- Novel oral antiviral for SARS-CoV-2 progresses in Phase I trial, Protease inhibitor
www.europeanpharmaceuticalrev...
Background science
Viral proteases are enzymes, endopeptidases
Encoded by the genetic material (DNA or RNA) of viral pathogens
Catalyze cleavage of specific peptide bonds in viral precursors
These proteolytic events are essential for the completion of the viral infectious cycle
Protease inhibitors, bind to a viral enzyme, called a protease
Prevent the virus from replicating
Protease inhibitors, used to treat HIV and hepatitis C
Assess tolerability and safety of multiple ascending doses of PF-07321332
Phase I study, healthy adults
Randomised, double-blind, sponsor-open, placebo-controlled, single- and multiple-dose escalation study in healthy adults evaluating the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of PF-07321332.
Protease inhibitor, demonstrated potent in vitro antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses.
Could be prescribed orally at the first sign of infection
Pfizer also investigating an intravenously administered protease inhibitor, PF-07304814, in hospitalised patients with COVID-19.

Just stay tuned on his channel here. Do people there really watch legacy TV that much still? Where I live, I think most people "cut the cord", or have gone to streaming only, or FTA (free to air, aka antenna) and streaming. I'm surprised that people still have cable TV when it's so full of commercials. I have a neighbor that still has cable TV and there seems to be a commercial every few minutes. Why don’t they use Ivermectin? It seems to be very effective at getting rid of this thing even for long haulers!
Well, you can't make a ton of money with a drug which is no longer patented. A patent is a license to charge as much as the market will bear because a patent makes sure the drug has no competitors making it.
Unfortunately, Ivermectin destroys the vaccine seller's profitable business model of selling you a new vaccine for every new virus variant.
I know! It just sucks. Isn’t there anything we can do to fight back against the pharma CO’s. I swear their whole game is to keep us sick!
@@alwayscurious599 Yes. You can refuse the jab.
Even if a Pharma company sold Ivermectin for 10 cents a pil they could make a lot of $$$ considering there are hundreds of billions of people in the world who would want to have it on hand (just like aspirin) in case they got Covid. As it is you still need a prescription for it which means they could charge more than they do for drugs like Aspirin.

the GOVERNMENTS need to get the hell out of the way and allow personal MDS to treat their patients with the DRUGS already available on the market for seventy yrs.
Government organisations, such as the NHS are needed to carry out proper trials. Trials are absent or of poor quality for the use of ivermectin, calcifediol, masks, ventilation and much else. The problem with the government is that it is narrow minded in considering all the evidence and acts as too much of a brake on innovation.
Not sure where you are from, but doctors in the US have been free to prescribe different drugs that have been trialed from pretty early on. I personally know a few people who have been on either HCQ or Ivermectin during the last year as a prescription.
If they try it the Epstein files will be released,
First of all, governments work on different principles so it doesn't make any sense of speaking in plural without naming the countries that apply. Secondly, you argue that they do not allow the doctors use cheaper, generic drugs when the exact opposite is usually true in countries with subsidised (free or nominal fee) healthcare systems: doctors have a list of approved drugs that are only generic unless there in none available and the doctor can justify the cost. So, if there is, say, a 3-a-day generic drug that works he must give a preference to that instead of a one-dose drug. The third reason is safety. Anyone remember talidome babies? The drug was SUPPOSED to be safe. By the time a drug is generic, its safety is well-tested and the government and the doctors employed by it cannot reasonably be sued in case of a rare and unforeseen complication.
That is one of the reasons why private healthcare survives along with free healthcare: those who can afford and are willing to pay for new drugs can do so.
@@ronyan The UK. Doctors can be prevented from using non-approved drugs. In the US, many doctors have used drugs that have not been trialed. If we look at ivermectin, there are many small trials, too small to be significant, and non-significant results may not be published. Some trials have weaknesses This results in bias of meta-analyses. A properly controlled trial is required, as has been done for dexamethasone. For calcifediol, the Spanish study compared the intervention group with the control for comorbidities. Their own numbers showed that the randomisation was flawed. Nobody seems to have repeated this trial rigorously.
The reason that pre-existing anti-viral drugs are not being discussed is greed- pure and simple.
The research was done. They were not efficacious. I'm not saying the pharmaceutical companies are moral entities, but that research was done.
@@nicolesdad0 Since you know they were not efficacious , then tell us which ones are you talking about .....

@@wd1501 I think you're missing the point WD. John reports what is happening on any given day. The trials around the world are ongoing with Ivermectin so it's not his responsibility to cover that. I know the advocates of Ivermectin are disappointed and frustrated but others are content to wait for those trials to finish. Either way, you can't blame John.

You are right Dr. John, governments should move and organize trials for promising generic drugs like Ivermectin...etc. If Pfizer's drug works it would be hella expensive. Poor countries will not afford such drug.
Poor countries can not afford some drugs. Guess what, poor people in rich countries can't afford it either.
As I stated in another comment, there is an affordable antiviral "drug" already available at every pharmacy, drugstore, or online. Shouldn’t their motivation during a pandemic be to save lives and not merely invent ways to make more money? Asking for a friend.
Corporations don't act morally, they act profitably. The Officers and Directors of a Corporation have a fiduciary responsibility to act in the interest of "The Owners". They could be personally sued if they promoted Ivermectin, since that would cost shareholders billions of dollars in profits. But wait again... It can always get worse.... Some people will actually need liver transplant because of Ivermectin abuse, and among those, are young people who never were really infected with covid-19, they were just taking it as a 'prevention'. Due to incidents like that, most doctors are ditching Ivermectin and going out of their way to raise awareness to these issues, and they are clashing often with other doctors that pretend this whole think is not happening. Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD), the manufacturer of Ivermectin made public statements, both in portuguese and english, pointing out the fact they've found no scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against covid-19 in vivo and no meaningful evidence for clinical efficacy in patients with covid-19 at any stage of the desase, and the risk that it may be unsafe as it's being used. @@mjwilliamsb2676 Yes exactly. The virus attaches to the nerve from the eye to the brain and flares up externally in a "quadrant" from tip of the nose to top of your head.
The nightmares! Was sitting up in the hospital bed and was (hallucinating) in an army jeep being driven by soldiers while the Viet Cong complete with those straw hats and black "pyjamas" lined up along a track whipping my face with thin bamboo sticks! NOT good but yes some horrific side effects.
💕Thank you John💞💖💞
Due to the wide range and non-specific nature of COVID symptoms, developing an accurate, preferably at-home test, is just as important as an antiviral drug.
In the US there already is an at home test. You can also drive to a pharmacy and take the test from within your car, self administered.
Will you buy it if it's $100 a test? Or how much would you buy it?
@@IMSiegfried The operative word is ‘accurate.’ The current at-home tests are not accurate and the “gold standard” PCR test has a 30% failure rate. They have to be better, cheaper, and accessible. Period.
*The drive thru, self-administered tests (Fast tests) have a high failure rate. (False negatives and positives).
Ivermectin might be a cheaper option ...seems to help. Pharma companies will never let a crisis go to waste, will they? I wonder how quickly Pfizer will get approval for use by FDA et al? They'll probably get it under 'emergency' or 'provisional' approval. Meanwhile, Ivermectin is still largely being put on the slow track for investigation.
The 'good' doctor knows it well, but lacks the stones to say it.
@@davidotness6199 If you had the wit to understand you would know that is exactly what he is saying.
Yes, governments and health insurances need to step in to finance trials for repurposed drugs.
Private pharma normally have most of the research done with public money or the buy the right from universities and then price gauge, especially in the usa.
Thank you for all the hard work John! First class, something is desperately wrong in the stance of the Governments regarding the lack of action on this matter?!
There seems to be a general "lack of ability" not to mention moral fortitude, in many Governments.
Hancock has been a disaster, but he'll keep patting himself on his own back ,hospitals are still not totally equipped properly. They spent thousands if not more on nightingale hospitals that where really not used but they made sure all beds in local hospitals where full to bursting, they stopped people who need cancer and other medical requirements. And to top it all he had Dr Tess Lowrie report since 4th January and didn't even have the decency to reply to her ,hes a disgrace

This "Doctor" supports financial interest over the Health of people. You don't need a new drug, Ivermectin is cheap to produce and purchase and has incredible results.
Look it up mate :)

@@jigglerjohn You don't need to be a Doctor to see what is going on here mate.
@Tom Nicholson From my point of view it seems a feigned interest as he claims to not know of the many trials that have been carried out with regard to Ivermectin. He states he wants a Govt to fund trials then just leaves it at that when the trials I mention are public knowledge AND show nothing short of amazing results.
Come at me again if you like. Or, have a nice day. :)

As a Doctor he should know better.

Another interview with Tess Lawrie on Ivermectin please.
If there is another interview with her it needs to be much shorter. The first one was far too long and would have benefited from editing.

She will be on Dr. Been channel this coming week.
@@gerardacronin334 Possibly, depends on how much she has to say - I thought her interview was excellent. We are now seeing though why Ivermectin has been ignored - by the so called trustworthy health regulators etc ....there is a vicious web of interconnectivity between them and financiers (Bill Gates), other pharma, medical suppliers and of course the government. Repurposed drugs that already exist.. but this is a novel oral antiviral drug.... and it could be approved by the end of the year? Whaddabout the old drugs? No money, therefore no motivation.
Thanks Dr John great info!
I am from a small town in the STATES and joined a small group of class mates today (first time in a vert long time). We graduated high school in 1967 and was pleased to find out we had all had our 'jabs.' Granted, it was only about 10 of us, but anyone younger than us was afraid to take the vaccine. And we all agreed that had we been younger, we might have agreed with them, BUT we were mostly afraid NOT to take the jab. And VERY pleased it was available. Of course, at our age, we worried about our children and grandchildren. I thank God every day that I didn't have small children at home to worry about! What a strange time we live in!
Your way of thinking is very reasonable! Everyone would calculate their risk to decide whether or not to take the vaccine. I hope all people in the world with high risk of covid complications can get their vaccine jabs ASAP.
Anti virals should have been available from day one .
There were some antivirals but they had big side effects. Tamiflu being one of them. In the UK, there would have been a lot of concerns about it and a lot of hesitancy
safe anti-virals are tricky to create
There is an antiviral that comes from nature. It's a mushroom called Cordyceps.
I take public transportation (a bus), to the grocery store, pharmacy, and medical appointments.
The I take a mushroom supplement that contains Cordyceps. I've been doing this for over a year.
So far, so good!
But if I get Covid, I will go for Ivermectin.
I watch your daily updates. Your presentation is fantastic and thanks for your enthusiasm to get us rid of this terrible virus. Keep the good work up ! (:
Good evening doctor Campbell
Thanks Dr. Campbell for your channel.
Ivermectin deserves a global trial .
Ivermectin has gone through many trails all over the world. Dr Lawrie and her colleagues and many other professionals have gathered trails finding and produced in depth papers. Ivermectin is approved by WHO and has been around for at least 4 decades-
I am so baffled as to why the government is not looking at this data....
I think most people are...could it be because Pfizer is making their own version of it? 🤔
Baffled? Don't be. The reason is called "regulatory capture", where those officials in regulatory agencies are unduly influenced by companies in the industry they are charged with regulating.
@@quantumac You seem to be forgetting that even if drug company only charged 10 cents a pill for Ivermectin they could make a fortune in profits since there are billions of people in the world who would want to have it on hand in case they got Covid.
go back and listen from 15:17 he almost said ivermectin I don't understand why
@@IMSiegfried Wrong since Ivermectin is presently available in huge amounts currently and is being made by many different drug companies. Pfizer wouldn't want to reduce profits competing with others and it certainly wants to corner the market on a high priced pill regardless of who dies/who can afford it. I bet the trials show the 'new' drug is less effective and more harmful than Ivermectin yet will still be pushed forth although way more expensive. Meanwhile Ivermectin will continue to sit on the sidelines in capitalist-controlled countries as poor folks die.
Since it works on all corona virus, may it be useful for the common cold & flu?
That would be handy :)
All these drugs are going to have some effect in a wide range of disease (IF politics and profit don't get in the way)

Thanks John - I will ask my MP the question.
I love trying to follow the science😊Great teacher Mr C. I gave you chemistry when I was 14🤣🤣🤣
With out a little knowledge on the science your normally going in blind ,but to cut it to its shortest version this "NEW DRUG" stops IMP alfa from putting virus into the nuculas, which is exactly what Ivermectin does
Just as a reminder, ivermectin and chloroquine also showed some efficacy in vitro. It is good to keep the hopes up, but let us wait for in vivo results
Really appreciate your straightforward explanations, Dr John :-). I've seen v few articles/press pushing the seemingly excellent (so far) efficacy of the SaNOTize nasal spray. It would be great to have your view on this treatment.
During the swine flu epidemic drug companies bought up world supplies of star anise seeds to make oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and it was hard to get them for Chinese cooking - plus they were more expensive if you could find them.
Got a boatload while they were cheap.
I have been taking protease inhibitors for years to suppress HIV. The patent for new medicines is for seventeen years, I believe. This helps to pay for the research and development. R&D is expensive and companies spend a lot, and may fail to bring a drug to market. There are more misses than hits. My father worked for Johnson& Johnson.
Great Job!!

Finding cheap cures definitely not a good business model, finding expensive remakes of old drugs, spot on 👍 capitalistic medicine doesn't want us well or healthy, no profit in that! Drs might want to make us well, but pharmaceutical business will never require it.
@Dr. John Campbell, could you maybe present to us current knowledge on old drug "Amantadine". Clinical trails are being started in Poland after some voices were raised that this drug had helped a lot of people to recover from covid quickly
You have access to all the same knowledge as John.
Thank you once again. Much appreciated
Hello Doctor,
I remember learning in my pharmaceutical modules in my university studies, that there is really no need in having large cohorts for trials in actuality. That there is a certain number required which is much smaller than is currently acceptable or currently used. This lower number of cohort will give the same results as the larger ones. Can you confirm for me and your viewers, if this thought is more theoretical or actual, Doctor?
Tldr no it was based on a blank slate theory which is false. Gender, age, race all matter far more significantly than originally presumed.
Same disease can have different symptoms . Therefore its rather unwise to test example only young males and assume that it translates to whole population.
That only really become known once the whole hyman genome has been sequenced.
Example different races, ethnicities metabolize certain compounds at different rate. Etc.
How's the trial using Aspirin and Vitamin D getting on?
There are a few headaches.
