They only put a lot of conditions on it because you have to pay extra for all of them. The Langos is not Pizza. Only sour cream and cheese are added to the original authentic. You don't have to buy it in downtown restaurants, but in markets and bakeries in the suburbs. The price there will be only 3-4 Euros.
Hot tip for anyone reading this. Try fresh and crispy langos with just garlic and a little bit of salt. It's great and you won't feel bad after eating too much.
Hi ! 22 euros is f.cking much. The market hall is a tourist trap anyway. You will find pickled vegetables in the cellar. The food of the region is similar, which may also have historical reasons. Remember that until 1918 they belonged to one state, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (Czech, Hungarian, Austrian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian, to name only the main states. But there were other peoples in the area.) Goulash may originally be Hungarian, as it was invented in Budapest in the Gerbaud restaurant in the 1880s. The name suggests that it is a shepherd's dish. In fact, it never was. The gulyás is a shepherd (cowboy) working with cattle. It's just that the Hungarian goulyás has never ridden a horse. The shepherd people were poor and rarely ate meat. They mainly ate pasta boiled or fried in fat. Many times they only seasoned with salt because even onions were too expensive for them. The goulash became popular, and in the 1900s, about 25 versions were known. But Hungarian goulash is always soup. The stew is similar, the meat is in a thick sauce. In fact, if you have stew, you can also cook goulash. I heard a story about the chimney cake. Long ago, during wars, the population fled to hard-to-reach places. The road was known only to those who lived there. During such an attack, one such group of refugees hid in a cave high up. The attackers decided to camp under the cave and wait until the food in the cave runs out. However, the people in the cave came up with the idea of making a huge fake cake out of straw and placing it in front of the cave. Seeing this, the attackers left, because they thought that if they could make such a huge cake in the cave, then they had a lot of food.
A part of Hungary’s food, as you might know, is also in Romania, kind of like how you mentioned the origins of kürtőskalács. I absolutely LOVED the chimney cake (and lángos too)! Great video, keep up the good work! I’d love to see Budapest one day and try out more food. 😎 I appreciate them. ❤️ Oh, and I think goulash is also the best soup I’ve ever had so far! 😄
@@Get.Lost.Travel But you shouldn't miss Romania, for its own traditional food. In the countryside it's mind-blowing, in small tourist towns it's very close to genuine and even in Bucharest you could still get an idea. It's a pleasure to visit today your vlog for the first time. Go on, get lost on new meridians of the taste!
Hungry for Hungarian kürtőskalács and kolbice. 😋 If you like water, Iceland has some really nice waterfalls and hot springs. August is the best time to go.
Maybe at some point in the future! I was only there for a little over a day on this trip, so I would probably need to plan out another one down the line in order to be able to talk about more things in Budapest. But I would like to! If this video does well I'll definitely plan on it! 🙏🏻
oh brother you should've visited Edy's French Tacos while in Budapest They have 4.9 rating on google for a reason. Street food at its best - cheap, HUGE portions and delicious AF
I never seen Hungarian street food in Poland or UK, I really want to try it. This year i have fully planned with my travels but next one is definetly Hungary, just for the food sake
Hungarian dishes are varied. There is plenty of food. These dishes have been perfected to the point where it can't be better. A Hungarian can eat something different and delicious every day for a year.
$22 for a Langos, jeez. In the best spots it used to be 1-2 dollars. And it's ruined if you put anything other than garlic, salt, sour cream and cheese on it.
Best Street food? Go to Asia for that, saying it as a Hungarian. Great video tho! Most Hungarian foods are not street food tho, but we do have a delicious cousine
I've been all over Asia (been here for the last 6 months actually!) and I think in general the quality of the streetfood on the whole is probably a bit better in Asia, Thailand, etc. But the diversity and creativity of the streetfood in Budapest is really special. It's like an artform, with the goal to come up with new and interesting ideas. In Asia, they just do the same few traditional pieces of streetfood really REALLY well. So totally different in my opinion! Appreciate the comment!
hi! overall, you did a great video, but I would like to draw your attention to the differences about filming others. generally you are allowed to film yourself or any consenting adult in public, and if someone else is in the background, that is usually okay. however, you cannot SPECIFICALLY film another person (even if in public!). if you do, and you publish it (here in YT, or FB, or any other platform) you can get sued for privacy violations. if you decide to publish the footage, you need to make sure to blur anything that can be to be used to identify the person (face, jewelry, tattoos, car licence plates, etc.) it is similar for filming in private areas, like bath places. next time you upload video from places like that, blur everyone else but yourself. you can get into legal trouble, and/or get assaulted. (and the cops will probably won't be on your side)
Yeah, thank you for the unwarrented internet-splain, but I know what I'm allowed to do! The bath place in Budapest isn't like a bathhouse like you might be imagining, it's more like a swimming pool. It's shared gender, and people are clothed. Many people were filming and taking photos there-- nearly everyone actually. If there was any doubt on my end whatsoever I wouldn't have done it. Trust that the people on the internet know what they're doing, it'll save your fingers from all that typing!
@@Get.Lost.Travel 1st of all, my comment was made in good faith, therefore attacking my person is uncalled for 2nd, about you "knowing what you are allowed to do", you don't. You were robbed !!!!!!! 22 for Langos? They robbed you exactly at the place. However your knowledge about places you visit is really broad and deep. very unusual for American
I know 22 was an insane price to be honest 😭 I try to do my research! I think that having little information about other nations isn't exclusive to Americans, wherever you live your focus is on your country's history, culture, lifestyle, etc. and there's nothing wrong with that. But I think that's what makes travel so great is that it broadens your horizons and gives you the chance to learn more about other places firsthand. That's what I'm trying to convey on this channel, anyway! 🙏🏻
