Yes, the scammers are lowlifes but the victims are usually delusional and stoopid. Most of us when gets lovebombed by a much younger (or better looking guy) on the internet it sets off alarm bells for us. Sadly some old folks believe a younger hotter guy / woman is after them and they are happy to send thousands to a person they never met. A fool and their money are soon parted. Some of these stories are sooo infuriating, not only because the scammer's bold lies, but also because the foolishness of the victim.
Congratulations, you've outdone yourself. This video is one of the most impressive one-punch recovery moves I've seen in a while: the coding, the clickbait, the references from other channels/people... *Strong widget* just knows an opportunity to recover lost money when he sees one.

You mean at 84 that’s a major RED FLAG my mom is 63 and very beautiful who looks 50 thick hair, no wrinkles she’s married to my Dad though but I’m sure men still find her attractive . My grandma is 82 and no I can’t imagine her dating at her age 😳
@Paris-ei5yv I'm similar to your mum I'm 65 but still attractive, and looking younger and attracting the attention of men. so many times at the shops, men are following unnaturally close behind me for long distances, which I find uncomfortable and wish they wouldn't. Usually men 20s-50s. It happens so much now I keep an eye out for it, and walk very fast and cut across the corridor to another one to get away. So I'm attractive, but I feel at my age, if someone was interested in "dating" I'd like it to be polite really and dignified- not "hot and sexy".
These online scammers go to extremes with their love talk! 😆At least if you get romance scammed in person you get some physical touch out of it. With online, you get NOTHING
You cannot save people from their own stupidity. Don't even try. I am old. I am linely. I have been alone for 54 years. Thank GOD I have some common sense.
These senior ladies need to stay off the internet. Women who think they should give their money to a man they have never met...are too vulnerable to be on the internet.
This is happening to my elderly cousin right now. It's crazy because she's a super smart person but she keeps falling for it. It's happened like 3 times so far
A life insurance policy on her husband, an IRA, selling your parents' home after they die, all can be a windfall in your senior years. Even if you have never had much $ during your lifetime.
This is not loneliness. Loneliness can be cured by doing volunteer work, or going to church, or spending time with grandkids, or hobby groups, etc etc. This woman is still putting on tons of makeup and painting her nails red, like she's trying to re-live her sexy youth. There's a whole other problem going on here.
@@pm2886there's nothing wrong with her wearing make up and painting her nails red, women like to look nice, the problem is she believed a man 20 years younger than her was in love with her and she sent nearly $200,000
Me I'm a cynic and would play along with him. Plus I have no time for romantic dating sights. Have a squadron of animals who keep me totally insane. I was happily married for only 38 years so some man would have to pass my not a domesticated female test. Not in my contract to clean, iron, cook and maintain a house. I would go nuts.
I block the second I get a cut and paste of 'Hello. I have been wanting to be friends with you, but have been blocked. I find your posts very funny and enlightening. Please message me so we can be friends'. That I knew by heart! No random stranger is going to take that much interest! Plus, you check their sites and they are all Christian, all have American flags,, and al in military and/or construction. Since none of those things interest me but must to other people, and the pages have no depth, you know it;s a scam. I don't get to sob story stage as I report the second they approach me!
My grandmother become a widow at 80. Thereafter she lived 20 years as a "lonely" (without seeking for a partner) I harmony with herself, free, independent, and satisfied.
Yep, that's how normal, mentally healthy women do it. I have a friend who lost her husband at 42, and is still single today, 18 years later. She's not interested in replacing him. They had a wonderful 15 years together, created a family, and she has a full life now. Very busy, lots of activities, a career, travel, etc etc.
I'm sorry something hurt you that badly. Some of my pain was my own doing. I own my mistakes and have learned from them. I hope I get the chance to put those lessons into practice. My former FIL is almost 99 and he found a woman about 8-9 years ago after MIL died. She is now about 89 and they're happy.
I'm a senior and when I was told I was "gorgeous" by a fellow, I knew he was up to no good. People have since encouraged me to date but I refuse. You never know a persons ulterior motive and I don't need the drama and I'd rather be alone anyway.
You are a smart woman! 👏👏 More seniors need to think logically & trust the mirror. Sounds harsh but you'll get to keep your money and peace of mind. Well done!

Sir Paul McCartney is 81, Mick Jagger is 80, Helen Mirren is 78. People stay the same on the inside. But yes the internet is not a safe place for ordinary older people and they should be meeting people in person.
@@SueRosalieRich celebrities are always in demand, plus they can afford to screw up. The problem is social media and fake Instagram scammers have blurred the lines between fantasy and reality for the common man. Everyone is seeking and believing they deserve a fairytale life of the rich and famous.
She is obviously very lonely and most people need human touch. She was looking for someone to care about her. If you are alone, at any age, it’s natural to want companionship. I wouldn’t judge her, as she may not have family or friends in her life. I don’t believe she’s stupid. I’m sure she started to realize his situation didn’t add up, but she wanted to keep the connection with him. It’s so sad. She was the perfect victim. There is an epidemic of loneliness, especially among senior citizens. I’m trying to be part of the solution, befriending elderly neighbors who are alone. It’s good for me, also!

She already knew he had a thick accent and was difficult to communicate with. So instead she “fell in love” with his BS texts and some photos. Had the guy not been a scammer, their “relationship” would have consisted of her footing all the bills with a loser she couldn’t even talk to and understand. Sounds ideal. Not!
If she were honest, she'd say "fell in lust." If I marry again, I don't plan on being celibate but I'm worth waiting for and he's going to have to. p.s. I'm almost 77.
You cannot fall in love with someone you do not know or have not met, however you can be in love with love......Being lonely is awful but being ripped off under false pretenses........evil.
This probably won’t be popular, but I have no pity for her. It’s beyond my comprehension how she, and others, are so completely delusional. Completely asinine. I’m 78 years old. I would never fall for any type of BS like this. Unbelievable! If she has kids they are probably beyond angry for her losing her life savings.
it happens many times over around the world. 10,000 per month where I live. It's so unfair to the families. Many of the so called victims say "my family tried to warn me but I ignored them anyway" and they will do it in secret. Even worse, after getting scammed they go back and do it again. Many women and men have been scammed multiple times. It's like a gambling addict at Vegas.
I don't, either. My great grandmother was almost a decade older than this lady before she passed, and even at that age she would have *NEVER* fallen for something like this.

Right they don't even want another 62 year old my Mom is 50ish great looking, in shape, slender still, and SHE laughs at men that claim they want an old woman.
I don't understand why people send money to total strangers when they probably wouldn't give money to their own family. If you want to meet in person and they don't, or keep stringing you along, then drop that person. They're wasting your time. If they don't call or FaceTime when you ask, this should be a signal to you to think twice.
Sometimes you never know. Even millionaires falls victims. Those scammers are so smart that it could happened to anyone. Chatting with someone makes us feel good. So to say when scammers telling you, they want help and sending you papers with logo seals making you think what they said it true. From what's going around the world 🌎🌎 more people should be vigilant. Everyday on the news, News papers etc including Dr, Phil tv shows he has people who don't listen thinking our love boy is who he seems to be when he's not. More people should watch Australia crime scam. BBC ABC news etc...
The best way to keep from being strung along is to not allow someone to string you along. Even in real life, in person dating, people will sometimes try to string someone along. They can only do it with your permission.
I met my husband online. We had a real date one week after the initial message on the dating website. There is nothing wrong to look for a friend or lover on the net, but if you don't meet in reality there is no relationship.
This is what happens when people center their entire lives on relationships with absolutely nothing else in their lives. No hobbies, activities, no interests, no continued learning, no goals, spiritual strength, friends, nothing but the quest for romantic "love."

You have to be real who in the hell in their right mind would believe that a younger man wants an old woman. Unrealistic expectations. Love-bombing is the first red flag. Fake contracts, never coming to meet you. Talking about marriage. Telling you not to tell your children about them, until we tell them together in person.
i wish these women would watch the movie DODSWORTH--well, everyone should watch it. it s about a wealthy older woman who pursues a series of romances with younger men
Who the he'll would want an older men? I wonder, yet society is much more lenient with men! Donald Trump is about 25 years younger than his wife and nobody bats an eye. Emanuel Macron has the same age gap with his wife but he is the younger one and they give him hell for it!!
The love she is seeking is in community service -- the children who go hungry everyday in this country (13 million) ... if we gave our hearts, minds and money to helping others we would be FILLED with love and fulfillment.
Not for her, if she was falling for You look sexy and hot, You look gorgeous, We'll probably spend 24 hours in bed, she's not going to be fulfilled with community service. But she's delusional if she believes those flatteries.
Have you noticed that Nigerians have studied Americans and their behavior very well. I am convinced that these are not individual scammers, but groups of specialized people. It's kind of like a call center. I'm sure you talk to a different person every day. That's why they have so much time for you. And the simple questions they ask: are you okay? You're great, I love you... These are typical sentences that Americans throw at each other.
They havent studied anything and for you to say that means you arent very smart. All they need to do is keep trying and someone will be stupid enough to believe them.
You are 100% correct. Other channels have interviewed the people involved with these scams and it's groups of usually 14-19 year old boys in poor areas of the world.
This was legitimately so wholesome. You can tell at the ending of getting Your money back that it wasn't scripted at all when *Strongwidget* proposed.... This warmed my heart today! Congratulations Guys! So happy for y'all!…..
Have some empathy. Many seniors are lonely, have cognitive issues, struggle to use technology etc. Makes them more susceptible to these scams than younger generations
So the guy tells her, "we'll likely spend 24 hrs. in bed" and this old lady was thinking she could go 24 hrs. with a dude? lol You couldn't make this up, a fool and their $ are soon parted. Her husband wasn't long in the ground before she was looking for a new man! What was she thinking at her elderly age?. Give up the men/lovers in your elderly years get a dog or a cat for company. You just blew your children and grandchildren's inheritance too. If they never come to visit you I wouldn't blame them.
It’s infuriating that women like her just throw their husbands hard earned money away to give to a total stranger when their husbands just wanted to give them security after they pass.
A HUGE problem with scamming & scammers is that most people are too sympathetic. Offering sympathy only absolves the scammed of responsibility for their brainless actions. Another problem is the terminology. The scammed are most often referred to as "victims". You can only be a door mat if you lay down. Saying that people "met" the scammer online implies a level of intimacy that is completely absent. Saying that someone is in an "online relationship" or did or are dating someone online, having never met in real life, in person, is ridiculous. If that is a relationship then millions of people are dating their banks, their streaming services etc. Scammers love the faux terms, it helps them to scam much easier.
mad respect for him.. i can't even imagine the physical and emotional toll this challenge would put on a person. no doubt this is the best pro on youtube!!! Been watching *Strong widget* for about 2 years now and to see his growth is still good to accept, hes so humble and normal it’s almost like hes been on UA-cam his whole life..,..
If I didn't have a conscience, empathy and ethics, it'd be so easy to scam elderly women online. They fall for the lamest pick-up lines and cheesy poetry.
Many people are so confident when they are young because they still have a sharp mind, young and beautiful. But when you get old like more than 80 years old, you will have been through losses and hardships in your life, you might be lonely, vulnerable and more desperate for love and companionship at that time. Plus you might lose your memory too so you might lose your common sense and make stupid mistakes
Whilst that is true. Most of these people have NOT yet slid into dementia and they ARE willing giving money to their "boyfriend". Scary that you reach that age so lacking in basic common sense.
Another note about the surnames scammers choose. Nigerian scammers in particular don't seem to know that Americans have different ethnic backgrounds. You never see Polish, Italian, German, or any sort of Celtic surname. They can only handle Smith, Jones, Brown, Green, etc. Chris is a favorite, but never Christopher. The spelling is too complicated for them. They also don't do a very good job with matching the face to the made-up name. They'll steal a photo from someone who is obviously of Mediterranean origin and call them Chris Jones.
They often also reverse names or use two last names. But I think they do understand the ethnic diversity, they just go for one that is close to the victim's own or what they think will appeal. Don't forget they do extensive profiling of the person before they hit. I had one, I'm not sure if he was Nigerian or an actual Italian. His Italian was excellent and he gave an address that looked real on Google maps but I happened to be there last month and I'm not sure it's an actual residence. Doesn't matter, that was 2 years ago and I didn't fall for it. He asked for money for a medical situation, not knowing that I knew it would be covered in Italy.
0 sympathy. This scam says more about people's over inflated delusional egos than the mind of the scammer. Who sends thousands to someone you've never met let slone seen.
I'm 64 and single and I'm happy with that. If I met the right person- like, met in the real World- then I would consider becoming part of a couple, but when drop-dead 24-y-o Ukrainian and Slovak girls message me out of the blue to tell me how handsome I am and how they adore older men, something called "common sense" always kicks in.

This guy does more to prevent and stop online scammers than the FBI. not only are you closing the way for scammers, but also educating the public and making them aware. Well done *VAULT GUARD EXPERT* .
I came across one of these online love scams. We chatted and talked for about 6 months, he kept promising to meet but never would. I smelled a rat. So next thing you know he asked for 4K. First of all, I don't give men money and especially if I never met you. Long story short, I went off on him just for asking. That was the last time I heard from him. So regardless of the sob story, it's hard to get scammed if you never come out your pocket.
I wish my mom was as smart as you! She won't stop talking to a scammer and trying to find ways to give him money to bring him here. I've been showing her articles and videos and she shuts me out. Like this isn't happening to her but I have found out she has made 60k in debt for herself with no intention on paying it off. There is clearly no money to show home improvements in the house or another car. She yells at me to leave her alone, she knows what she's doing, and she did something stupid. She has never been a two face liar but seven months ago is when all this started. Blaming me for things when she was talking to her friends. Now she won't talk to anyone. Not even me. We both don't have anywhere to live if she loses the house on us. Yet she claims we're not losing the house. I don't want to lose the house! It's all I know with growing up here. Sorry for venting but this situation is very stressful on me and I don't know what to do.
So sorry! Just awful! The best option may be to find out which site she is on, create a fake profile and catfish her! As crazy as it sounds! 😂😂😂 Get her to dumps her “man” . Maybe a couple of new “guys” will be interested in her.

These scams have picked up seemingly endless victims in spite of massive warnings and advice on every form of media. Is being alone so horrible a fate? Don't these folks have ANY other way to live with themselves?
Yes, it can be horrible. I am alone and I recently developed a terrible bursitis in my hip and knee where the pain is worse than childbirth. I don't live in the US, don't drive and live 20 steps up from the street. I don't have the resources to hire help and the evaluation process for aid takes time. Fortunately it is only one side and I have a high pain tolerance. I'm still pretty strong otherwise but I had to buy a walker with a seat just so I can make it to the bus stop. I can manage the walker on and off the bus and even on my stairs but a short excursion exhausts me. My house is borderline unacceptably dirty. I manage to cook simple meals I don't let the dishes sit more than a couple of hours in soapy water but it's not how I'm used to living. Having a companion would be a very nice addition to my life. I don't have friends who are available all the time. I'm going to be 77 in Sept.
People make choices to lie and scam. Other people make choices to live decently and honestly. Don't write off the entire human race because of a population of losers.

Queen, huge red flag, asking if you have had enough rest and if you have eaten are other red flags.

Everything u say is spot on.
This is the case. It's not a guess. They do work in groups usually from Internet cafes in Nigeria.
They havent studied anything and for you to say that means you arent very smart. All they need to do is keep trying and someone will be stupid enough to believe them.
Exactly true. It’s an industry.
You are 100% correct. Other channels have interviewed the people involved with these scams and it's groups of usually 14-19 year old boys in poor areas of the world.

I be damned if I give up $10.00
1:15 in the real world a 62 year old man is looking for a forty something year old. First red flag
You hit the nail on the head ....I agree 100 percent with you 😅😅
mad respect for him.. i can't even imagine the physical and emotional toll this challenge would put on a person.

If I didn't have a conscience, empathy and ethics, it'd be so easy to scam elderly women online. They fall for the lamest pick-up lines and cheesy poetry.
Common Sense.....so very little of it these days.
HER HUSBAND LEFT HER THINGS FOR HER OLD AGE BUT SHE GAVE IT YO THE SCAMMER.
She has done all of that
Another family member should always look after the finances of an elderly person, at that age they sure as hell can't handle money
I don't understand why this woman did not ask to meet in person or video chat before sending a stranger all that money. She just acted on blind faith!
*VAULT GUARD EXPERT* this is SO GOOD!!! I have such disdain for people who lack empathy for hardworking individuals. I LOVE what you said- there's no room for hate, but that doesn't mean you have to like them either. I am SO GLAD you showed up just in time to return the funds to their account.
This is why I watch your videos, and I couldn't admire what you do more. Thank you for protecting innocent people. Thank you for reporting criminals.
Hi *Strongwidget.* To all you guys (male and female) that work so hard, putting a stop to the scams you can stop. I Thank each and every one of you. Please keep up the great work and when I'm able to help you out financially, I most definitely will. In the meantime, keep the excellent help coming. In my mind, you're the best channel on UA-cam by far. Many thanks from a true dedicated fan in the UK. Stay safe all. Thanks. Nicholas.
Just crazy 84 years old on line at her age ...all of that money hopefully she has learned a lesson
Keep seniors away from the ibternet 😢
People are awfully lonely, aren´t they?
Jesus Christ these scammers need to be held accountable. It's messed up what they do to do people!
Bless your heart *AstraTrustHQ* Its SO sad how the scammers prey on the elderly and the uninformed public. Bless you and all others who fight against these crimes. Its horrible how mainstream media is not doing the right thing by shining light on these things to help the public, You’re irreplaceable ❤
I'm going to be 77 in Sept.
it boggles my mind that millennials and Gen Z's fall for various online scams that are so common and so well-known in the media.
They are shallow.
We live in a sad and depraved world. Honestly, I think humans were a mistake.
I agree!
I agree. Humans have ruined our beautiful planet.
So true. I feel that same way more and more very day.
People make choices to lie and scam. Other people make choices to live decently and honestly. Don't write off the entire human race because of a population of losers.
@@elainebmack I'm not referring to only scammers...Also referring to child/animal abusers, r@pists, killers, abusers of all kinds, predators, people destroying the planet for temporary profit etc. I am disappointed in the human race as a whole.
