    Just starting my basement arcade and this is for sure on my list - the prices have come down a bit but the prices for the control deck seem to have stayed about the same ($200). So many other reviews seem to skip over a lot of the basics whereas this review covers them - Thank You!

    I want to see someone no death speedrun Metal Slug 3 on this thing, stock... no joystick lol. The crazy thing is someone can likely actually do it, but nobody cares to attempt it. Great video, idk if i commented before since UA-cam loves to scrub my comments but i watched it twice now in anticipation of my ALP arriving in a few days.

    Been thinking of buying one of these but they do not have the Williams tables on them and sort of been put off by some of the negative issues raised.
    Good to hear a balanced review where all the pros and cons are discussed.

    Wait…so you can connect your Switch to this and play all the tables you have on there? I’ve been recently curious about getting one of these, but have multiple tables on my Switch where I think it would be best played on one of these 🙌 Easy as just moving the files over from the Switch to a separate flash drive, then plug n play? 😮 if so, SOLD!

    You don't have to get the control deck. I'm pretty sure you can plug in a USB game controller and use it for the arcade games.

    It's just crazy that any company would sell something like this, hear about issues users are unhappy with, and not immediately issues fixes, but offer more stuff to buy to fix it or let other company's come out with upgrades. You'd think they had more pride in their product than this. I'm waiting until I hear better news about newer machines before paying this much.

    I love real pinball, never cared for video pinball. I've never actually seen one of these in person so I'm not sure whether or not I would even like it. Sams had them for $399 today; I've purchased it twice, and cancelled my purchase twice. I wish I had a way to actually test one in person, maybe I'd change my mind. I just found out yesterday that there's a place about 20 mins from me in Morgantown WV called "Starport" that has 3 floors of arcade machines and a large number of pinball machines, including the new Godzilla machine! They even host pinball tournaments. I just watched a walkthrough video of the place on youtube, and it looks incredible! I think I'd rather spend money playing the real thing for now since I have that option, and save my home space for the few 1up's that I loved as a kid. I haven't seen a video pinball yet that compares to the real feel of a steel ball banging into bumpers and targets.

    • @TheRetroCellar
      @TheRetroCellar  Рік тому

      Nothing compares to the feel of real pinball, so you have to weigh the pros and cons of getting a digital table. The major pro is the cost. A real table will cost you thousands and require more maintenance than a digital. With a digital table, you get many tables to choose from, whereas you only have the one table with a real one. Still...a real table would be amazing.

      @@arcadeslum5882 I think it's worth $600 at least. Just shopping around for an empty cabinet KIT is north of $1k on all the sites i have checked. I plan to add the arcadestuff backbox which is an additional $530, plus a gaming PC which will likely run around $1k lol.
      This is NOT a cheap hobby to break into but if you ever seen a ALP fully modded and playing VPX you'll know it's worth it if you're a fan of pins.
      You can even add in solenoids for about $130, a lot of people get new skins as well for about the same price.
      OR you can find one stock on the cheap if you're lucky and just leave it stock 🤗
      On a side note i do think the stock art looks really good, i normally hate stock art on multicades etc.

      @@EQOAnostalgia I got mine only a couple of weeks ago, with patience I was able to pick it up for $450! I definitely think it's original MSRP was a fair price, especially what the competition was asking for their machines (Toy Shock, Arcade1Up). With all the mods I have lined up, it'll bring the cost to a little over $800.

    Immediate dislike for recommending the theft of community work in the visual pinball space. This is a slap in the face to the hundreds of hours that the creators put into the work on the tables. I recognize this video is already a year old but seriously... go into the UA-cam editor and chop that section out of the video! From 8:00-8:25.

  • @gmee123

    The tables that come stock are pretty sucky to be honest. I just bought the machine from a liquidator and I bought this strictly hoping to play FX 3 or VPX on it...without those , this isn't worth the money or time. Zaccaria tables look amazing on a good quality monity / pc, but over all those tables are pretty boring to me. Certainly not worth the asking price ATGAMES is trying to charge.
