unpopular opinion: brow trends need to die. Not everyone has the same face structure or shape, so not everyone will looks good, do your brows according to the face you have and they will always be on point.
Needs to be a popular opinion
Yesss 💜
👏👏👏
I agree. I never liked the overly thin brows of the 70s, 90s, or the HD overly thick brows of today. You're right, if you enhance what you have naturally, you'll always look sharp.
Exactly, I’m constantly confused as to whether my eyebrows need to be thick or thin and so many eyebrows cannot be the other one, it’s super hard.
The wisdom we all needed. Don’t overpluck your brows, don’t tattoo your brows, and don’t get a credit card at 18. 💕
LMAO TRUTH!!!!
Yes 👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾👐🏾
Am 30 and I can't get a credit card, can't trust myself 😂
Stg 😭
Wear sunscreen
I gotta say, as a 30 year old who never STOPPED wearing glitter, I am psyched! Let's please all be frosted and sparkly again!
I'm loving the sudden influx of PSAs created by Millenial influencers warning GenZ against the thin brow trend lmao!!!!
eh, let em learn
I'm a GenX-er and I don't recommend them either... 😎✌🏼
Right?! I mean, there are older Millennials who legit have had hair transplants for their eyebrows after plucking them into nonexistence in the 90's/early 2000's!
Gen Z here. I do micro brows but I Shave them never pluck
Seriously! It took me forever to grow out my eyebrows after plucking them into oblivion cuz I wanted to look like Gwen Stefani. They came back, thankfully, but not everyone is so lucky......
Skinny brows made us all look like a perpetually surprised Mickey Mouse.
😂😂😂🖤
yup i don’t care how trendy this becomes again. the bushier the better :)
Glad they’re coming back bc mine never grew back 🤪
@@SimplyCheryl little secret darling. The liquid rogaine. You can use that on your eyebrows. It works really good. My mom taught me that. Years ago. My step dad was using it for his hair. And my mom would take a little spooly and just brush it all over her eyebrows. And if she lost her little spoolie she would use a little baby toothbrush. She just apply it on and leave it. She would use a Chapstick, or a little bit of CarMax or a little bit of Vaseline and just go around her eyebrow in the bottom part. Just so it's not running down. But then again you're using so little it's not really going to run but just in case. She would just swipe it right over the top of her eye brow bone underneath the brow. Worked like a charm. I never really got into those thin brows. Although I have completely lost my unibrow. I'm okay I don't want to grow that back. I'm good. But truly it worked really well. My mom has blonde fine hair. And God bless her she always had troubles with her eyebrows. I'll also say this stress also made her lose her hair. Omega fatty acids. And cholesterol. I would start making her eggs with salmon. She laughed at me. It was the bushiest eyebrows and most beautiful hair she ever had. No laughing matter it really works. Fish eggs are awesome. If you can eat them. Please find wild caught fish eggs. Ancestral supplements has them. Costco is the only place that I know of that sells a wild-caught fish oil. Absolutely awesome. I use them I use them on my dogs.
But seriously try it out. It works really good. My mom even made jokes like hey we can grow your unibrow back. I was like get out of here. 😓😬🙊🙉🙈
@@MzClementine ooh thank you for sharing!!! I'm a 90s gal so my brows are almost non existant from all the plucking, not to mention their blonde. Definitely gonna try this!!!😁
I have stopped messing with brow trends, I went to a professional and she did the proper brows for my face shape and I am sticking with them. Trends are cool but not everyone can pull them off.
Exactly. Some people go way too thick sometimes. And thick brows also don't suit everyone. Just do whatever suits your face, like you're doing rn.
Same. I have naturally thinner brows and the thick brows look bad on me.
Wise. My face came with Brooke Shields eyebrows and luckily my mom complimented me regularly and told me to embrace them. I generally rock a full, shaped brow. Stick with what works (easy for me to say, I have good brows). Also all my 90s girls are SUPER SAD they plucked out their brows.
I got microblading last year after a lack of makeup during the height of ye olde plague was a nonstop reminder of how much I hated having no arch naturally. I'm so happy with my naturally full looking softly arched brows now since what I naturally had and would fill in myself with makeup seemed to be my perfect setup. A really nice brow shape does so much for your confidence honestly.
I went down the over plucked road but mine grew back fine. I never had thick eye brows to start out with. Some girls today have gone overboard with the thick fluffy look. All you see when you look at them are two hairy caterpillars.
As a 34 year old victim of the early 2000’s skinny brow I can confirm Robert is very much correct - they never come back!!! Save yourselves kids 😂
omg right? I had beautiful thick brows as a kid and now my brows scream for help cause they will not get thicker again
I started using the ordinary hair density serum on my brows a few months ago. They're back.
I have a coworker who is in her late 40s. She did the skinny brow thing from the mid 90s through the early to mid 00s. Now she has pretty much no eyebrows. She's tried different brow products to enhance what she has, but now she's going through menopause and she just sweats any brow products right off. She's looking into getting brow tattoos now.
I have very thick brows (like Roberts). After being ridiculed for them in the 90s, I decided to carve them out by carefully shaving the edges instead of waxing/plucking and then using concealer to cover the bluish tint. I also used heavy gel to pinch them together into a thin shape.
Guess what? I still have my full, bushy brows.
That's not the case for everyone. I plucked mine thin in the early 80's. Kept them like that for almost 20 years. When I decided to let them grow back they did. Right back to what they looked like before my 1st pluck. I tried threading once. Didn't like how they looked. I let them grow back again which they did. 15 yrs later/older and I now have 2 sparse areas but they're not that noticeable to where I have to use anything to fill them in if I don't want to... 🤷♀️
My grandmother who was born in 1918 warned me like crazy about plucking my eye brows when this was a thing in the 90s. She had virtually no brows from going through a plucking trend when she was young. I listened to her thankfully and never did more than a small amount of plucking. She's been gone for 20 years now and would be warning my daughter about plucking her brows if she was still with us. So listen to your moms and aunties and your future brows will thank you! And I'll be the warning auntie on behalf of my grandmother, DON'T OVER PLUCK!
so sweet.
Oh gosh that’s right! There was a huge trend in the 40’s? I believe that she would have lived through! Wow that’s so cool! May she Rest In Peace for saving the rest of us from the No brow mistake ❤️😂
I’m a young millenial who was too young to make it to the first trend and old enough to know better this time around 😮💨 I tell ppl to just shave instead of pluck, at least it grows back then
My mum was born in the 40s so she lived through a lot of wild trends.
One of the things she told me was to never overpluck my eyebrows, and considering she was a natural blonde with no eyebrow hairs left to speak of after a lifetime of plucking, I obey.
Though that woman could draw on a beautiful set of identical eyebrows like no other in no time whatsoever. Damn I miss her.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. 💖
your mother was clearly a unicorn. to have identical brows? major impressed
Yep, my mum plucked hers in the 90s and they're still the same skinny, hair-scarce shape they were then. She felt very comforted when I pointed out how many other women had the same type of brows from doing the same.
Identical brows is no small feat. Thank you for sharing this story here.
Aww❤️
As someone with naturally thin brows I'm happy too see this trend back however if someone has to ruin their lovely thick brows for this this then please don't do it.
Total agreement! Never as happy for a trend to end (the thick Instagram type that I can never do correctly, but amazing if you can!) as I was for the oversprayed hair of the 80s! But, as you said, if you have them, go with it! I'm just slightly jealous I don't 🥲
The thin brow trend sums up the entirety of my adolescents and the thick brows adulthood. So, this could go either lol.
@@nicoladawson2861 thin brows are very elegant and feminine, don’t be jealous :)
Same! Growing up I thought I had great brows cuz that was in style. Then I realized it was just a trend. Personally I love thick brows. But I’m cool if the thin comes back for selfish reasons haha
This! I agree!!
Don’t do the skinny brow trend! They never grow back the same! Robert is 100% correct. Every single one of my friends that did the skinny brows in the early 2000’s now have to draw them on everyday because they never came back.
Mine did
Mine left in 1998 and never returned again. I now have skeleton eyes.
@@deniseschnurr1765I wish I would have started with brow serum sooner. My brows have grown more in a month than the previous 5 years or so. The new hairs are more sparse, but salvageable with brow powder and a nice brow gel. I thought they would never come back
Killed my brows in the early 2000s and I’ve never forgiven myself 😭😭😭 Got microblading eight years ago and it’s been a lifesaver (I also have quite oily skin and brow products always melted off).
Now I am grateful for the thick Italian eyebrows I hated for so many years. It was just way too much work to make them really thin or I would be among the millennials grieving their dearly departed eyebrows 😂 I am happy with the amount of brow I was spared by laziness. Got rid of the unibrow and it won't ever be missed. (Sorry Frida)
Omg Robert when u were describing the mousse foundation, I can picture my friends at high school applying it with a manky smelly old flat sponge, caking it up around their nose, spot scabs, skinny brow stubble and even over their lips!! You'd be able to see it on their baby hairs/side burns and have an orange tide mark around their chin 🤣
Some friend you are to describe your pals in the most heinous way. Wonder that the secretly thought of YOU?
damn lisa, just @ me next time! 😂
@@BlowinFree damn, you really are on the edge aren't you? It's not even describing her friends.... And plus it was back in HIGH SCHOOL. If you're going to get upset about a joke maybe the internet isn't for you
@@meghanhixon3241 I’ll decide what’s for me and what isnt. Ok.
@@HadenBlake spot scabs and brow stubble isn’t referring to make up application. As for the remainder of your comment, it’s not worth giving oxygen to.
i love how he said "also don't get a credit card when you're 18" under his breath. i felt the guilt in my heart!!!!!
Same. Guilty
I didn’t do the brows but I definitely got the credit card at 18.
Ahhhh same
This should have come with a trigger warning for us 90s babies 😂 so many suppressed memories resurfacing!
I physically *shuddered* at the mention of roll-on glitter. 😬😰😱😖😣
Imagine how us older folks felt when highlighting everything came back, theatrical contour was being used in everyday makeup, and giant brows and thin brows, so some of these is 3 times for us
Omg!! Yes! When I realized that “influencers” were literally putting on drag queen makeup to go to the mailbox. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
@@ladyp3531 Saaame! Not only do they use the techniques, they also use extra amounts of product for intense coverage.
@@ladyp3531 LMAO!!
Haha. My mom said that. I'm 34 and she's 60. Cracks me up. Wish I'd never had plucked my eyebrows in the early 2000s into skinny brows. My mom did and it was the trend at the time. Ugh.
I had skinny brows in the 2000s. Thankfully I never was into plucking, so I used a eyebrow razor and my natural brows all grew back. So if you really want to try it, don't pluck - use a razor.
I was gonna come here to say this! I use a brow razor for my skinny brows (I’m 33, and grew up thinking skinny brows were glamorous, so I just never gave em up), and my brows grow in like they always did.
“Glitter doesn’t add to… anything” */gasp!!* 😱
How. Dare. You. I’m ready to paste that crap on to every wrinkle and order a glitter bomb on my house! Y’all can pry my ‘94 Wet’N’Wild glitter gel out of my cold, dead, hella fabulous hands!
Viva La Sparkle!!✨🥳✨
Lol!
hahaha 🤣
Viva la Sparkle! - I'm making that my new motto 😂 thanks
@@taravolna6192 hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 Love that!
Omfg I had the pink glitter gel from nyc cosmetics it was my favourite go to product when I was like 10!
I always thought of glitter as a trend for kids or maybe cheap Hookers!!! 😂😂😂
I was heavily bullied for have “bushy” brows and I refuse to go back to being insecure and doing everything to thin them out!
Grow the hell up
As someone who got their brows done every two weeks in the 90s I support this message.
I did, too. I must be in the minority because mine haven't stopped growing, just slowed down a bit I do monthly appointments now instead of every week or two. Definitely don't go as skinny as we did in the 90's though! :)
My hairdresser for my wedding finished my hair with that glitter spray I was mortified! But too late there was nothing I could do to get rid of it. 😫 I was too polite and nervous to say anything. Luckily it didn’t seem to show in our photos.
I’m so sorry! I would NEVER do that to a bride, communication and consent is everything. That’s one reason trials aren’t so important, if they want glitter I will only do it in stages. I complete the look without sparkle and take pictures, then add shimmer or sparkle and do photos again. It’s great to see how it will look on the day, they often decline even when they came in asking for it. I have a super fine shimmer powder I use on flower girls shoulders, they love it! Moms and girls often argue about makeup at young ages, but allowing them a few subtle products keeps mom and young lady both happy.😊
As a doctor, hearing you call your brow bone/eye socket an eye hole has me in stitches! Love your videos and the help with finding a creative outlet through make-up
It is incredible...
This is why we love Robert, he always uses such scientific and technical terms!😂😂😂
@Laura Brummer An eye hole, I know! I laughed out loud so hard at this!!! 😆😆
It’s called an orbital ridge, right? Or am I remembering my anatomy wrong?
As a non-doctor, its also funny to me :)
Glitter is the herpes of the makeup world. Once you put it on you find it everywhere! It never goes away! 🤣🤣🤣
Noooooo. Glitter is magical! Just ask an 6th grade girl.
It’s also the herpes of Christmas 😂😂😂 You put the decorations in November and you’ll find glitter randomly around the house until July 😂
I always wear powder foundation, never stopped. Having oily/combo skin, creams, liquids usually turned into a complete oil slick on me. Powders have always worked for me.
I have normal skin in my 50’s and still wear powder foundation, blush, bronzer, etc, works great for me. Powder lasts longer than creams.
Same! Plus powder foundation doesn’t sit as heavily on oily skin as liquid foundation.
Had a "friend" attack my eyebrows when I was a teen. The tail ends never grew back 🥲 Please please, don't overpluck your brows! They frame your face. A well maintained set of brows will never be out of fashion, as they are classic and timeless 🙏🏻
As someone with sensitive, acne prone skin, I LOVE powder foundation. But back in the day they made you look so dry and flat. I'm so glad companies are making powder foundations that also have some hydrating ingredients so your skin doesn't look dry. I hope that companies keep trying to improve the formulas instead of going along with the trends for a quick buck
Any brand/ product recommendations? I have acne prone skin that sometimes has dry parts but is also oily so basically no foundation (even with primer) works :/
@@VS-bm3ep I like pur 4-1 pressed powder. You need to prep your skin well, though. It will stick to your dry spots if you don't moisturize ahead of time and use a primer suited for your skin time
I love the FiteMe matte+poreless powder foundation. With the right skin prep it looks wonderful, it looks good when oils come through and it doesn't break me out.
Don't know if you are old enough to remember Max factor.
Oh my gosh, in the 90’s we lived for Lamcomê Dual Finish makeup!!! So so so so matte!!🤣 And of course we had a bright red lip. Oh, the old days!
My mom wouldn’t let me over-pluck in the 90’s, when I was a teen. She was like “please don’t do that. You will regret it later.” I didn’t and I am forever grateful.
Omg absolutely forever greatful! 🖤🖤
I wish I had listened to mine. She knew it from experience 😢
I definitely over plucked mine 😩 I’m 32 now and have a almost 13 year old daughter. I tell her ALL the time to leave her beautiful thick brows alone. So we just get rid of her unibrow lol
Me to, I never did it and am so glad
My mum was the same! Everyone learned a valuable lesson!
I am so happy you said Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse wasn't that bad, I've worn this forever and I think it works well for me. It needs a better shade range but this foundation gets a lot of negativity it doesn't deserve.
Totally agree! for my oily (now mixed) skin it was the best foundation at that time. I usually bought 2 shades and mixed them to get a perfect tone.
I’m feel like so many trends of the 90s and early 2000s because it was a time where we remember being happier and goofier - glitter, butterfly clips, and the like. And I honestly love so much of it!
The funny thing is, I was in college in the 90s and getting married and having babies in the 2000s - and I was so clueless about makeup and trends. I was a total nerd blasting through college and career and whatever - if you asked me what trends were popular in the 90s I’d say grunge (not that I wore grunge 😂). I was mainline preppy nerd allllll the way. But show me a photo if early Avril or Britney and it all comes back. I looked awkward enough in my flannel shirt over a turtleneck all tucked into jeans with a belt. I didn’t even need wacky, whimsical glittery white eye shadow to look goofy 😂
THE ROLLERBALL GLITTER came with me to the community centre dances. Reapplication was mandatory at least 3x before end of night. Also, trying to convince ourselves those glitter gels didn’t smell bloody awful.
😂😂
Ik!! As soon as he mentioned them my whole childhood came flooding back. I used to use them all the time and I completely forgot they existed
remember the staying at least 18 inches apart while slow dancing to S Club 7's "Never Had a Dream Come True" or Selena's "Dreaming of You", such good times LOLLL
Ahaha
Oh my god the rollerball glitter 😂 I used that as everything! Eyeshadow, highlighter, lips
I remember my auntie shaving her brows completely off and drawing them on. As a kid I thought that was so f'n glamorous 😂
At least with shaving it will grow back... 😆 but yeah the whole getting rid of eyebrows to then draw them on is really weird
@@anjad.3656 seriously weird. What the heck is the point of that? Shave them off to just draw them back on and most of the time they looked horrid
I had a bad brow waxing experience in the early 2000's and lost the outer ½ of one of my already thin brows. I tweezed out the other side to "make them even" and drew in full on Cruella DeVille brows for ages while they grew back in. I swore i was the absolute coolest thing walking at the time!
@@beckyward89 I guess it makes sense if your brows grow super low down, shaving and drawing them higher can be more flattering to your face
I knew a girl who did this in the 90s and she always wore black lip liner and gold lipstick and I used to think it was the classiest thing I’ve ever seen !
Unpopular opinion: Powder foundation looks gorgeus on super oily people if the skin is well prepped, the powder is not thick and the amount + application technique/tool are the right ones. When it settles, it blends with the natural oil and doesn' t look Marie Antoinette at all. Also, touching up is easier than a matte fluid foundation. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
From a girl who did the skinny brow trend. BE CAREFUL! Do not over pluck! I had beautiful full brows my whole life. I over plucked them in the early 2000’s and now I’m stuck with them: as you age, they stop growing back. I’m stuck with them now.
It’s an eye socket! Lol
In middle school I was BULLIED and picked on for having naturally thick brows, and I am GLAD that I never let anybody talk me into over plucking, because now fast ward into adulthood I'm hearing so many people regret what they did to their brows back then, some people won't have eyebrows unless they draw them on, and some cry about how their brows can't grow at all.
Lmao yes I definitely relate to that. My brow hairs are like steel wool on my face. If I tried to tame them I think they would bite back
I was bullied for NOT shaving off my eyebrows and drawing them in...lol I told them I'm good on looking like a surprised clown lol they got offended 😂
Ikr?? I got told I looked like I had ugly caterpillars on my face, but I still never plucked them... fast forward, and in the past 5 years I've gotten so many compliments about my natural brows as well as hearing regret from people who felt pressured to overpluck when they were younger.
@@shiloha5646 pity you had to wait 20 years to get a complement
Same haha! We got the last laugh 😂
"...also don't get a credit card when you're 18..." I adore you Robert 😂
So glad for the skinnier brows trend. I'm a woman with naturally heavy eyelids and a thick brow makes me look miserable and kind of like The Grinch or Angry Birds. I don't make them super skinny but a cleaned up arch and tails instantly make me look younger and more feminine, which is what I like.
Who cares if they are trendy? If skinny brows suit you and make you look and feel better, just do it! Why are people such slaves to trends? Just because some Kardashian does something doesn't make a thing good, it's insanity to me.
Yeah that's the thing about "trends" for features that are actually structural. Brows should be whatever makes you feel the best about your face, same goes for idiotic trends like "big butts vs small butts", the very idea of a trend doesn't make sense for these features
Me too! I decided to try them out for a 90s look that I did once and was shocked by how much more space I had on my eyes for makeup and how lifted my face looked.
I love the simple addition of “also don’t get a credit card when you’re only 18” woof that one hits hard 😆
Unpopular opinion on brows: Thick, fluffy brows are not universally flattering. I think brows should be made to compliment a person's bone structure instead of trying to follow a trend. I have thin brows because I would look too masculine with thicker brows. On some people, thicker brows look amazing. I am not one of those people.
Yes!! Thank you!! I went through my preteen and teen years with thick dark eyebrows on a pale face. Oh and they grew in the middle quite a bit. I always hated them and got made fun of because of them. People always said I needed to thin them but I saw girls in my grade who plucked the shit out of theirs and it just didn't fit and plucking looked so painful. So I've never done anything with them except for plucking between my brow. Now everyone has the exact same thick, super dark brows Groucho Marx would be envious of. I think you can thicken/fill in your brows a bit but it should be in a way that fits your face. If you have naturally thin eyebrows, rock them!!
@@rogue_darkholme Beauty is one thing that I feel should be a personal choice and not based on trends. What looks good on one person will not look good on another. Also, how many cookie cutter faces are out there anyway? I have seen so many women on UA-cam doing their makeup and they all look identical. Same brows, same skin tone, same hair, same everything. It's mind boggling.
It's like people forgot how to embrace themselves and instead started embracing what's popular at any given moment.
This!!! I love this
@@LadyJessicaWilliams You are 2/2 today! I couldn't agree more. I have another personal example. I have a short, round, wide-ish nose. A true button that I love now but growing up I hated. I got told I looked like I had a pig snout and I felt like I looked like Christina Ricci in Penelope. It took me a VERY VERY long time to like my nose but I love it now which is why I refuse to contour it. I don't have a skinny nose and it wouldn't fit my face to try to turn my nose into something it isn't. There is nothing wrong with contouring because when I have a double chin, contour is my BFF. I just think we should try to embrace our own nose and eyebrow shapes, whether they're thin or wide, on trend or not.
Trends come and go but the face that you look at in the mirror should be one you love every day, no matter what year or season 💜
Yes!!!! It looks so…not so great on everyone. Especially that combed up “fluffy” brow trend
I’m ready for the lipstickless unblended lipliner with a “smoky” raccoon clumpy mascara eye trend to make a full comeback.
We used to use brown eyeliner to line our lips!
And trash pink frost lips
😆 how dare you…
@@sarabear888 I was literally going to say that 😆
😆😆
The dream matte mouse foundation was my favorite when I was 17 and in high shcool (I'm talking over 10 years ago) it does bring back memories. I also really liked the Maybeline loose foundation powder which was a rip-off of bare minerals when that brand was very popular in the beginning. It's amazing how much your skin changes and what use to work perfectly for you no longer does. I tried wearing the Maybeline powder just before they discontinued it and it accentuated every line and dry spot on my face. The way that foundation looked on me in high school was nothing like how it looked on me several years later.
I naturally have extremely fine, fair brows. I’ve been praying for YEARS for thin brows to come back into fashion, it’s so much more attainable for me 😅
Butterfly hair clips (now being sold on Etsy as vintage hair accessory ), feel like I've seen a bit of resurgence of frosted eyeshadow, definitely squeezy tube lip gloss especially fruit scented one and the biggest sin of all times, low rise jeans
So true. You’ll pry my high rise jeans from my cold dead old lady hands lol. I lived through low rise and am traumatized still
@@andreaarndt7744 so relatable 😂 honestly I'll give up high rise anything on 31st February half past NEVER
since when are butterfly clips vintage?? I had them as a child and I’m only a teenager.
I look terrible in high rise jeans, so I am very excited for low rise to make a comeback.
I will never give up on mid rise and high waisted jeans
I just keep my eyebrows how they are, and automatically become trendy every few years🤣 really wish someone would start a short-eyelashes trend too
Short eyelashes that stick out straight.
Hold on, our day will come!
Ditto
My short lashes would love that.
lets do it you guys. lets start making influencer style videos advertising how short and cute our lashes look. if we word it right ppl might jump on the "trend" 🤔
I shaved the ends of my brows and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made - I use one of those small razors every couple/few days. Honestly, a trend or not, I love it.
I love those razors as well. But I was confused by what Robert meant by "shaving off the end of the brows"? I'm wondering if maybe I am familiar with this brow trend but I'm just not understanding it just because of the wording. Do you shave off the end of brow, meaning like, the brow hairs after the arch? And then you just pencil them in how you like? Or is this trend referring to people shaving the slits in their brows (that very Vanilla Ice type look that was popular)?
Also can we talk about how weird it is that glitter comes back as a trend, even tho so many brands now claim to be ecological, like glitter is just unecessery micro plastic and its literally in everything. In skincare, in face washes and now the sprays and creams, its honestly disappointing.
Hopefully they are using water soluble glitter.
I use bio-glitter! Made from plants!!!!
It not micro plastic in most thing is minerals like mica
I simply won't buy the stuff. Not only is it terrible for the environment but it is EXTREMELY difficult to clean if it gets on your floor, furniture, ect. Glitter sprays and body glitter is just super unnecessary especially when you get into your late 20s almost 30 just seems a bit juvenile.
@@hyperashitive3217 glitter is like the herpes of art. you can never clean it all up once you've been infected.
The darker lined lips is back too... my server had light brown lips with a darker brown lip liner, and she was only in her 20s. It looked really nice on her, what I have seen so far is a much more cleaned up version of what was popular in the 90s:
Here in NJ, this trend never died lol
Everyone is agreeing not to overpluck your eyebrows (I'm a victim of it so I agree too) but I have to absolutely comPLETEly 100% UTTERLY agree, don't get a credit card when your 18!!
I can vividly remember the texture of plunging my fingers into dream matte mouse. Pretty satisfying really… I wonder if that’s why they are coming back? They just feel fun!
5:23 The orbital socket or bone. There’s seven of them and the top one is called the frontal bone 💀
EDIT: I see the darker lip liner with light lipstick coming back with the addition of over lining the lips. In the early 2000s I went to the MAC counter and the lady did my lips with Mahagony and filling it in with a light neutral lipstick and my boyfriend at the time (we grew up in Los Angeles so it was the thing to do in some cultures so please keep that in mind) said “She looks like a Chola.” The MAC lady was visibly upset but that’s what we were used to seeing at that time.
I am absolutely LOVING this eye look.
Thank you! 🖤🖤
I’m mesmerised by how the lighting makes each eye look so different. Stunning!
@@gaylesmith7849 Yes! At 1:49 he puts both hands up to his temples and you briefly see the eyes without the side lighting. Looks amazing every way
Me too! The colour keeps changing subtley and beautifully
@@RobertWelsh saving screenshots for the next time someone says blue eyeshadow looks dated 😜
I love that the skinny brows are coming back, only because mine never grew back properly. BEWARE!!
I used to be so bummed out by my thick brows when I was a tween in the mid-2000s, and rolled my eyes at my mom not letting me wax them down to nothing, lol. So grateful for it now!!
Powder foundations have a time and a place. They're great for quick make up looks, and just like all textures the formula has to work for you. I'm hoping that the trend brings at least a couple of gems even if the majority are shit.
I was an emerging teen in the 70’s and the thin thin brows were the rage. I so regret the constant plucking I did! I have nice brows now but it’s a lot of years later! Love the blue Robert!
my grandma shaved her brows... she get them tattooed since this trend 😂
I was a teen in late 90s and early 2000s and mine still haven’t grown back. I dunno how to make them grow back
Same! I plucked mine really thin before knowing I could possibly lose my thick eyebrows, it took me about 12 years to grow them back. I simply stopped messing with them, brushed them often and did not pluck one eyebrow! Glad they grew back!
@@Mel_T.s same, mine are super light in color as well. I look blank. I haven’t tweezed or waxed in 2 years now with the exception of the wild straggler here and there. They are finally starting to fill in a little bit.
@@paresseuxdesneiges 😱🥲
I feel attacked….. skinny brows are coming back! Jesus take the wheel, mine haven’t recovered after 20 years.
Same here lol
Same!!!!
Neither have mine!
Same, I don't touch them since 10 years but still very, very skinny, so I am just in the trend, eh 😂
I’m 53 yrs old and have always had dark, full, thick brows think Brooke Shields .. I recently started thinning them out and I love them because they lift my eye and I look younger so in my case thinning out my brows have helped me look more youthful 😍
I'm fully convinced Euphoria brought glitter back! And I'm here for it
Fine under 25 not so fine after... Choose wisely like hair, a little of the eyes etc all good full whack ur in trouble
Robert I had my brows tattooed 4 years ago & I absolutely LOVE them. They're tattooed within my natural brow shape & thickness. Robert you naturally have dark, thick brows that don't need to be tattooed imo... I have sparse, matchy, dirty blonde brows that I have to tint constantly and draw in. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to wash my makeup off and have my brows still be there.
Ooh did you tattoo or microblade? I know the tattoo is supposed to last longer. I'm blonde with, like, 3 eyebrow hairs and I'm so interested in doing it.
I'm the same as Ash, I got my brows microbladed in 2018, and it was the best thing I ever did. Yeah they are lighter than they where back then, and I could POSSIBLY go get them redone and done a bit darker, but I'm not rushing out the door for it - It gives me a little more flexibility - use darker products to give a bit more texture and depth or just use a clear brow gel.. well worth it
Most men don't find the thick brow trend attractive it a biological predisposition bc facial hair growth including brows is influenced by testosterone levels, there are other genetic factors. Haven't u ever noticed how men almost never have thin brows
I don't mean then like shaped thin but hair density. If you seem not to be growing any eye brows u might want to get your thyroid checked
@@reneeburtness1526 Most women don't care what men think, it's a biological predisposition because women are not automatic baby-popping machines. Haven't you ever noticed that most women would rather live their own lives than live by the whims of random people?
I am in denial. I refuse to think that thin brows are making a comeback 💀
who cares what the eyebrows trend is? just wear what you like!
Well I will definitely not touch my own. But I will enjoy people spending the next decade looking weird after the mess they will create
Honestly, I'm convinced this is one of those situations where, like, three people have made the switch to thin brows and blasted "OMG SKINNY BROWS ARE BACK!???" all over the place, and media outlets and tiktok just ran with it. Maybe a small handful of people are ACTUALLY participating, while everyone else is on the sidelines like "yeah, no." and watching the chaos ensue. Lol I've never liked skinny brows, anyway. Trend or not, only certain people look good with them, imo (usually those with naturally thin brows or people with small faces who don't want to be overpowered by their brows, for instance).
Full brows especially straight shape make a face much more youthful and cute. Just look at Korean or Chinese actors. I am sticking to my full i want to look younger, thank you very much.
I was a teen in the late 90s and early 2000s and remember those ultra thin brows all too well. had a few friends who basically had plucked themselves beyond repair and they still have to draw on their brows. never properly grew back. I completely skipped that trend cause I just didn't like the idea of changing the look of my face by haphazardly plucking my brows at home (a salon i couldn't afford).
Then low and behold more than 5 years ago, Benefit came up with some brow pen product and the advertisement line "Pouff!! Brows suddenly appear!" and me, still primed by the thin brow trend, I was flabbergasted. Who wants that? In the beginning, though it was more about making brows appear more youthful and dense. That I kind of could wrap my head around. I also sometimes have little gaps in my brows. So to be able to draw them in and even the shape out a bit, cool, cool.
But over the last years thanks to the Kardashian clan it went a bit overboard for my taste, with brows looking so drawn and clear cut, that you may as well paste a brow sticker on top of your original brows. Or I guess I'm just getting too old and close-minded at this point. I don't know. But just like my generation tended to look like eternally surprised Mickey Mouses, the last block-eye-brow trend to me made everyone look a bit samey like fresh out of the muppet show.
Ah, well, it's all fine I guess. Every generation needs their trends to set themselves apart and have fun with their look. And what would any wedding, school reunion or family party be without being able to look back at our old styles in pics and laugh about ourselves?
I'm 34 and in 2015 when that trend came about I was in my mid 20s snd it want for me either. They were drawing their eyebrows in blocks ans outlining them with concealer, during the day, for school. Thay is drag style makeup and should be left to those professionals and lighting situations.
An old trend that I've been using over 10 years it's bleached brows ❤️ I love how it looks on me, makes my face "exotic" and fun, specially when I have small little bangs, I feel like a supermodel
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Robert’s eye makeup in this video? Absolutely stunning!
🤩🤩🤩
I’d love to see a tutorial on this look.
100%!
It is fantastic, the white "wing" is just plain genius.
“Eyeholes” only made my brain go to Rick and Morty. But also YES to warning the youngins about overplucking!
I actually love the mousse foundations lol. I am oily and never liked the glossy look on my skin, not even in the most recent years! It is true however that I use it only in some areas of my face (not full coverage) and it works perfectly for me like this ♡
Hey, Robert! I made the HORRIBLE mistake of plucking my eyebrows to death in the late 1960’s (I’m old!) & have fought with growing them out ever since. Y’all younger folks out there, DO NOT DO IT!!! 💜🦇❤️😎☀️🌈
Probably the best makeup advice I ever received was to find my style- what looks best for my face and to ignore the rest. It’s fine to experiment and play but don’t make potentially permanent changes based on fickle fashion. That fashion doesn’t have to live with those permanent changes you do.
For real! I have a face that is really poorly suited to the makeup trends of the past 6-8 years. The popular heavily contoured makeup and the bold drag inspired eye looks just don't look right on my face. It's only in the past year that I've started really looking at my face and doing my makeup to enhance what I have instead of copying what influencers and UA-camrs do. The difference is really stark and I feel a lot more myself. Trends tend to only look good on a particular face shape (often achieved thru surgery) and following them doesn't really teach you how to work on other faces. Plus the trendy face will change over the years.
I'm nearly 38, so please take my advice: *don't pluck your eyebrows*
Brows make the face... they give character because they are a big part in facial expressions, thicker brows make you look younger, and if they're thin your face looks bigger. Plus it's a pain to grow them back and whatever grows back will be acting weird xD
As my mum said to me as a teen in the 90s "brows are the frame of the face!"
Always kept them neat but the same size. So glad I did!
I loved the Maybelline mousse concealer, and I lost my shut when it was discontinued. you couldn’t use the foundation to double up as concealer. it was its own magical thing.
This resurgence of ‘90s, and now especially ’00s, is so crazy! Love hearing your take on it.
"Put you blush where you look jolly!" just about killed me. 😂
I have naturally thick, dark brows. I like that my natural brows are finally fashionable, and not having to do anything to my brows besides pomade and occasional stray hair plucking that I can do myself, for free, with tweezers. No thank you to skinny brows coming back!
Mine were naturally thick and dark, and I got bullied for them so badly that I waxed them into near non-existence in high school. I've managed to coax them into a sort-of recovery, but they'll never be what they once were.
The agressively specific way you were describing the eyehole skeletal eyebrow situation is something I've totally thought before!!! I didn't know other people thought about or noticed that 😅 also the "eyehole" is called the orbital bone lmao
The fenty powder foundation is my absolute holy grail, and I was so skeptical about using a powder! Very little kickback and it blurs skin so well, if anyone is looking for a good one!
Omg that’s my ride or die, holy grail foundation, I absolutely love it!
I'm normal to dry skinned, so I'm always nervous about powders. Any idea if it works for my skin type?
I've seen some people going back to the extreme drag-style contour, which always looks so harsh in person
I have noticed some old “Instagram makeup” things popping up!
Omg, saw this on a cashier at TJ Maxx the other day! So harsh especially under that awful fluorescent lighting 😬😬 poor girl probably looked amazing at home but rough at register 3.
So I have a confession. I’ve heard of you for the longest time but I thought to myself “he will be just another UA-camr that does makeup that won’t work for me, as always. BUT OMG 😱 Im in love with your videos now! I was binge watching even when this video came on. Im obsessed with your makeup techniques and just you in general. I had just taken a sip of my coffee and heard "eye hole"... I had such a hard time not spitting my coffee across the room! I will, from the point forward call the eye socket an eye hole. Thank you for being you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
same! (with calling it a eye hole not the coffee part) eye hole gang!
Yes, I am a victim of over plucking in the 2000’s and now my brows are my biggest insecurity. I spend so much time making sure they are symmetrical and filled in every morning! I’m seriously considering micro blading.
Me too, mine grew except for the tails, they are still bald
Try put on your brows conditioner for eyelashes. One makeup artist in Poland rescued tail of her eyebrow by doing that. Maybe it will help a little bit…🤷🏻♀️
I agree use a good brow serum, plus iodine (found in kelp, taken orally) can help with brow tails. It balances out a common iodine imbalance, which many of us have, without knowing it.
It hurts but you won’t regret it was in the same boat, I only wish I had done it sooner
As a fellow 90s brow trender (the first time around) I too had not much left - after months and months of research I found a good microblade practitioner and haven't looked back - I absolutely love them and wish I'd done it sooner. it's the best! definitely worth really inspecting their work - do they do a variety of skin tones, does their style align with yours, do they shape the brows for each individual and is the pigment a good match. oh and do they share video of the work, not just pics.
so on following trends that are permanently damaging / aren't for you? 100 percent agree - don't pluck/thread/wax for a trend; you will regret it!
I'm so glad it's 'okay' again to have skinny, 90s brows because I suit that look. I've tried Instagram/ laminated/ feathered and it makes me look old. I'm going to keep rocking my skinny brows. I just look prettier this way. I've stopped plucking but I use an eyebrow razor to get rid of my arch, then I neaten up the front and then fill them in with a taupe pencil
I always found skinny brows to be sexier. I absolutely look awful in straight, thick brows.
Same here. I naturally have heavy eyelids and a thick brow just makes them look heavier and my face just looks miserable and grouchy lol. When I clean up and define my arch and the tail, I get more compliments on my looks.
really loved hearing your take on mousse foundations! I feel like benetint type of products are coming back as well

Loved the information you provided about these trends.
Thank You for telling us!!!
I was bullied and called "man eyebrows" in year 7 so had all of my eyebrows plucked off, they were 2 hairs thin, destroyed my face 😭 SO thankful I managed to grow my brows back without permanent patches! Leave them alone ☝🏻 love your videos 💙
I got the same thing, around the same age. But I was proud AF of mine - I was a huge tomboy, so I didn’t want to look feminine and girly.
I had the opposite with my arms lol, I shaved them because I thought they looked hairy and then I got made fun of it for being bare, never shaved them again
The mousse was part of my routine for a long time. Its great for people who dont want liquid, but want more coverage than powder. Great for oily skin needing coverage.
You're eye look in this is too die for!!
I have a very strong opinion about brows 😅. Screw the trends & go with the style of brow that compliments your facial features & that you feel beautiful with😊.
Also work with the natural brow hair you have, not against it.
Amen!
Exactly!!
It’s so funny when you call yourself an “old man”. 😂 You have great advice, but you’re just so young and lovely! Thank GOD for digital age drag queens for making the brow covering technique more accessible. If I wanted those Pam Anderson brows I could do it without shaving anything off.

Roberrttttt this look!! I’m in love with the eyes! 😍😍
I'm 37, I was there and I have very thick brows, I suffered a lot for picking away my brows for years when I was younger; when the trend was over I finally let them grow, my beautician said the same, that they'll never be back again, but she was wrong luckily for me...yeah because I was lucky, that's it. Lot of women of my age have permanent damaged them and get them tattooed.
As someone who lost half a brow to a waxing "professional" 20 years ago, this is excellent advice!
I’m a brow tech! Over-waxing under your brows seems to make your eye hoods droop too! I try do mine as little as possible now! ❤️
Eek really? I have hooded eyes. I get my brows waxed roughly every 6 weeks. I’m early 30s now and want to retain my youth! Any advice? Should I pluck between waxes so I go less frequently?
@@ginkel23 yeah I’m the same early 30’s. I would say try gently pluck whilst holding the skin firm. A good threading tech will ask you to hold your skin firm whilst they thread. The less trauma around the eye area the better. I will say though every 6 weeks is possibly ok, I have some ladies that come every 2 weeks wanting a fresh wax, and I’d say maybe just let me tidy them with the tweezers instead. It totally depends on your skin type and your brow thickness. Myself- I have super dry, thin skin and thin brows, so I can afford to wait. I know this is different for those with oily skin who’s brows grow super thick- which is a blessing as far as I’m concerned but can be a curse too. But definitely the less trauma around the eye area the better and waxing is a real trauma- especially if the tech isn’t taking the skin type into account. No fault of their own- it wasn’t something that was taught on my course it’s just an observation over the years. I hope that makes sense xx
Your eye makeup was absolutely mesmerizing here! I couldn't stop staring 😍
I've been binge rewatching twin videos, the calmness of this (or lack of pure chaos and Marcus sass) shook me for a second
