Yeah, I think most people think that people who own a porsche have more money than they actually do. I live right near a track that's owned by the local german car dealers, and have friends that work there. Most new sports cars under $150k are aspirational purchases by middle age people who have done well for themselves and saved their pennies after paying off their mortgage. They aren't nearly as wealthy as people think.
Right? There were at least 2 mentions of going up to the cabin with the boys that I counted lol. Either that's a rich person thing or a Canadian thing lol.

I'm really not a car person but I have to say that Alex really made this video enjoyable for me. His commentary feels very fluid and it flows well with the video. Would love to see more from him!
I normally don't watch tech channels for car reviews but I'd definitely watch this guy review more. He is so giddy and excited to review the taycan like a 12 year old child, love it.

My compliments to the camera work in this video! I don't remember ever seeing in-car shots in a UA-cam video this good looking.
The "spaceship" is also a thing is other European electric cars. The more pedestrian Renault Zoe (sadly not available in North America) you can even hear the sound on the outside of the car, which works pretty well in addressing the problem of EV's being to quiet to be noticed by ear by pedestrians and cyclists.

Alex's candid feedback is on point. I would love to have a sporty electric car that stuck to the basics. Give me nobs for standard functions or do a hybrid approach. Brings a smile to my face seeing how good of a time Alex is having.
Audi RS E-tron GT is just that. And I also think that it is the best looking EV on the market.

11:58 It anticipated you switching into reverse when you stopped and sharply turned your steering wheel, and it automatically turned on your backup cam. That's pretty smart.
Edit: I was informed it was the front camera until he actually changed to reverse gear. Must've been proximity sensors detecting the fence.

I love that cars are evolving but why does every tiny thing have to be over-engineered or unnecessarily electronically controlled?
Why are door handles and climate controls reinvented in new cars? They are very basic BUT crucial parts of utilising a car and seem with every new E-car to be completely un-user friendly.
The door handles are probably for better aerodynamics... The rest is stupid I guess ;)

If the electronics fail (battery for doors and windows), like reports with Telsa S has shown, it can be a nightmare to get back into the car.

Well, Alex looks excited like a kid who gets a long-desired remote control car on his birthday.
Alex, keep the car content coming. Your real and yourself and it’s refreshing to watch. Get some petrol V8’s as well! Don’t just stick to electric cars. Great content!!!
The infamous Porsche options. I would say that's how they "get ya", but to be honest they "get ya" before you select a single option. That being said, if I ever decide (and am able to) spend more than $75k on a car, it's going to be a Porsche.
The problem I have with these cars, including Tesla, is they are trying to over engineer a problem that doesn't exist by removing tactile controls for something that requires you to take your attention away. All they need to do is add textured touch panels in convenient places. Need to turn up the AC? Slide your finger across a textured touch pad.
Or a real slider/dial as touch doesn't help anyway
Having lived with a Tesla for over a year, I have to disagree. There are a few good reasons for a plain touchscreen and the steering wheel buttons can do a lot of the on the go controls. Music controls, cruise control, self driving mode, wiper controls, and voice activation are all on the steering wheel. Tesla software is one of the key selling points and being limited by a touchscreen with a textured area or buttons in certain areas of it will hamper future software innovations.
I'm honestly curious what people are adjusting on a regular enough basis while driving to need tactile, single function buttons. Do people change the temperature of their cars a lot? Whether it's hot or cold outside, I leave mine at 72°. But regardless, it's an always on screen control at the button of the screen. You really shouldn't be operating a 4,000 pound vehicle if you can't multitask well enough/pick an opportune time to use the touchscreen for less than one second.
@@LightsLuck- I agreed with you until the last sentence. Multitasking in a car should be avoided as much as possible because it's safer. I mean you can get used to it, that's for sure. But a reason like that you can't multitask well enough is just bullshit. Even if you are good at multitasking you pay a little bit less attention to the road which is more unsafe. 1 second if you're driving 100km/h is already 27 meters on the road. That's a lot :p
@@ryonnl That is the reason for all the automation in cars. I'm saying there is very little you need to actively do besides driving in any car, let alone a tesla. And the other things you may need to do should be done while cruising or stopped regardless of what car you are in.
But yeah there are obviously better ways of doing anything. I think tesla has a good middle ground of flexibility and usability for the current tech.
