When he's on the ground, he should use Down+4 more often. It always hits when people are trying to do a meaty on your wake up. Max barely uses it and stays on the ground too long.
kind unrelated but how do they get their tekken to look that good and clean? jive got max graphis and stuff but my game doesnt look as sharp and clean as it does here. they also seem to have more particle effects and stuff
Max is paying for Phi to coach him. But here’s the thing; I would pay Phi just to have him watch and hype up other content creators while they play. Hahahaha
Learning frame traps is a cheat code. If it applies correctly, most of your opponents will lose the ability to analyze. Let them learn what went wrong after the matches, now is time for them to doubt themselves
I am the same TP and rank as max, but I feel like he's meeting a lot stronger opponents. Is Europe where I am just that much worse, or is it because I am playing Ling?
No 😂. at Tekken emperor/Tekken god you ain't going anywhere with no defense. You might win like a complete potato like max if you use xiaoyu or Kuma/panda once in a while but you would get demoted very quickly. Tekken offense works only with defense. After all the latest patches, most braindead characters like Lars were nerfed so it's not just a one sided spam fest where 1 player has to constantly defend and the other just goes at it with forced 50/50s. That playstyle will work only up to blue ranks, where people don't know match ups, frames and punishes well (as you can see from the video. A good player would have utterly destroyed max 5 times over with that spam. That's why Lars isn't considered strong. He only gets away with having no defense and just being bad at tekken by just spamming like crazy because the opponents don't know the match up and punishes. it's not even defense per se, just lack of knowledge against a very rare character that is very gimmicky).
19:30 there are so many. And I do mean so many players. That only know offense. And rush down in order to win. They use exploitive type of attacks to win. Only plus on block of pushback attacks to keep advantage. Constantly power crush, and rage art heat smash. Over and over. Not fun to play against at all.
@@TheSoufiane And people always give us s#*** “This player sucks this player is trash!” And mockery and all this nonsense Ok let me just go to sleep and wake up next morning having made years of improvement to get good overnight… people will shun and go off on players for being trash like they expect us to be high level with a flip of a switch
@@TheSoufiane Yo thats wild. No lie my friends who've been playing for years are currently just at Tekken God Supreme (I started playing like 2 months ago) and I totally see how it takes years to get THAT GOOD.
No disrespect to anyone, but isn't it questionable that you can get to high blues today barely understanding your own frames? Knowing your own frame traps is the kind of thing I used to associate with orange and red players back in Tekken 7. By the time you got to blue people would know their frames, your frames, your gimmicks, your main frame traps, and would rarely fall for obvious flowcharts. Am I misremembering things and blues weren't that different back in Tekken 7, or this true?
tekken 7 had more ranks between each color so like, it literally was harder to get blue in that game along with the climbing changes between ganes. but also baseline fighting game knowledge has gone up significantly in the last 5ish years. the community is much bigger, there’s way more and better content focused on improvement/tutorials, and the netcode improvements let ppl play wayyyyy more quality matches.
I cant really say bcuz i started with t7 when all the dlc and everything had released, so i was barely graduating from noob status when t8 released. But it does feel like the ranks were more intense in t7. I barely made it to the first red rank in 7 after 1 year and in 8 i made it to the ruler ranks by the first week
Well you have to consider that green ranks were one of if not the largest bracket of players in T7. And now those ranks basically no longer exist, because you don’t lose points in there any more. It’s impossible to get stuck in them. The rank system now starts in yellow, which means blue is tier 5, where in the past it was more like tier 7. Then add on that you gain way more points on a win in yellow and orange, the promo boost, ft2 making flowcharting more viable, etc., and it kinda makes sense. The most populated tiers now ARE purple and blue, because the T8 system is the most forgiving system in Tekken history *until you hit blue*, at which point it starts behaving like a system that actually expects you to win consistently. But before that point, it’s very, very, VERY generous to you.
Lars is a gimmicky character and a rare encounter. These two facts alone will carry anyone to blue rank with the most rudimentary and basic flowchart. It is not like Max is stupid but characters like Lars encourage laziness. And giving him just a little bit input in terms of fundamentals may result in significant rank improvements. I did not have a pro in my ear and made it to blue rank with Reina. She cannot rely on garbage all day.
@jjjjjjaylon Tekken is about 50/50s, Lars is more difficult to play than Jin, Nina, Dragunov, Yoshi. They're all annoying too and cheap. He isn't cheap.
