Replace Face to the flat reference surface is also a great option for Part 2. You can get both the up to surface extrude boss and cut in one feature. Don't recall if that feature was available back in 2004.
8:37 Isn’t using emboss wrong here? Aren’t the dimensions from the sketch projected normal to the surfaces with it? The drawing dimensions are from an orthogonal top view. Or maybe I’m wrong and the “boss extrude” from solidworks doesn’t worm the same way as “emboss” from fusion 360 which is what I’m using right now.
I only started to learn Solidworks recently so in some parts it was a little difficult to follow all the actions and it took more time, but otherwise this tutorial is excellent and really helped me.
Got the first phase no problem using spheres...WHAT THE HECK IS THIS PHASE 2? Okay so I got it. Not too bad just shocking we are now doing so much in a second phase. Not complaining I promise! How did you do it... Oh that's right the shift key for outer dimension of arcs QUADRANT SELECTION? COOOL! Revolved Cut...oh... Offset the sketch? but it shows more than one 25mm offset so I kept them individual. Offset from surface... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? that was so Simple! I didn't realize that both parting lines could occur at the same time Extruded surface! OH!!!! I didn't know about it and used a reference plane. That way I could cut from the surface through all. Automatically removed missing edges. Good to know! woah woah woah! Drag a copy of the fillet onto the edge!?!? QUESTION! how do you get the dependency lines to show up in the Feature Design Tree? I'll probably look this up later too.
These solution tutorials are so cool!
I'm learning something new in every one of these videos.
