I’m confused my own review so here is a very quick no BS summery - The glitter (Mica) isn’t visible under most lighting, to take note of so don’t let that be a deciding factor. Oily skin? Don’t buy it. Dry skin - it’s good for you for a glowy look.
Still watching the whole video obviously, but "oily skin don't buy it" is all I needed to know 😅 ... I need more soft matte, natural matte formulas in my life, this glowy trend is not my friend 😂
I tried it with dry skin…with and without primer… I didn’t like the way it set on my skin either. I was so sad. Haus labs foundation has spoiled me!!!❤
I love that you showed it in natural lighting and showed both a neutral and a cool undertoned shade. I'm tempted to try this one because the shades look actually promising for me.
Robert, can you discuss why we want to use color correctors to *cancel out* redness, but select cool or warm base products to *match* our skin’s undertone? Wouldn’t a neutral foundation pretty much always achieve the goal?
Anytime I see another influencer talk about a product, I ALWAYS go to see what Robert has to say about it before buying! Not only do I have oily skin, but his recommendations work best for me. He's also the only one I trust for an honest opinion.
Bought this foundation and tried it a couple of times with different skin prep, and I feel like same thing happened to me... Me and my mom have the same skintone and texture (combination to oily, larger pores) so I asked her to try it and it really worked for her, really gave her this youthful look and kept looking great throughout the day (she used a tiny bit of powder on the T zone and under the eyes). So yeah, I believe it works especially well for more mature skin (whatever the skintype may be) and also happy my mom enjoys it cuz it wasn't a waste of money after all :)
I was wondering what the outcome would be on mature skin. I'm looking for a new foundation that lasts. Thanks for this input. I'm about to be 56. And can't find anything that doesn't look well, horrible. I actually stopped wearing makeup because my own face naked, looked better to me than what I could find.
I'm 51 with combo skin, and I can tell you with all honesty that this is the one and only foundation I have ever purchased and RETURNED because it looked so bad on my skin. I wore it to work, looked in the mirror at lunch and I was absolutely horrified. It highlighted and enhanced texture I didn't even know I had and I was so oily I could have fried an egg on my forehead lol. So not good for my mature skin AT ALLLLLL. ✌️
@@Heyheyrayeraye Wow it really amazes me how makeup works depending on each different person. What was your skin prep? Did you use any powder on top? I am so curious!!
@@SauerPatchGardening I am 21 so I have no idea if this can apply for mature skin in general terms, but from what I have been able to see on my mom when it comes to makeup, I would say skin prep is the most important step and less is more when it comes to mature skin (as I've mentioned in the previous comments, she has combination skin and quite large pores). She's told me that she prefers using complexion products that are more sheer, lighter formulas (never full coverage or any heavy formulas) and build them up when/where she feels like she needs it and also avoid powder as much as possible. Hope this helps!
@@SauerPatchGardeningI’m 43 but know what you mean. I know it’s been a while but I’d thought I’d answer as I really experience this too. I’m a good shade match so I use Dermalogica tinted primer, it looks like skin really and can be mixed with moisturiser and then I used a serum under eye concealer to brighten that’s a bit lighter. I apply tiny bits like Robert suggests and pat it in and then blend out with a brush or blender. A bit of beauty oil under the eye helps if you are dry there. Then contour with an appropriate bronzer or blush. I like brown mascara, tidy brows and a bit of highlighter to the top of cheekbones if I’m feeling sassy. I use low key shades but it’s brightening and protecting but I still see my skin. I’ve ditched foundation and powder completely. Just concealer and a tiny bit of loose powder if needed, I look better than I have in years. Tinted lip moisturiser I like now too.
@@Balletified me too!!! It didn't look great at all! I have dry skin and it just did not work out sadly. Good thing I didn't buy a whole bottle. Sephora was nice enough to give a sample to try it. Big bummer when I had hopes
Taylor Wynn does great in detail foundation reviews. She has dry skin because of her accutane treatments for her acne. She is great and gives a total different perspective since she isn’t a makeup artist.

I have been WAITING for this review. I didn’t really want to take that money leap until I saw you and Soph review it. You guys are my FAVES, and I definitely trust your opinions ❤
As someone with dehydrated skin that loves a glowy base, I was really interested in this foundation since its marketed as a glowy, second-skin type of product. However upon launch, I've seen so many mixed reviews and inconsistencies in formula. Some shades apply patchy and emphasize texture, others apply perfectly fine. I'm also a bit put off by the glitter.Because of all this, I think I'll pass on Makeup By Mario and try the Haus Labs instead
I got one from an urban decay palette and started using it as my brow brush, so like using the thin flat side to clean up my brow with concealer and using the bigger side to blend it out! So there is hope for some 🤣 Could keep one in the car for moments when you feel your eyeshadow wasn’t as blended as you thought after leaving the house
I found a long thin rectangular tray at Ikea, I think it was meant for cutlery, and I store my double ended brushes in it. It matches my other brush cups and it's easy to store in a cabinet or drawer if needed. Try it if you find one you like!
Double brush storage: Antique enamel dental instrument trays/boxes are cheap (there were so many made & they last forever) & pretty easy to find, they are nice & easy to keep clean + nice for bathroom storage. Also, I have a lot of little shallow wooden bowls, I store makeup + skincare "accessories " like qtips, long pokies (xl toothpicks), craft sticks, & teeny spatulas flat in them, and then lie (lay?) dbl brushes, longer tweezers, & eyelash curlers (futile, but I guess I will always keep trying) on top. It keeps things fairly handy & looks nice, but a lot of ppl would freak out seeing how full my counter is with little bowls lol. (Bowls, bowls, everywhere bowls!) I store my reg brushes in a wooden pen & pencil holder my dad also made, I have seen them commercially too - many have different sizes holes for pens/cils, reg sharpies, & highlighters - they are fantastic storage for brushes, and they don't touch each other much - no color transfer! Like a vase, but even easier to find - and you can pack a lot of brushes with stiletto ends into a marker hole lol!
Robert commenting on his lovely wake-up face like it wasn’t perfectly fine while I look like the possessed girl from The Exorcist in the morning. Robert, you look impeccable!
I don't know how big the glitter particles are in the Mario foundation, but I wanted to mention that the True Skin foundation by L'Oréal has glitter as well (the one in the square bottle). You only see it in direct lighting and when it not have been shaken beforehand. But I have to say it's one of my most favorite foundations and that's why I kind of have a positive connection with glitter in foundations. (Says the person who's disappointed by the glitteryness of highlighters...)
I realized I must love Robert's content...I absolutely loathe foundation & will never wear more than a tinted moisturizer again, but I clicked on this right away lol!
I appreciate this lighting setup. Very similar to Alex Anele’s setup I believe? It allows us to see the product. Like we know you’re gorgeous, we don’t need you to look flawless, we need to see the product!
I have super duper oily skin! I loved it! I use the new elf liquid poreless primer then mix the foundation with the L’Oréal lumi glotion and set with my abh setting powder and then spray with one size setting spray! Stays all day and doesn’t get oily
You! 😍 I just found you through a Jen Luv video and OMG I'm obsessed with your honesty and attention to detail. I am about to watch your other videos on this rainy Sunday and have no regrets about it 😌
As someone who bought this foundation and has worn it a few times - I have thoughts. Every time I’ve worn it, I’ve enjoyed it more each time. I do prefer it applied with a beauty blender, instead of a brush. I also prefer it over the Laura Mercier blurring primer, as opposed to the Danessa Myricks blur balm. Setting it with loose powder with my damp sponge is the best so far. Laura mercier ultra blur looks better than my huda powder, also. That’s my thoughts. I’m 39. Normal leaning dry skin. I have pores, texture and I get breakouts. Coverage is enough for me. Not full by any means, but definitely medium buildable. Blurring primer and powder keep it from being too luminous. A little mac MSF also helps. Really enjoy this foundation. As good as my synchro skin, but takes more prep. Synchro skin is easier to use and always flawless - for me. ❤❤❤
So thorough, much appreciated! Aww the dog school run 💜 Have you seen the videos on YT where the dogs all go to dog day care on a school bus and are so excited they wait by the window each morning for the bus to collect them, then run out when it arrives? So cute
I absolutely LOVE this foundation on me! Honestly my skin has never looked better when I wear it! I'm usually a neutral olive but I ended up going with 9W which matched surprisingly well but I ended up picking up 12O and I mix the two together and it's literally the perfect shade (the 12O is a bit too dark so the 9W lightens it up a bit) I also got the brush which I absolutely love and think I gives me the best finish with using the small side to apply it then stipple it with the bigger side to finish it. It wears beautifully which is always something I look for too! I have dry skin for reference! 😊
I usually have oily skin but not this winter. I’m in my mid 40s and struggling with finding that one foundation that doesn’t make me look older or like a greaseball. I’ll continue looking. Thank you for your time and review.
shining, shimmering, splended, Tell me princess, now when did you let your heart decide? You should have stood and sang it really loud !!!!!!! LOVE from MIAMI FL.......
I’ve been LOVING this foundation - I truly feel like I GLOW ✨ without also looking dewy/wet (my skin’s deffo on the drier side tho). And it looks that way all day?!? Which blows my mind.
okay i love that you only primed ONE side with the oil controlling things! bc i always love to see how it works both ways but so many people only show it when prepped that way, so you never get how it truly would act
I love how so many ppl on YT say they're oily but they've not met me or a friend of mine. We can fry eggs on our faces. I live in Australia too, so with the weather, the oils come out even more and you always sweat. Hence finding foundations are hard. And yes, I do use good skin care - mainly recommended by James - and I have my daily routine and before makeup routine. The ONLY thing I do differently is pop moisturiser or moisturising spf on before makeup. As we have to wear spf over here almost all year round. Which of course doesn't help makeup wear time. However the La Roche Posay spf shine free one is the best for oily skin as it's matte - has a minor white cast that sinks into the skin - and doesn't fook up ya makeup
Love this video! The casual style application and check ins really work for you! I’m not at all interested in this product but this video style, out of your studio being real was soooo good! Love all your videos but this one hit different.
I love this foundation! I have balanced/normal skin and I apply 1/4-1/2 pump with a damp flat brush. I don’t powder or use setting spray. I wear it over my mineral sunscreen to cover the white cast and it works great. I have noticed it does pill when I try to use it over some water based moisturizers.
Oh I’m so early! Really appreciate the 2 wear test & you giving it a thorough review! Can you maybe do this with the Hauslabs one too? Just wanna know if it’s really worth the hype …Much love to ya eitherway!✨
I love the new lighting setup, the only thing missing for me is that purple light reflecting on you that disturbs the true color of the makeup, the undertones, etc. I love the zoomed frame also
Thank you for reviewing this foundation. I don’t have plans to buy it but I was definitely interested in a review. I’m oily too so I’ll be sticking to Fenty for now.
I think with some UD setting spray before I powder I could see myself enjoying this foundation. I have to do that with any foundation that isn’t silicone-based “24 hr wear”. That way it doesn’t break up after 2/3 hours. Really liked the lighting and angle at the 6:00 min mark and onwards btw. Foundation looked like a perfect match, yet way too light in the beginning (even the shade you said was too dark in person). Good wear test overall, I think if you could get better focus on the closeups too, since it got a bit blurry when you closed in, that’d be perfection. This reminded me of @MagdalineJanet ’s reviews here on YT - super thorough and dynamic. Keep experimenting, I’m liking it!
Oooo you're so CLOSE to hitting 1mil! I can't believe I've been following since before you hit 100k!? Incredible & well deserved! Btw totally random but I got the single shadow "Robert" from odens eye & it's the most beautiful & dimensional silvery purple with tiny green pinpoints! Breathtaking!
I have more mature skin and a couple of influencers (my age) said it didn’t work for older skin, it settles into lines and creases and accentuates texture. I figured rave reviews are by younger users with really good skin, and your video started out that way. I thought “aha, I was right, only looks good in younger skin.” Now, not so much. I’m really surprised at how little testing is done. It’s seeming like it’s not working for several different skin types and age demographics. Thank you for your honest review. If one has to work so hard to try to get the product to work, why bother?
Hi Robert! I have dry skin and I thought I was going to LOVE this foundation. I hated it 😩 I just sent it back. It looked greasy and cakey with 1.5 pumps the first day I wore it, I used a brush on prepped skin and wanted to keep it at one pump but I wasn’t able to fully spread it with that alone, I so went in for a touch more. I lightly powdered in my t zone areas and got cakey and creasey. It didn’t diffuse the texture, it literally looked like powder sitting on grease. The second day I primed with the caliray so blown primer (I’d compare it to benefit porefessional- I’d love to see you try this foundation on top of that to compare what I experienced,) but then it balled up in certain areas and got grainy and even more textured. It was horrendous. Overall I think this one takes far too much work and thought to “make it work.” There are just better foundations options, by far. I appreciate everything you did to get this to work, but I want to speak on behalf of the dry skin girlies and say- it’s not necessarily working for all of us either! I think it was a bust. My haus labs is still my favorite, there’s really no comparison- it blows this out of the water.
Thanks for this review- I have seen a few but no long wear test like this. And as an older person, I think this might work for me- just unsure how to actually choose a shade, as I would have to buy online :) Appreciate all your videos!
I really appreciate this. I have dry skin and I am a performer who gets sweaty on stage and I’ve been thinking about getting this one since the ingredients in this brand are generally pretty safe for my contact dermatitis. I don’t love that there’s mica in it.
Combo skin here. I found the second brush you used much better fpr application (in my case I used the flat kabuki from Sigma and it looked great). I was applying it with a Beauty Blender and it looked horrendous.
Hi Rob, absolutely love your videos , hoping you can do my make up for me one day 😅! Can you do another full face of a brand make up I really enjoy those!
Such a great Indept review very helpful. I would really like to get this foundation as I have dry skin but I am broke 🤣 at the moment. But it did look lovely on your skin
I have oily skin with prominent pores. I have worn this foundation a few times. I agree it’s not long wearing. It needs a smoothing primer underneath. I think it’s very pretty, but not my favorite. It doesn’t need any glowy products whatsoever with it, either. It’s glowy enough on it’s own.
I just love you lol ❤ This product broke my acne prone skin out sooooo badly 🥲 I have combo skin, so I found that it clung to my dry patches & then accentuated my oily areas. 🥺 It was a no from me lol
Thank you for your honest review. As beautiful as the foundation may look, it's not worth it if I sweat it off or it breaks down in 2 or 3 hours because of my natural oils
This is how all foundation looks on me after about 4 hours, no matter what I do. 🤷🏼♀️ I never used to have super oily skin but for the last 10ish years I have. It seemed to be triggered by a bb cream from lacura. 🤦🏼♀️ I've never recovered from it.

It’s seems like we had the same experience with this one! I loved your video ❤
Thank you!! 🖤🖤🖤
You put in the work 👏 I appreciate how thorough this was.
This foundation is amazing! I absolutely love it!
Love this video! The casual style application and check ins really work for you! I’m not at all interested in this product but this video style, out of your studio being real was soooo good! Love all your videos but this one hit different.
Looking amazing as always Robert 🖤
Thank you for your 'super' dedicated testing. Extremely honest review. Think I'll be picking up Haus Labs
I absolutely love your channel! It’s just so real. The natural lighting is amazing!
7:23 thanks for sharing your tips for longevity - really handy to know ❤
You never disappoint! THANK YOU for your honesty!!!!
You look fabulous! Such a nice soft light with colourful contour light. Two tone background is my absolute favourite 💗
Oh I’m so early! Really appreciate the 2 wear test & you giving it a thorough review!
Can you maybe do this with the Hauslabs one too? Just wanna know if it’s really worth the hype …Much love to ya eitherway!✨
You are always so informative! Love that you gave it another chance with a different prep. I might give this a try since I have dry skin! 💖
Loved your Aladdin pun! 😆
I love the new lighting setup, the only thing missing for me is that purple light reflecting on you that disturbs the true color of the makeup, the undertones, etc. I love the zoomed frame also
Happy Wednesday, Robert!!! 💖🖤💖🖤💖🖤
Stacey!!! Happy Wednesday!
Thank you for reviewing this foundation. I don’t have plans to buy it but I was definitely interested in a review. I’m oily too so I’ll be sticking to Fenty for now.
Love it when your dogs make an appearance 😁💚
"Shining, shimmering... splendid" *looks coy*
Yeah Robert, we see you quoting Aladdin. 🤣
Shinning shimmering splendiiiiid
Hi Robert! Would you consider doing a video on your top foundations? I enjoy your reviews and how you review a foundation. 😊
Love this! And the sound is much better! 🎙️
This picked up EVERY bit of texture on my face!
I loved your old setup the best that was with some purple lighting in the background and some furniture
If you're dehydrated you should try a Waterdrop with the Sky! It tastes WONDERFUL!!!! 😋
“Everything about me is puffy” - Robert
Me - same. same.
“Oh subscribe” lol love you Robert ❤️❤️
Never realized how pretty and brown your eyes were!! 🥰👁️👁️
Combo skin here. I found the second brush you used much better fpr application (in my case I used the flat kabuki from Sigma and it looked great). I was applying it with a Beauty Blender and it looked horrendous.
Your skin is looking very good!
I bought the haus and Mario at the same time. I like the haus way more. It looks a little dry on my skin too but not as bad.
I appreciate the wear test, thank you for being always honest ❤
Hi Rob, absolutely love your videos , hoping you can do my make up for me one day 😅! Can you do another full face of a brand make up I really enjoy those!
Such a great Indept review very helpful. I would really like to get this foundation as I have dry skin but I am broke 🤣 at the moment. But it did look lovely on your skin
15:06 James would *absolutely CROAK* hearing you say that any spray tightens the pores! 😭😂😂
Been waiting for your review, thanks for saving me money and disappointment. Also you look gorgeous in every light! 🥰✨. Xx
This felt a lot like a vlog I enjoyed this
My oily skinned self will be skipping this one, thanks Robert!
Omg I think this would be perfect for me. I have the driest skin and need a really dewy foundation or I will have dry patches.
I just love you lol ❤
This product broke my acne prone skin out sooooo badly 🥲 I have combo skin, so I found that it clung to my dry patches & then accentuated my oily areas. 🥺 It was a no from me lol
Definitely interested in trying it but the Haus Labs and Hourglass foundations are both next on my list to try first
“Shining shimmering splendid” killed me🤣🤣
Thank you for your honest review. As beautiful as the foundation may look, it's not worth it if I sweat it off or it breaks down in 2 or 3 hours because of my natural oils
This is how all foundation looks on me after about 4 hours, no matter what I do. 🤷🏼♀️
I never used to have super oily skin but for the last 10ish years I have. It seemed to be triggered by a bb cream from lacura. 🤦🏼♀️
I've never recovered from it.
Hmm, maybe I should try this (I have really dry skin)… I have to check the colour range though since I’m fair and most foundations look yellow on me.
A lot of people are saying the shade matches aren’t great for fair skin 😩
It was so yellow on me! I wouldn’t recommend.
@@RobertWelsh Oh no! Well, the quest for the perfect foundation continues…
@@thesavvyhawk thank you for letting me know!
@@horrorveronica724 check out the Fenty hydrating foundation! I love it.
combo oily skin here. I have this foundation and it slaps. it looks like second skin on me and still looked pretty good after several hours.
I wish I would’ve waited for your review before I bought this. A lot of the reviews were like oily combo and loved it. Not me I went outside and in the Texas sun I looked a hot glittery mess. Lol
Thank you for that Aladdin refernce!!!
Great review, thanks! I DESPISE dual-ended brushes: how are you meant to store them???!! 🤯
