Supplementary content I would like to see someone tackle is what to do with things that don't translate from Photoshop to AE. Examples like clipping masks on groups, and some adjustment layers like the excellent Gradient Map in Photoshop (where the only fix I've found is to export a LUT from Photoshop to apply to an adjustment layer in AE). This video will likely help a lot of newcomers, though, so thanks for the wealth of knowledge as always!

I´m having an issue after I import a psd file, I can't change the layers time, it´s stuck in 2 frames, even if I put them into a composition and set the time to 30 seconds, the layers still stuck at 2 frames.
When I import a file, I am not getting that 2nd window with the layer options….anyone know why??
You should check your psd file is CMYK or RGB. If it's CMYK, change it to RGB and don't flatten.

is it possible to import a ps mockup into AE? Like the ones that have a clickable layer which opens up a new .psd file to edit the screen when the screen is tilted at an angle etc.
Hello, what if layer styles effect in potoshop group not detected in after effects precomps?
for me it doesnt show the window with the "retain layer sizes" etc. but it's only in this project specifically, because when i open another .PSD it does work, and i've been doing for the past projects. any ideia why this one doesnt work? does it have anything to do with any photoshop export preferences?
Great 👏👏👏But when I import PSD layers (without merged or merging, I try both of them on after effect), the effects get darker. I try to render to see the result and the render is darker too. Why I can't see the photoshop original effect brightness on after effect? Is there any trick to solve it?

Hello ! ... can u please help! ...when I import a 1920 x 1080 PSD file on After Effects that has different layer sizes, After Effects only takes the size of the document and ignores the size of the different layers, so I end up with a lot of layers in After Effects of the same size, any solution? in an other version of after effects i was able to see different sizes for each layer

I'm importing a file from Photoshop and converting it to a 3D layer. I get a white background. Why it happens?
I’m having a major issue when importing footage from Photoshop. My layers are blurred a little bit in after affects . Even if I create a new project in Photoshop with the same pixel dimension size as after effects and also choosing 72 PPI, and also using RGB as recommended. My layers are still not crystal clear in after-effects. If I export the layers as PNG, they are crystal clear. If I export all the layers individually from Photoshop as files, and then import them into after effects they are also crystal clear.

Question: What if you added new layers in your Ps document. Will that update the layers in AE? I tried and it doesn't. Maybe it shouldn't? Anyways, very helpful and informative tutorial

what do i do if i dont get the pop up
i dont get the dialoge, ae just imports the file.
I'm having an issue, when I go to import, it won't give me the window of options to select how I can import my file. It just imports the PSD file and that's it. Really frustrating as I cannot find a way to fix this issue

well this video is useless if the pop up window don't show up when you import the file, how do you get to this? my file just drop without the pop up
Doesn't work. Even if imported as a comp it still just merges all layers into one layer.
PSD must be RGB colors
