Dave is such a nice guy always ready to help and knows everything.. what a legend..I have watched so many of his videos on fork rebuild and it has helped me do my mates race bikes so much
Professor Dave, you are brilliant! Thanks for the wonderful analysis. I was able to tune the suspension and now my ninja1000sx feels perfect in the corners
Dave is a proper actual expert Everything is important when it comes to suspension and those measurements are critical for performance and safety So whatever Dave charges it’s worth it because not only do you get your bike set optimally, you also get knowledge ☝🏻
On my 2020 z1000sx I can only get rear rider sag down to 33mm with preload all the way in and that’s with the strongest spring I could find! Ktech 110nm.
What a great video instruction. Thank you. It's a lot of informtion for me, so will be watching a few more times. haha... I might have missed it on the first run through, but will all these adjustments affect braking loads onto the forks. I have a 2023 Ninja 1000 SX and was surprised how much the bike moved downward on hard braking.
Setting correct front and rear sag will help a little bit with nose diving under brakes. Applying both front and rear brakes smoothly and evenly at the same time will also help. If you still experience excessive nose dive, you may need firmer springs, but that will come at the cost of a harsher ride.
Hi Dave, nice and informative video. Especially the effect of an underdamped setting on the back tire is great insight! But I don't understand why you adjust compression and rebound damping before setting up the pre-load? It might not have that big effect in this case, but generally I'd adjust that first and tune the damping according to the new spring rate. If change in preload is large, this might lead to some frustration in the first place...
Im getting confused with this HALF ONE talk ??? My bike shows from left to right S - H . So is closed turned left anti clockwise or fully turned right clockwise ?? As i see him adjusting at the wheel from right to left ????.?.. where im going from left to right at 1 1/4 turn ... as it shows to be standard setting ...
The "half, one" is Dave counting out loud as he counts the number of turns he makes. As I understand it, he's counting up in increments of 0.5 turns. Closed (h) is turned fully clockwise as far as it will go. Open (s) is anticlockwise. You can count turns from fully open or fully closed so long as you do it the same way every time.

12:10 I used to have a pair of Sansui speakers like that. Very informative video.
Simply a legend Dave is. I set all my bikes up from his videos . Big thanks Dave
Thanks for this video. I will definitely go and check my Z1000SX out. I will have to watch it a few times though.
The bike Doctor in session!
Wish i could found someone like you to set my bike that was awesome
I got a 2020 1000Sx. This video was very helpful. Thank you for posting!
This guy knows his shi! .He's a professor of handling, suspension and ride technology!. Thanks for posting, ill be checking mine.
Ok.... I'm looking at my bike.... you lost me on every step after that...
The knowledge here is awesome. Great video.
Not "chicken strips"...those are wisdom strips!
Great video, but above my head. Had to watch twice, he is like a super Forensic bike master-builder
Great line “I always have chicken strips if I can’t win at 95% it’s not my day.”
Mega advice Dave, just got 1 of these after the 10R so will be making some changes myself
really nice... love the way he is explaining everything. keep it up ...
Brilliant enjoyable video to watch 👍🏻🏴
You are truly a bike doctor doctrine 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Spring rate won't change with changes in preload.
Because there was no compression damping at all on the front forks due to being out of range. He put it into range.
They already did sag so small readjustment.
God of suspension
I would love Dave to tune my gsx 1000. I have chased it ever since I bought it and I can’t get it right.
Learned more in these 12 mins than I did in 45 years of riding 😂😱
genius
Bella moto !with compliments!
Great video, i will tray to do on my SX
You the man bro!
Nice excellent video.
Great video!!!!!
I was reading my brand new Dunlop Q3 plus rear tire..... it told me I had 2 nails in it after a few weeks riding. How pissed was I ?
Very!
Very interesting

He seems to have lost some of his accent? Spent a lot of time in the states?
Love the mufflers, what brand is that?
George Servanis Not my bike so not 100% sure, but they look like Brock’s Performance Penta-Carbon.

I know it's science, but it still seems like witchcraft :-)
I felt like that for ages too! I think it's one of those skills that needs hands on experience and lots of repetition to really internalize.
You obviously don’t know what a K is. It’s a thousand in most parts of the world. Not gonna ride for 20k before checking again
I’m lost here
No, you're in suspension.
