Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Love your attention to detail and clarity of your voice. Just received my Framemeister today and will be hooking it up... Snes mini, gamecube with component, ps one & ps2 with RGB and neo geo aes with RGB.... Great video.
Looks like an awesome rig sir! Kinda crazy all the cabling you have! I'm still using basic av on my retro consoles! Looks like I need some new cables. I've thought about getting a retron so it'd be up scaled.
Matt and Jaelon Thank you Sir! Yeah, the number of cables I have to keep up with has like quadrupled now, haha. You should check out this link: retrorgb.com/rgbmonitors.html These types of CRT monitors are pretty cheap right now because I don't think too many people have caught on to "RGB gaming", but if you can find one cheap on eBay or at Goodwill and you get SCART cables + SCART to BNC adapter to be able to hook up to the monitor, I promise you, you'll never go back to the basic AV cables! The XRGB Mini in this video essentially mimics what these RGB monitors are capable of on modern TVs, but the RGB monitors still give a superior picture! (which is crazy, haha) I actually have a Retron, but something happened to the SNES/SFC slot, which in turn killed the Genesis/Mega Drive slot too, so the only thing it's useful for now is NES/Famicom games and Game Boy games. It does a decent job of upscaling I think, but I ran into quite a few compatibility issues with mine (it wasn't able to recognize and/or dump the ROMs on quite a few games). I had a first run model though and I think they're on their 2nd or 3rd revision of the Retron 5, so things might be a lot better now!
From what I've seen, no upscaler does a good job upconverting composite inputs. They tend to overdo trying to make them look better, and they end up looking worse than if you just plugged it into a regular CRT. For the future, if you find yourself with a console that's highest ouput is composite (unmodded NES and TurboGrafx CD), get a standard definition dongle off Amazon and use VirtualDub to record it. Some guys I watch called MyLifeInGaming have a series of videos on how to get the most out of the framemeister. I'd probably be useful for you to take a look at them.
hi derek. from what i know, us snes is rgb capable, but the colors turn out to dark. there is an amplifier mod you could do. so it could be a bit better. second recommandation: check out the extron crosspoint. it allows you to have for instance 16 inputs and 8 outputs. so you can connect 16 consoles to one crt AND the framemeister. on that way you can play on tv without any delay and the framemeister along with hdmi recorder are running on a seperate channel. phonedork has some video about that. btw: sega genesis, dreamcast, master system 1 ect all are rgb capable. n64 needs a mod, snes an amplifier, nes needs a mod, too. its really worth it, actually. i am running just rgb in my setup, and i never want to go back. well, keep up the good work. i think i will check more videos from you.
Rather than leech power from the XRGB mini, it's better to get a sync stripper thats powered by Pin 8 of the SCART cable you're connecting to it. All good quality cables should have Pin 8 properly wired. This is a lot cleaner looking, and doesn't run the risk of damaging your XRGB mini.
Hello man, i enjoy this video about Framemeister XRGB Mini and your channel is very good. i have 2 question, what is the name of the game in sample xbox? and in you opinion which is the best upscaler for the ps2? thank you
How would you connect multiple systems (through Euro Scart RGB) up to one xRGB mini? Any switch you can use to add more "RGB IN" ports rather than just the one on the front of the xrbg mini? Thanks.
Lol I hear you man! I LOVE hunting down new games and adding them to my collection, but I had to remind myself that actually playing them is the best part of this whole thing, haha. I hope your fire for playing them again gets reinvigorated too!

you should get a vga cable for your xbox for better results with the Framemeister
C sync on a modded SNES jr. has the best picture.

Get a backward compatible ps3

I need to start playing my games too:P I love retro gaming, but I need to play the games that I have. I have a hoarding problem. lol
