    She really explains it well at 1:50 when she starts to talk about how sexual harassment is about power. Most people who have not experienced sexual harassment don't understand this. They may have never experienced the powerlessness one feels when confronted with a comment from someone who holds power over you. They say things like, "Why did they wait so long?" They don't get that sometimes making complaints makes life much worse when the person you're complaining about has power over you. You could lose your job, your credibility, your husband may not believe you, your friends may think you're making a big deal out of nothing, other women may feel like you're just too sensitive because all women deal with this. Sexual harassment victims feel like they can't win no matter what... so they stay silent... UNTIL NOW #PreventSexualHarassment #EncouragingEquityatWork #RespectinTheWorkplace

      The women at my organization are in on it. It has been only a couple of weeks since the male harasser was hired on, and I have worked there for many years. A male sexual harasser has appeared that is so bad that I am now fleeing my job. I will put in two weeks notice to escape this ruthless beast who will make any nasty story about a woman he has to because that woman denies him the chance to get closer. An absolute monster, and I have to honestly say, the only thing I can do is flee.

    Absolutely unacceptable!I've been having difficulty in New Brunswick. I was impregnated when a minor. The RCMP refuse to charge the individual for the crime (Jean Guy Maillet)although I have the math and the child to prove it! blatantly denying my human rights. Their attitude is similar. I am also terminally ill due to medical negligence Dr William Taylor, & Dr.(former) Jonathan Taylor, and physical abuse from spouses/thieves Gilles Malenfant etc..
    I am a Worldclass artist now not gonna last much longer, have a daughter and 3 grandchildren been waiting for my revenue for a long time. I am being systematically murdered. I was even threatened with an axe a few days ago and they will do nothing!!!! since 1993 for me.

    I have been inappropriately touched at my work by a colleague. I told him not to do that again, and he didn't.I've had a couple of other situations like that with other people... when I decided I wanted to talk about it with a senior, I was told that SHE( I knew it would be good to talk to a woman) was certain they did not mean in that way. But I don't care what they mean with it or what their goal might be... I just had to get it off my chest. Some female colleagues told me their stories too. which made me feel like we can do something about it. t's not my problem, it's a problem that's all over,everywhere. But even when I told another of my superiors, I felt like he thought I was just whining...Not thinking about a solution that could help others as well. It feels absolutely disgusting...

    I think it is about the self respect and the way a woman (or a man... I have been a witness of a sexual harassment towards a good looking young chap from older females at work) present themselves and set boundaries.
    Personally I didn't come across bullying and harassment not at my school, uni or workplace... I don't except this type of behaviour in the first place, however I saw cases, when women would giggle at the dirty jokes (I'm not sure if they enjoyed the attention or loughing was an uncontrolled defence mechanism), but nobody complained, so it could be assumed that such behaviour is acceptable.
    I think that mentally healthy men and women do work well together, in this day and age inequality and harassment in the workplace became a big no-no! The harsh cases presented in this video sound more like attempted rape, and this is a criminal offence.

    Informative talk...I respect her voice on this issue, and commend her for her courage to speak truth to power. However, I do judge her on her past actions. Imo, not just her, but a majority of "on-air talent" at FOX news in particular, (but as a whole throughout the entire corporate media) completely lose or at best temporary displace all or a good portion of their morality as a prerequisite for employment. Her complicity in ushering in this perpetual corporate tyranny we all face should not be overlooked or understated.

    I'm all for equality, and frankly, I have yet to see any sexual harassment in all of the 6+ companies I have worked for. And frankly, those companies I work for, the woman are praised for literally everything, and given promotion over some guy who has worked way longer and harder than them. That just might be because of the selected area of work I have done in a progressive city, and the companies I worked for are desperately afraid of getting sued therefore treat females like a princess. It sucks to hear that this happens, and I do not doubt that it does, but it seems that there is no consideration that maybe some of these claims of women saying its sexism are not the entire context. I have seen many guys get turned down a job that they are overqualified for, simply because the company is trying to fill a quota of females so they look like to other potential employees as well as good PR. With that said, something to add that I have noticed is guys tend to go overboard with not trying to overstep on females to the point that we're walking on eggshells, and that is something that is not addressed. This is not to invalidate sexual harassment that happens in the workplace, I just have yet to see it or hear it from someone in person.

We don’t need “complete gender segregation” in the workplace. What we need is for everyone to act like decent human beings to each other. • @morbidblade
      @morbidblade 7 років тому +1

      The second part yes would be assault (grabbing someone). The first part you're saying if the guy has game it's fine, if not it's a crime. An attractive charismatic person can have the same intentions as a less attractive uncharismatic person. The only difference is the attraction level. The funny thing is women today have such an inflated sense of self-worth they rate 80% of males below average. If this keeps on the same track then no men will ever want to flirt with women since they aren't within that top percentage where it won't be considered harassment.

    you are so right. I left my job because of sexual harassment from my manager. He had tried to planted cheap ideas into my head, but I always shut him by logical reasons, to the point he could not talk to me back. But the next day he would be starting this BS again with some more BS. I changed my shift to daytime so that I would not be working with him. Then he came on his day off to talk this BS with me. I changed my time completely to not having any contact with him. Still, he blamed me with stupid accusation and non-stop problems. So I left my job. That was how stupid and sick he was. He made me felt so disgusted by his present every time when I saw him coming to the work place on his day off. I was so sick of this person that I need to find tasks required travelling so that I would not have to put up with his sick mind. Despite all my efforts, I still left my job, because of I did not feel safe anymore. Look at our society now, the music videos, movies, and fashion sending wrong messages to young girls, boys and men as if women were a piece of meat or women like to be treated that way. Come on! Where is equality? Men are still controlling the society and exploiting women by sending wrong messages to youth. I mean, some famous people move her butt and opening her legs wide, and flashing nearly all of her boost on tv, what the differences between that and a prostitute!!!?

    I’ve gotten from management…
    What’s that thing on your face? (Then she laughed)
    She asked why my hair is shaved (I lied about why because she doesn’t deserve to know the real answer as to why it’s none of her business and she shows that she’s an un trust worthy person and is immature.
    Gossips
    Has no empathy for customers
    Been called sexy by a female co worker as I was changing my shirt (had a tank top on)
    Recently another co worker said that the reason why I hurt my back is because I was in all these different positions with my boyfriend and also hanging on the chandelier. This is from a female co worker who’s apparently a so called Christian. 🤷‍♀️
    I’m sitting here with no job. We just went through the sexual harassment training to and 2 of the woman didn’t learn anything from it. I told management but by then I was just done.
    I also had a co worker bully me for mumbling. She would mumble back. Extremely immature people of no help to me.
    It’s also truly pathetic when you try to open up and ask co workers about their life (they are able to talk about their own lives) but when it comes to me no one ever asks about mine nor do they care it’s truly truly sad. God is showing me who I am and who I want to be though and I really want to love people genuinely.

    Preface: this is mostly intended to be a dialogue about marketing your ideas
    I really don't think anything you can suggest will ever actually permanently remove any facet of evil from It seems much more like an awareness piece. Additionally I don't really subscribe to all of the rhetoric surrounding the common arguments surrounding risk assessment among a few other things you mentioned. (IE "asking for it"--not that anyone in their right mind would say that--but every time I hear that argument it's usually used in the context of late night strolls in sketchy areas) Although a great counterpoint is I don't get out much and live in a pretty liberal area, so my data set is pretty skewed towards reasonable/decent human beings.
    Removing that clause would help errybody, it's not only a women's rights issue it's also a human rights issue.
    I totally agree with the base message and I think the reason why you get the "Oh boy we're in for a ride" type messages are because you speak from a very pained place and may be read as accusatory or defensive. And, yeah, I know--no one read this.

    Why is it that whenever women make their struggle public men are like "me too, hey? So don't say you are the only one suffering"? Why instead of complaining that she isn't including you bc chances are she got more mails from women bc more women are harrased, you take your time to make your struggle public too? It's like she did something wrong for not advocating for harassed men too. If men want to be heard speak up, but don't shame the women that don't speak for you every time they have the chance to speak for other women. Speak up and women will support you. Can you do the same?

    Perhaps when women stop using their 'sexuality' to get ahead in life, this would help stop men sometimes being inappropriate?!
    It would be an interesting survey to ask women how many of them have done so and if they know any woman who has done so.

      Its significantly worse, she actually insinuated that our response to 9/11 was good and we should use it as a model to respond to sexual harassment in the work place. She literally wants to make the workplace as inhospitable, inefficient and violating as an airport is. She uses long debunked statistics and says we need to make a law, when there is already a law in existence.

    The real problem is someone needs to sacrifice their reputation as the first whistleblower in order to help others speak up. Hopefully they have evidence, but they probably often don't. False allegations are made all the time, and sometimes ruin the lives of innocent people. And the secretive nature of real harassers and assaulters is part of what makes speaking up so difficult.

      Unfortunately sexual harassment happens to both genders, and people need to stop putting this double standard and work together to fix the problem. I have witnessed a man be sexually harassed, and I thought it was disgusting just as if it was done to a woman. Unfortunately it is even more unlikely for men fo come foward. Sexual misconduct will only stop like she said if we all get on the same page and fight it together. Men and women can help end rape culture in our society.

    • @vanoonanoona
      @vanoonanoona 7 років тому +2

      Making inappropriate advances on someone is never okay, no matter the gender. However, she is talking about the magnitude of women that go through it, to the point where they could lose their job if they don’t comply. The stats show that most men don’t go through sexual harassment as much as women do. Men don’t feel like they have to be forced to do a sexual act in order to keep their job or get a promotion. A woman in charge would most likely never force a man’s head into her lap if he wanted to get the job. He would just get it based on merit. And that’s where the problem is.

    There is this creepy customer at my new job who is unemployed and about twice my age. And he SMELLS SO BAD. He comes in everyday about closing time and literally every day I work asks me what my schedule is and where I am working next. And IN MY PERSONAL SPACE. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I told my bosses and they say he's harmless he just doesn't have friends but if I feel threatened to come find them. He has called me beautiful, and to be honest I where a t shirt, sweatpants and no Makeup. Yeah I've delt wth creepy customers in my days many times. But apparently i found out this guy has asked the other two older women who work there their schedules over and over until he stops. MAYBE if this guy is so lonely and has no friends idk maybe you could at least shower and not hit on young women. Idk just an idea throwing it out there. So whats the moral of the story here ladies, if you want to get hit on by creepy petafiles, then just be a cashier!

      I get it. No matter which side of the argument people in this comment section are on, I'm pretty sure all of them can agree on the fundamental concept of sexual harassment being a crime and something to be punished. However, people are disagreeing on how widespread of a issue it is. Some would say we've done everything we realistically can to prevent it and any events you do see are the uncontrollable/unpreventable outliers. Others argue from the stance of it's never been enough, big steps are required before things can even be close to being alright. That's my understanding of it at least. But to make a change or to be convincing you can't simply play the emotion card. Nor can you say that everyone who doesn't empathize for a stranger outside of their personal life is a sociopath/monster. Her experience and her emotions are an important part of her opinion, but if she wanted change she needed more than that.
