  • John says, "On October 22nd, 2023 I was fortunate to visit the Hotham Valley Railway ( the only steam train operation in Western Australia with one possible exception of a very small operation elsewhere). Thanks to Perth railfan Jeremy Glavot who so kindly picked me up at my hotel and drove me the one hour long drive to the town Dwellingup, WA to where this operation is based.. Thanks to Jeremy I was able to chase their first trip and ride the second trip behind steam engine 4-8-2 #W945 built in 1952 by Beyer Peacock and Co. Also being used for the first day in some time during my visit was diesel 1401XA built in 1954 and preserved at the HVR since 2011.

I am a huge railfan and former railway employee. My friend James, aka Skeena Pacific, compiles and edits the video clips I took of trips I made in an effort to capture trains across the World. He produced them into the series called "Travels With John". The title usually indicates the locations."
