I'm recovering from a brain tumor surgery and dunno why, but I looove watching furniture restoring, I have never done one and I can't do it but LOVE to watch! Especially you Christina!!! You are a queen!!! ❤❤❤❤🎉
It's amazing how squaring the curves on the base of the dresser brought it back into modern times! Beautiful job! I love watching old, tired, discarded furniture come back to life by skilled artisans such as yourself. It just goes to show what vision, skill, time & effort can do!
Such a good trick to add a bit of blue to the stain to counteract the red in the wood! The lighter colour definitely gives it a much more fresh and modern feel 😍👏👌
I love to refinish my marketplace finds and inherited pieces. I haven’t tackled a strip and restain in years and I love to learn about new products and techniques. Your videos are very motivating for me. Thank you for the inspiration and the clear instructions. I have saved many of your videos for future projects. 😁
Thank you for the tip about numbering the drawers. I had no idea and I’m dealing with a piece right now where the drawers are not going in the way they came out. Oops. I’m also painting the body because I am way too lazy to sand the whole thing and I’m not dealing with all wood. I’m dealing with particleboard, but it does look like wood so I used the au aunatural a little water, and I added farmhouse beige from Jolie, mixed it together for my stain and it seems to be coming out pretty nice. It was my old TV stand and I’m using it as an entry table now it has an open center with shelving with three drawers on each side so I thought it would be good for storage. I hope it works. I’m actually gonna paint the body with Dixie Bell, Spanish moss, wish me luck! And I’m also cutting off the bottom and using gold feet for the first time I’ve never done this so a little nervous about that one and I’m changing out the hardware
I've been checking out furniture flipping videos for some months now, collecting ideas & considering the hustle potential. Always having been crafty, I've done some refinishing & learned a little wood working over the years. What's happening now, (post export of a lot of manufacturing & cheap furniture products dominating the U.S. market) has amazing positive potential. I like where your journey has led & look forward to checking out your videos About content creation.
I love watching the process of redoing furniture, I also love learning what to look for in furniture, like dove tailed drawers and solid wood verses veneer. I currently don't have space to flip furniture or do projects for myself but hey ya never know plus knowledge is power! Beautiful work.
That’s incredible! Definitely a job for a dedicated artist like yourself. I enjoy watching your reveals! I’m a disabled senior citizen but can admire your lovely pieces from afar.
I like to watch you do your magic and get tips for my own redo's. I don't do it for a living or resale, but I do like to buy old things and fix them up.
Nice came out good. Although I love the vintage look more haha. Those drawers have dovetail joinery too, that's a nicely made piece of furniture. Cheers
Thanks for your thoughts. It is literally the nicest piece of furniture I've ever bought second hand. No veneer, solid wood. Very rare to find in such great condition.
Simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing the idea of mixing the on natural with the denim blue to neutralize that orange. I love how you explain things and encourage us who follow you.
I am always watching for tips and tricks. I just did a cradle make over for a new mama. She absolutely loves the color wash I did with Fusions Algonquin and Champlain with my mister bottle it was just gorgeous.
I am here to learn how to makeover a few pieces in my home. Thank you for providing these lessons! I. In the process of repainting a FB marketplace rescue that needed some love thanks to your tutorials!
Wow, this turned out stunning. I'm watching because I have a table set I want to refinish. You're the first person that's shown how to counteract the orange undertones. Thank you!!
I really enjoy watching videos and I soak them up because I do flip furniture for a hobby and I have learned everything I know from videos and doing it. Thanks for always having a great video. This is beautiful.
This dresser looks so much better. I have learned so much from your videos on how to redo a furniture piece. I have done a few smaller pieces myself but I love watching a great before and after furniture flip. I live in the middle of Canada so it’s too cold to work in my garage right now. I have a dresser my mother had in her home growing up that I want to redo this spring. It’s fun to do these projects.
So pretty! I have a dresser i started then "parked" because life happened. I used a carbide scraper and found it to be very "zen" and satisfying. You have inspired me to start again when it warms up.
Stunning!!! This finish made the piece much more timeless and also able to blend with a variety of decor styles. I love the way the tone of the stain and the 'new' color of the hardware look together! ❤
I was looking for a way to do a natural finish on an older dresser we have, also solid wood. I stumbled on your video and learnt a lot. I'm glad that you removed the draws to refinish as I've watched a couple now that are actually refinishing while leaving the draws in. Anyway, thank you for a great video, love the end result of all your hard work.
Nice tutorial, thank you! I'm much older than you and tired of refinishing. I really appreciated your comment that a furniture flipper needs to be flexible - when one method of finish removal isn't working , and, how much sanding is actually involved. Omgosh, how true! I am curious if you can identify the species of wood on this piece; I'm working on something now with very similar grain and color, and im telling myself its cedar, but i really dont know. Thought it was pine until i stripped and sanded it.... Thanks!
I have never used the denim with au natural to take out some of that orange and red color. What a great tip. This turned out great. It’s amazing what a difference the color makes and taking out those scrolls on the base. It’s a brand new dresser.
Thanks for sharing! I like how it turned out. I have painted a whole bunch of thrifted furniture for my house, as well as decor like shelves, frames, and a chandelier. It’s both fulfilling and tiring!
LOVE the final result! Just bought (through your links) the stains and top coat to give it a try on a coffee table. Thanks for the inspiration + for sharing your amazing talent with us.
Very enjoyable video to watch. Right now I am just stripping old oak chairs and rubbing with danish oil, but after 8 chairs I am finally done. I went through a lot of stripper but used wire brushes to get into the grooves. I have two old bureaus that are too dark and want to strip them with a light tone, where I can still see the grain. Your video was very helpful. I like how you modernized the base. I will have to do the same, must be a 60's thing to leave scalloped edges. I like the pale tone - yet you can still see the grain of the wood. Am keeping this video to refer to. Well done.
Like to watch but def here to learn diff techniques to flip furniture as a hobby. Love the creative outlet as each piece is different that I do. One of my favorite easy projects that i did was take a Target black little bookshelf and paint it white. I pushed it up against my white kitchen island and it works!
I'm from Texas.. I am 72, And there's just about nothing.I wouldn't try as a side gig because I enjoy every moment of it. I have Looked at your videos and appreciated them far greater than others. And some of the features I have been hesitant to accomplish because of being just intimidated. But I am definitely entertained by your videos. So little by little I'm trying these challenges. Until I get better.I cannot afford all the best equipment, but I do have some Ryobi products. I ll keep watching.
Great question! Lately I’m just watching furniture being flipped! You do keep me motivated! I have a 1920s full size sleigh bed the wood I think is mahogany and Rosewood . I just want to lighten it up. It’s never been painted. I’m just afraid to tackle it!!
Watching to learn to do my first ever piece which is going to be my kitchen table I'm very excited and wrote everything down so I would get it right but now I'm going to watch more of your videos before I start the process very excited and hopefully I do good enough to make a little side business for extra cash thanks for having this channel to help others like me around the world ❤😊
New subscriber. Your video was right on time. My bedroom furniture looks like this minus the hardware. It is so heavy, but my plan is to recreate the same look to revamp my bedroom. Thank you for the tips and tricks.
Lots of work sanding but it was worth it! It looks like a maple dresser? I'm asking because I have solid maple furniture I'm debating weather to sand the old orangey finish off completely or just the top. Your video today is making me lean towards sanding it all down. Ugh!!!
I've been so focused on sanding. I didn't really inspect it to try to figure out what kind of wood it was. Maple seems like a good guess. I'll try to investigate this week. Sanding is hard work but so worth it. You can do it!
@ChristinaMuscari thank you! Today, my leaning is toward painting the bottom and sanding the top and top drawer fronts down to bare wood. That's how I flip flop!!! It's cold here in the Toronto area so I have a couple of months before I take it out to the garage to begin and finalize my plan!
I would love this look with my kitchen cabinets. They are a nice solid wood (not oak, possibly pine? They have knott holes) but have gotten orangey since the original owner put them in more than 20 years ago. Is there an easier way to lighten them? Lol
Beautiful job, couldn't believe you got that orange to go away, then adding the butter to bring out the woods beauty, just gorgeous. Yeah, nobody likes to be in the house when you boil hardware. Nice kick off yo 2024!!!😊
I'm looking to redo a dining room table in the same way. The finish is dark and I worry that the wood underneath will be dark as well. I hope your approach will work for me. Thank you for making these videos for us newbies!
Here it is 2am and I’m researching complimentary colors! Had you considered using the teal stain instead of denim blue? I suppose the moss green would have been too yellowish. I have a matching shaker style dark cherry nightstand and long dresser set that I want to update…. After looking at several videos I think yours sold me on stripping and staining using these products, carbide scrapper here I come!
You've inspired me to strip down the espresso finish from a cherry wood vanity to lighten with Au Natural gel stain or something close to it. Can you give me a tip on what color to add to the Au Natural tone down the reddish cherry color? Thanks for sharing some great tips, like stovetop cooking the hardware. Nice job!
This has been so helpful! My parents bought me something for my house (can’t even remember) and the person gave us a small floor cabinet too haha! It’s a very sturdy cabinet it just is very orange and has no shelves inside so I’m trying to give it a makeover for our spare room 😊
I am LOVING your channel! I am starting to get into this and you provide so much info that I feel like I can do it. I will be inheriting some pieces that I’d love to get suggestions on or advice and was wondering if you ever connect one on one with others to help with a project? I am keeping the items for myself just trying to update them and would love some mentoring during the process.
Hi Nicole. This is great. I do offer online coaching but it is priced pretty high with how busy my schedule is. prettydistressed.as.me/schedule/704410b8
Love the look! I’m refinishing my childhood desk to a makeup center & want to achieve the same look! Suggestions on spindles? They have been hard getting the old stain off! Lots of elbow grease 😅 Since this will have higher usage what do recommend for the finish coating?
So beautiful! Your video are very inspiring for me to paint everything by myself. What do you suggest I have Thermo foil armoires in my kitchen and they said we cannot paint them, since for me you are the pro, can you help me if I can paint them? Thank you in advance. I am a French women from Quebec, Canada.
Nice flip, Christina. Love the color correction of the staining. One product I'm looking for is a nice rolling stool. Do you like yours? Didn't see it in the list. Would love a good recommendation. Thanks!
Hi, I just found your channel and it has been super helpful!!! I’ve got a dresser and nightstand set from my college days, many years ago, that I want to paint and redo. I’m thinking of going with Dixie bell paints and the pieces are a little lighter than the one in this video. I want to either whitewash the top or do a light stain. Going for a mixture of dried sage and Savannah mist colors and maybe the grey wax as a top coat. I have two questions: 1) after scuff sanding should I prime? 2) Can you use wax as topcoat and then add a clear coat for additional protection? I’m thinking the wax might repel the top coat. 3) How much paint would a chest of drawers and nightstand take in paint? Not sure how much to order. 4) Can you mix colors with the Dixie belle all-in one paint? 5) Can you use the mineral paint on raw wood? That about it for now. lol Thanks and love your channel!!! Will be watching
This piece is just beautiful! You have such great ideas. Question: how many hours of prep work did this piece take? The gel finish remover, then the scraping, then the sanding? It is helpful for us to know how much time these things take! Thanks!
Thanks for watching. This is a great question and always so hard for me to answer because with all the filming I do it really slows me down. The project was about 4 days of work, so without the filming it was probably around 5-6 hours of work.
Hi! I noticed you didn’t use a wood conditioner. I have a dining table that was sanded down to the natural wood. Would you recommend a wood conditioner if I just want to seal it to keep the natural color? TIA!! Love your work 😍
I have a 90's mahogany-finish secretary with serpentine drawers that I'd love to refinish like this! Have you ever updated something with a finial? I don't know if I should cut off all the decorative wood at the top. I don't have your vision.
You make it look so easy. Have a bedroom door from 1956 that has groves in it so going to use wood filler and than strip the varnish off and re-stain. Think I need you to come and HELP! Lol. .
If you had not had the denim stain and only the white, could you have added something like on teaspoon of blue chalk paint to achieve the same result? Thank you.
Quick question. Have you ever bleach a piece of wood furniture that is similar to this? I am curious to know what your thoughts are on that. I have a similar piece of furniture (not as red) bit was considering stripping then bleaching - no stain 🤔
Bleaching is always a good idea to get that lighter look. I like the two part wood bleaches for this. Check out this video. ua-cam.com/video/MA0wi9heZ38/v-deo.htmlsi=boerstMOMM0u5p1B
Hi! Do I need to use the carbide scraper? Can I just straight sand to remove the finish? I see a lot of people applying a "finish remover/stripper?" What are your thoughts on this? I have a large 10 person cherry wood dining table I want to change to natural wood as well as some ugly yellow night stands and a coffee table!
I have a cherry stained dresser, tall chest and nightstand very similar to this. Can u suggest what color stain to use if i wanted a bit more pale gray undertone instead of the natural pinkish undertones ? My walls are are a greenish gray neutral called Sensible Hue. Thanks! Thanks!!
I'm recovering from a brain tumor surgery and dunno why, but I looove watching furniture restoring, I have never done one and I can't do it but LOVE to watch! Especially you Christina!!! You are a queen!!! ❤❤❤❤🎉

Hope you feel better ❤
@GetMarvelDeals I had a Cavernoma Tumor in the brain stems...

That about it for now. lol
Thanks and love your channel!!! Will be watching
🙃
TIA!! Love your work 😍
Yes you can!
I have a 90's mahogany-finish secretary with serpentine drawers that I'd love to refinish like this! Have you ever updated something with a finial? I don't know if I should cut off all the decorative wood at the top. I don't have your vision.
I have and people got really mad at me, but I loved it. ua-cam.com/video/NJqBAwTCnv8/v-deo.htmlsi=0RLNMJBna0Qi5OLj
Beautiful and greatly updated.
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
You make it look so easy. Have a bedroom door from 1956 that has groves in it so going to use wood filler and than strip the varnish off and re-stain. Think I need you to come and HELP! Lol. .
Hello, how did you strip existing finish / stain from the rounded edges?
Absolutely beautiful !!!
Thank you!
If you had not had the denim stain and only the white, could you have added something like on teaspoon of blue chalk paint to achieve the same result? Thank you.
Yes this would work. I would just water the blue paint down a bit.
That was so much work, but the finished product was well worth it!
Thank you friend. 🥰
Does the stain pebetrate deep into the wood or is it just a surface penetraion? Do you just have to sand off the top 1 or 2 millimeters?
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much!!
Looks great! Excellent job.😊
Thank you! 😊
What type of wood was that? I have one that looks like that natural wood, but am clueless as to wood types!
Thank you. Learning so much❤ Have so many furniture projects. This helps immensely❤
So glad!
Looks soo good Christina!!
Thanks, Kim.
It’s beautiful!! The same technique works for laminate?
You wouldn't be able to remove stain from a laminate since it isn't real wood.
You don't need to use a scraper, it just might make it easier and faster and save you a lot of sandpaper.
I have a cherry stained dresser, tall chest and nightstand very similar to this. Can u suggest what color stain to use if i wanted a bit more pale gray undertone instead of the natural pinkish undertones ? My walls are are a greenish gray neutral called Sensible Hue. Thanks! Thanks!!
