No need to remove the liners. Removing the screws on the liners and bending them back is not required at all. You can easily access the driver side fog light bulb from underneath the bumper. Yeah you'll have to lie on your back on the driveway, but no need to unscrew anything, Just reach up and remove the connector, unscrew the bulb, put the new one in and plug in. Viola, you're done. On the passenger side, no need to mess with the wheel well liner either. You'll still have to remove the 2 screws underneath the bumper to move aside the protective cover, but then just reach up and remove the bulb and replace. At least, that's what it was like in my 2019 SR5 Premium.
Good call, I didn't think of that. It's not too bad removing the liners, but I can see your way being faster for sure
I just did this!! I didn’t remove a single tab or bolt. Thank you!
Your method saved me a ton of time, mate. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion, which worked great on my 2014 SR5 Premium!
For the 2020, I just replaced both sides without removing anything. Unless you are running some beefier skids, you can get to both bulbs without issue. The passenger side I couldn’t see what I was doing but did it by feel. No issues
Ok but how the hell did you remove the wire on the driver side!
You can reach it and press the clip in. It's just aggravating to find blind
Wow.. perfect job
Thanks for the help! Initially, before watching this video, I could not get the bulb out even though I was twisting it. Then, I watched this and found out that you have to disconnect the wires first and then the bulb twists right out. The passenger side is slightly harder and requires more screws to be removed before you can reach up under the shroud to remove the bulb - just like the says in the video. Thanks for the help and the extra brightness will be very welcome!
Looking good..great work!
Thanks a ton! Appreciate the video idea!
For some reason my fog lights aren’t turning on when I turn the switch to on... what gives ? This is a 2019 4 Runner
Turn the switch around at the fog light. It will reverse the polarity and fix the issue
Might I suggest that you TURN THE WHEEL before you take wheel well loose.
Good suggestion! Thanks
please do a vid on the led headlights
You got it man. I'll do a quick overview. Toughest part is shoving the little black box in the sealed area of the headlight behind the gray cap. I'll knock one out for us soon
Makes an install video that skips most if the actual install
I order the led kit for the headlights but I couldn’t get them to work. They would not turn to lock into the headlight housing. Did you have any problems? The fog light LED’s work like a charm.
Did you try swapping the red seals on them with the OEM rubber like we did in this video?
Btwillia's Garage Yes I tried both.
@@phunkship hmm that is strange. I will make a video on the install process to see if that helps, but it is very possible that you got a bad set as far as fitment. First time I am hearing this and I have seen dozens sold. Sorry that happened to you!
Same issue here, trying to do them right now. The heatsink body and wore come into contact on the passenger side housing
Any resolution on this? Has the bulb design on the Amazon link changed or something? I want to pull the trigger, but am hesitant if there's an issue with newer LED's.
Nice, I need some of them headlight leds.
I just updated the link. The be safe, here you go. They are a 5 min install. Just have to shove the extra little black box into the housing. Best $50 you ever spent on your 4Runner if you drive at night
amzn.to/2jTUMKd
Btwillia's Garage What is the “extra little black box:” that you are referring to? I installed the Fog lights per your instructions and it couldn’t have been easier. Now to order the low beam lights but want to make sure I order the “extra little black box” that you referred to.
How’s everyone getting past once a year vehicle inspection?? I’m in Virginia and am told that LEDs will fail inspection. I’m switching to LEDs anyway however do you guys reinstall OEM when inspection is due? I’m driving a 2020 TRD OFF-ROAD and factory lights suck
It's more relaxed in NC. No issues. Easy to swap if needed for inspection
Good job. The white light looks really cool but unfortunately it doesn't do the job quite like yellow fog lights. But if you don't really live in foggy areas you're straight.
I agree with you. Yellow light is better for the rain and fog. White light reflects off and little and bluer light is terrible vs fog/water
Ordered some lights, thanks for the link! I like the brighter white compared to halogen.
Nice! Thanks for the kind words and support! The cost is the small as regular Amazon links, but a very small portion goes to support the channel when you use my links. I appreciate it! Install should be a breeze!
If your high beams are also your DRL's make sure you get a anti flicker resistor harness. I had for my 4RUNNER Limited, there are plug and play harness on Amazon or Headlight Revolution no splicing needed.
@@stewartjohnson7347 excellent! That is my next project!
With the low beam led bulb are you able to install them with fitting the dust cover cap back on?
Yes you are. I heard feedback that the vendor may have been sending different bulbs from an older link I had that originally worked perfect so I recently updated the link with a verified set that fit properly
Does this make it hyper blink since you put led?
No blinking at all! No extra resistors or anything needed. Kit works perfectly the way it comes
What percent of tint you went with on windshield
50%
Of course my 10mm socket was missing...
Standard 🤣
Are you still using these? If so are you happy still?
Yeah they are still in mine and doing well
Turn the tires
Thanks for the video. Will come in handy when I get a 4runner later this year. Would appreciate the headlight video too.
Appreciate the comment! I will be sure to do a headlight video in the next couple weeks. It's really easy. 5 min job 👍
Why you not turn steering will to get tire out of way?
Could shoulda 😁
Have you replaced the low and high beams?? If so, did you switch the same rubber seals out with the oem?? Video very helpful.
Anyone know if it’s the same process for 2022 4Runners?
I don't have a 10 mm socket...
None of us do. Wrap a rubber band or 3 around a 11mm
thanks for showing the passenger side most people only show driver side
Nice! thank you
You are welcome. Enjoy!
It looks like this will not work on a 2021 TRD Premium? They already have LED bulbs and it’s not simple as plug-in-play? Correct?
I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the 2021s yet and don't want to mislead you with bad info unless I put my eyes on one personally
What is the brand and model of the light?
This does not work for the SR5s because they at least the 2016 come with H16 and although they are supposed to be the same as H11 it will not work in that housing. I tried two different sets and even tried with old seals and no dice.
So h16?
I did this and I see the road way better now
Why the fog light in the link doesn’t look like the one you installed?
I listed that model since our fog lights don't have projector lenses. That model includes a small projector lenses which will give even better light output. Nice attention to detail! I will likely be swapping mine out for these soon, but wanted to show the install. I'm happy with mine, but light scatters slightly and I want to be sure it's not getting in drivers eyes. The cutoff is important. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the reply. So should I buy the one you listed that have small projector lenses to not glare other drivers?
@@nathanngo7464 I would if I were you to be safe. They seem like nicer bulbs than the ones I got. They are made by the company that makes my low beams, which are amazing. Amazon has a free 30 day return if you don't like them for whatever reason.
Thank you for everything. Appreciate it
@@nathanngo7464 You are welcome! Thanks for the support!
Thanks for the video. I just changed the headlights, now wii do the fog lights…….
I appreciate it!
What brand fog light bulbs are they thanks
Thanks for this vid. Had a lot of trouble getting the passenger bulb back in
Look good. Do you get oncoming people flashing you to dim your lights?? Some of these lights from China are too bright and not aimed like OEMs are. (??)
Only had 2 or 3 people flash at me over the course of a few months. Get more in my BMW with their oem technology approved by DOT and what not. They are no doubt brighter though than stock 4runner lights.
Just a note, the link to the American Flag Window Decals doesn't seem to work anymore. At least it doesn't for me.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The product links get outdated from time to time due to stock and vendor changes. I'll need to go through and update some older videos. Here is the American flag for now. Also, check out my new website. It should be really useful for seeing all my 5th Gen content neatly sorted.

That’s awesome and looks pretty easy. With the fogs and headlights they have been good like no codes thrown?
No codes and they worked perfectly until I upgraded the headlights to full custom retrofits. I still have them if I ever want to sell to retros
Is it bright at night? Cause mine is. I think it’s legal since is shining on the ground
Yes, I have night shots at the end of the video
Need to replace those chrome lugs with black and murder those rims out!
Agreed. I should order some. It's time to rotate the tires
Seems easy enough, gonna do none right after breakfast. Yeeeeew 🤘🏼
Nice! Enjoy them
Great tutorial!! Thanks for posting!
Thank you!
Great vid. My 4R is also white. Have you considered blackening out your roof rails? Buy, paint, or plasti dip?
Absolutely! I might try plastidip, but honestly I know I am going to want it done that way forever, so may paint.
Great video, just wanted to double check. Did you get any error messages on dash ?
Thank you! No, no error message
Mine is an older 2017, so they may have added additional warnings since
Thanks 🙏
What's wrong about using the led rubber and have to use the oem
It's a little larger and I have heard of fitment issues. Just a safety precaution. The one that comes with is most likely fine, but it's an easy assurance.
Do you have wheel spacers on in this video? Thanks!
No sir, stock setup
Btwillia's Garage looks great! 265/70/17 tires too?
@@rlpm425 That's correct. Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Thank you!
Btwillia's Garage awesome!
@@BtwilliasGarage how are you liking the led lights I have never used led but always hear they dont have good throw always run hid but undecided on my new 4runner
I'm looking side by side at the new LED old old halogen gaskets and just cant see how the old gaskets are better. They are absolutely identical. Any solid reasoning behind using the old gaskets? Maybe newer LEDs are coming with better gaskets?
Could be! It was recommended to me to swap them, but feel free to run the new ones if they improved on the design
@@BtwilliasGarage , thanks! I went down the rabbit hole researching moisture in fog lights and headlights getting nervous that I'd somehow screw this up. I already used the same bulbs in my low beams. I went with a no-drill solution so I think I'll be okay
There is no need to remove anything you have complete access to the fog lights from under the vehicle
Why make it so easy? Be a man and take the front end off
Just kidding, I didn't realize that at first, but agree
R these still meeting ur expectations?
Yes they are still doing perfect
This isn't quite the case with a 2021 SR5 Premium. The stock fog light is a whole assembly piece it looks like you need to replace, can't just replace the bulb like I've done for other lamps in the past.
Good insight! As you know this video was made years ago. I appreciate you sharing
@@BtwilliasGarage - I appreciate the time you took to make the video! I was really hoping it'd be the same on all 5th gens. Oh well! Looks like the 2020+ require the whole assembly replacement, but I found an alternative solution that will hopefully accomplish what I want which was going for green fog lights.
@@cgyro14 I appreciate that! Jealous of the new tech in yours. Enjoy it!
You don't really need any tools just stick my arm up from the underside and change the bulbs.
rke1987 but you probably ain't swole like him lol
🤣 Lifting that gas pump handle so many times will do that. It won't take him long to catch up if he owns one
Very nice, crisp look. Are all of these still working after all this time? Any issues?
Yessir! Thank you. No issues at all
How long have the bulbs lasted you?
TBD! They are still working to this day.
@@BtwilliasGarage thanks for the quick response, I'm gonna order them! Thank you so much! Love your runner
Perfect instructions. Thank you! 10 min job
I appreciate that man. Enjoy
Not sure if I’m doing some thing wrong I turned bulb to right but wouldn’t pull out is there a button or something I’m
Not doing
Try turning it harder and/or the opposite way. There are notches in the mounting base that are holding it in and keeping you from pulling it out
@@BtwilliasGarage it will not turn left only right but than will not pull out do you just turn and pull strait out
@@bonddav007 yes you just turn and pull it straight out. Try jiggling it hard, it must be stuck a bit
@@BtwilliasGarage ok will try again this week end when I have more light thanks
No problem. If it continues to be an issue I can climb under and send you a video on IG or something
Need that song name homie!
Its Hiatus by Rage in the UA-cam audio library :)
Nice. My fog light just burned out on my 2017 4Runner, passenger side. I need to replace it, and this video shows me the access points. I'm not sure about putting in LED bulbs, would love to hear how they have worked out for you over the last year. I put some into an older car once, and it caused lots of issues so I ended up getting rid of the LED bulbs.
I also read in the reviews that some people say these are blinding to look at from approaching vehicles. I don't want to blind people, since I mainly do highway and city driving (not rural). Is this really blinding?
Thanks! The fog lights are still doing great. The ones I pasted in the description have a cut off like proper led projectors. It cuts the light off below the oncoming traffic's windshield (unless your on a crazy hill). No flashes of other driver's lights! Best of luck!
@@BtwilliasGarage OK, going to try out the fog lights. May do the headlights too if these work out. Thanks again! Oops, update, I see that the headlights are showing "out of stock". Well, guess that gives me time to think about it.
I did a headlight bulb video at the top of the new website list that should have a working link for you. Keep me posted with what you end up doing! Apologies again for the broken links and thank you for taking the time to let me know I need to fix a few!
Very Clean!
Thanks!
Plastidipped front bumper?
Nah this is the OEM TRD Pro set up
Lots of people like the look and plastidip non Pro 4Runners to duplicate though
I may or may not have plastidipped my 2014 sr5 lol... I really wanna either throw some amber raptor lights on the front grille or place side shooters above the hood. If you like how they look could you try and make a video on them? It would be super helpful
@@dariodiaz5379 haha right on! I'll look in to raptor lights first. All mods on this truck have to be approved by the boss lady so cross your fingers 😂
Btwillia's Garage BET lol, I completely understand. Great vid lookin’ forward to seeing more
Don't forget to tell your viewers, to make sure the LEDs face horizontally not vertical for correct light pattern in fogs , headlights and high beams .
Good call, thank you
We 4RUNNER owners have to look out for each other and Toyota truck owners too 😎
Nice video but you don’t need to peel back the fender liner much. Just go under the bumper and remove the lower 2 bolts, peel back the liner, reachup to change a bulb or replace the whole headlight assembly. The passenger side fog light assembly is covered in a shroud that’s a PIA to remove just undo the right side tab and fold it back. Again, it’s MUCH easy from underneath unless you have huge forearms!
I agree Steve, there is an easier way. This was my first attempt and people find it helpful, but may need to remake this video. Have a good week my friend!
@@BtwilliasGarage
I would still be wrestling with that shroud if it hadn’t been for your video. Thanks Brother!!
Thanks dude. I recently built www.btwilliasgarage.com to group together my content by vehicle. Hope you find something else that's helpful there!
@@BtwilliasGarage I WILL, picking up a new Off Road Premium por la manana!
I may be missing it but did you post a video of the low beam install? Thanks for all the other vids - looking forward to trying these at home!
I have not yet, but promise it will be done within a week or so
Thanks for letting me know you want it
@@BtwilliasGarage yep!! I will be looking to upgrade my lights soon
Low beams and fog install complete! Let’s hope I did everything correctly lol
@@sethcox4551 I'm sure you did! Just knocked out the rear diff fluid swap this weekend. T Case, front diff and headlights next weekend
So the passenger side was a bit weird I ended up on my back. Didn’t really need to remove the first two screws like you did the other side. But then again I’m not
Mechanic but I got it done :) thanks for the vid love the lights too!
Glad you got it done. Yes I did find a faster way and guess I should update this video. Enjoy the lights and thank you!
