Always love these! think i archived the most of them in a playlist just for practice. The logic and methods to get that short of a design tree and all the control is amazing.
Hi, thanks for the video. I am having one issue with the clamping lobe extrusion. When I make the extrusion, the top and bottom line that merges with the 60mm extruded cylinder, it curls upward at the ends of the 30 degree lines. So when I go to fillet the top line and under line, it messes up the fillet because there isn't enough room. Instead of the top and bottom lines of the clamping lobe following a circle path around the 60mm cylinder, it follows like a parabolic path, so the vertices are closer to the top of the cylinder, rather than the line being uniform and following the radius of the cylinder.
Oh I'm not sure if this is incorrect really, looking at detail B section view, the fillet curves down a little bit, so maybe mine is ok... it doesn't look this way in your video
Hi there! Let us see if we can direct you to a good resource! at 4:15 min. When you extrude the clamp at mid plane with 36mm. It gives you extra material. Does it give you extra material on the other side? It should. I don't see you delete it. Just wondering...thank you for the quick model. I listen closely ( all co-planar) That will answer my question.
Hi Mai, you are correct there is an extra face on the other side as well. At time 4:30 in the video , I use the selection helper to grab all co-planar faces for deletion. The Selection helper can be a very useful tool to help with selection.
@@markschneider6718 Hi Mark. How do we pick that co-planar? Or it need to be check mark on the settings? I have solidworks 2013. I think it has that option too. Right now my "hole wizar" doesn't work any more. I contact Hawridge. They said it was to old and can not upgrade to 2019 or 2020 We have to buy a new version. That's sucks 😀
@@Vanguyen09 Hi Mai, Unfortunately, the selection helper for the delete face command did not exist in SW2013 so you will have to select the other face manually. SOLIDWORKS continually looks for ways like this to improve the software, and these improvements are included in the software maintenance fee. SW2013 is still a fine CAD tool, and you can continue to use it, but so many good productivity tools, quality and performance enhancements have been added since then. If you can afford it, you may want to consider an upgrade to the latest version.
Hi Hans, your FOS should be pretty close each time (within 10%) It depends on the mesh settings that you are using. if you use different mesh settings and solvers you will get some differences. When grading these parts, FOS is one of the criteria, but an exact match is not necessary, The loads and boundary conditions are also checked to make sure they are applied properly, and the geometry is checked for an exact match.
I got Mass: 984.47 FoS: 3.49 Check your fillets, I got close to what you had, but I rechecked the pocket fillets and noticed I missed the vertical fillets near the holes
Model Mania were the key series that get me into Solidworks. The presenter is cool as always 🤓

❤❤Thank you for your excellent tutorial ❤❤
at minute 4:13, how is this extrusion done without going to operations, what key do I have to press to do it or what complement
You have to activate "instant 3D", you will find it in the features panel

Very nice! Quick time!!
I have an error while meshing part. fillets have problem with meshing
Excuse me, how to get circle dimensioning style like this? Appreciate for any help!!!

is there a phase 2 model for the 2021 part ?
No Phase 2 for Model Mania 2021. Since we were virtual and testing new web tools for delivery and submission, we wanted to keep the contest simple.

I made this part four times identically but I got a different FOS each time. Is that normal?

Quite Brilliant Sir....
smart thanks sr
Nice part but video is only 360p in 2021?
Maybe it was still updloading/processing @DesignDreamsLLC . I can view it in 1080p
Awesome!
That was fast
Great...
Wow
Right these guys make it look so easy, practice, practice, practice!!
Just adding some results for comparison!
Mass: 984.58g
FoS: 3.11
I got
Mass: 984.47
FoS: 3.49
My results:
983.02 gr
F.O.S=2.8
anybody else got these?
I got
Mass: 984.47
FoS: 3.49

by far the easiest of them all
