Great video, I drove past the Desperado coaster last month and was wondering about the story on it. Primm is a really weird little place.
You're welcome for me telling you about Reaper drop ride to dooms existence
Honorable mention: any mountain coaster.
Top 10 Amusement Parks with no Roller Coasters (excluding traveling carnivals)
The High Roller at the Las Vegas Stratosphere
That's been gone for a few years now sadly
I'm surprised Thunder Dophin in Tokyo didn't make this list as all....
It was literally the first thing that came to mind when I clicked this. The ride isn't the best, but the location in the Tokyo Dome is really interesting.
I thought of including it, but I have been there and there actually is what I would call a small theme park around it
I rode Desperado once. We drove out to Primm just to ride it!
How was it??
@@UptownWatta it was fun, but rough. It was a long time ago tho. I want to say it was 2006 or 2007
After watching your vlog I'm gonna have to mentuon the Keith Monorail!
Me missing Ring Racer 😅

Big apple was not designed by mgm with togo as nyny was not owned by mgm at that time
Also speed closed before sahara closed and it is NOT in storage, its sitting rotting away in a parking lot
So you’re saying it’s being STORED in the parking lot? They’re using the parking lot for STORAGE of old roller coaster parts? 🤔
Speed’s last day of operation was 15 days before the casino closed, yes, but it wasn’t formally closed until the casino was.
And the New York-New York casino was developed by MGM with the help of Primadonna Resorts as a joint venture. Might wanna fact check yourself there. MGM were always involved, they just bought out the remainder of the operating stakes in 1999.
Correction at 5:05, it WAS the tallest rollercoaster in the world at the time.
No, that’s not correct. Desperado opened to the public on August 11, 1994, at a height of 209 feet. By that time, The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach had been operating since May 28, at a height of 213 feet
I rode drop ride to doom the year it opened. I don't remember anything about it so it obviously wasn't special
Speed: The Ride
backyard coasters maybe? very janky
What about the Coaster that used to be at the top of the Stratosphere in Vegas? Certainly there's never been another coaster built THAT high off the ground... hehe...
I’d consider it being at a micro amusement park, since there wasn’t just the coaster but 3 flat rides as well.
Why couldn’t you convert the height from feet to meters? Everything else was metric….
As an enthusiast I tend to use feet when it comes to height, as it’s easier contextually thanks to the hyper-, giga-, strata- etc. labels
Saying a coaster is 200 feet tall immediately tells me it’s a hyper, rather than saying 61.6 metres or whatever the conversion is.
Since I was raised in a metric country though, I haven’t picked up those habits with any of the other stats.
If it makes you happier, I could put conversions on the screen for future videos, but I find it rolls off the tongue easier and makes my trains of thought clearer if I work in feet when it comes to roller coaster height.
At least Desperado still exists. I have wanted to ride it for at least 23 years.
I positively *HATE* the I-15. 😡🤬🖕🏽🖕🏽
