KD is my home park as well. One thing I would emphasize is this: INTENSE does not mean ROUGH. This coaster is super-smooth. It doesn't bang you around. But it does subject you to some of the most extreme G-forces available on a coaster. It's my all-time #1.
I remember going on my 17th birthday and almost actually crying cause I was so freaked out to go on it - after getting convinced, I rode that thing 5 times in a row
I loved it but my daughter passed out every time for the first half of that season before the breaks. We were there that first weekend, My daughter and I had our hands up and I watched her arms fall and go completely limp in that first turn.
I'm so jealous, since I'll never even have a chance to ride it in it's original form! I mean, it can't be much worse than a Skyscraper, right? I'm curious whether or not I could take those forces without passing out, but I guess I'll never find out.
Well id on't really get it why this park is so quite compaired to the other parks i visited. Not done a whole lot of parks in the states yet but this was defently one of the more pleasant ones. I would have loved to ride volcano i think thats the one kind of coaster this park is still missing. And maybe swap out the old arrow ( i'm assuming its an arrow and not a vekoma) with a new gen vekoma. Not that the ride was bad but the newer ones are so much better.
there used to always be a line, now the past several times i’ve gone it’s just been straight up closed😂. it’s a very fun coaster but not nearly as scary as you’d expect bc it’s so quick.
The first time I got the chance to ride this I was blown away and was like "yeah this is definitely fitting into my top three." However a year later I got to experience it in the front seat at night and it has not moved from my number one spot in over 5 years.
At night, front row, on the Intimidator 305 is truly an experience you can’t get anywhere else. During Halloween haunt, they actually have all of the lights around the track off, and that’s an even crazier experience.
I've ridden I305 over the years and agree on the intensity and incredible speed that doesn't let up until the final brake run. It is one of my favorite rides. I usually greyed out after the first drop until I rode next a woman whose father was a fighter pilot. She told me that in order to prevent blacking out on high G maneuvers, the pilots squeeze their abdomen very tightly to keep their blood in the upper part of the body. I tried that on the first drop and it worked! I do that for the first drop now and don't get light headed or grey out anymore. The high speed turns do get a little painful on my neck and back though. I do make a point of riding this whenever I visit KD, but I can't ride it too many times before I start to feel light headed and worn out.
Last time I rode this was the only time I’ve blacked out on a roller coaster. Ridden this before, but I ended up riding it in the back row on a super hot day, and coming out of FoF with no refreshment afterward. So it was 95 degrees out and hadn’t had a drink for like 30 minutes. How you describe the blackout is exactly how it felt to me, I woke up when the snappy transitions started and regained my vision when the trimmed airtime hill kicked in. I’ve never hit the brake run on a roller coaster, covering my face and trying to comprehend what happened until then. And again, that’s coming from someone who’s ridden it multiple times.
So crazy to see a video on this coaster. I’ve lived an hour away from kings dominion my entire life and have ridden the intimidator so many times. I gray out every single time too. It’s unfortunate that the volcano you talk about in this video is gone now, that was another big favorite of mine. The flight of fear being a completely indoor rollercoaster is also so awesome and the alien theming is excellent. KD is such an amazing amusement park!
The Outer Limits.... I mean "Flight of Fear" is one of the most underrated coasters that I even have to tell people about sometimes because it simply does not get the love it deserves! It may not be the biggest and fastest... but the fun factor is x3!
I-305 was my number 1 until fury opened and it’s still in my top 10. I love this relentless thing. I have a soft spot for this ride because on my July 2014 visit, I had my first front row ride on it, at night no less and I felt a spirit went through me while riding. My dad passed away the day before my visit so I knew he watched over me. 🙏🏾💙
I still must do fury going there in june but i like the intimin better then the B&M at least usually. The one exception are the inverts B&M rules in that one altough if you want a bit more of an relaxed ride the new stc from vekoma isn't that bad either.
@@arturobianco848Fury325 is the best coaster on planet earth- I hope to hear your thoughts. Smoothest ride at that speed and that amount of airtime you’ll ever experience.
I also prefer B&M for Giga coasters! Apollos Chariot and Nitro are both incredible❤. I unfortunately missed Fury 305 when we went to the park a good bit ago, it wasn't running 😕
I've only ever gotten one ride on I305, back in 2022, and I had the full blackout experience. Your visualization of what the blackout is like was so accurate! That was exactly what it was for me. It's still an awesome ride, but I'd love to get another chance to experience it and hopefully stay conscious throughout the entire thing 😂😂😂 It's a weird feeling to have the credit but not remember much of it
It's pretty crazy but I've only ever greyed out at the end of the a ride and it was on SAW at Thorpe Park which for me is one of the most intense coasters on earth. I haven't been on I305 yet though. Is blacking out actually dangerous or is it just an uncomfortable feeling? Hopefully I'd only grey out though because I'm pretty good with remembering to clench my lower body on those turns.
@@all-caps3927not dangerous unless you have some medical conditions, i’ve never blacked out or even greyed out but apparently it’s an uncomfortable experience
As somebody who loves Orion, it has completely changed with how it rides. It used to have minimal forces and was rattling. Now it runs fast, has great forces, and is smooth as glass. Every time I go back it gets better.
Lmao minimal forces. You guys are so obnoxious and weird with your “forceless” criticisms. You’re the reason I don’t tell people I like coasters, because they will instantly look down on me for doing so because of entitled ass people like you
One thing I love about it only having only 2 supports for the lift is that you can see it sliiiiightly sag when you’re in the station. Perfectly adds to the intimidation!
i grew up 2 hours south from doswell and i remember the times before I305, growing up and gradually being allowed to ride the big coasters.. i’ll NEVER forget us one day approaching the park for another yearly trip and seeing the brand new I305 appear in the skyline, and your passionate explanation of it encapsulates my entire first ride experience. it’s truly a must-ride for any enthusiast and kings dominion will always be one of my favorite parks!
I rode I-305 for the first and only time a couple years ago, and absolutely loved it! It was a hot summer day (but I was keeping myself well hydrated) and I rode it multiple times, and each and every time, I greyed out exactly as Taylor described. I was surprised that even at age 49, I could do about 7 or 8 rides without feeling beat up physically. Amazing ride, as intense as what I'd heard, so much worth the trip to KD.
I remember during a darker time in my life, I was overcoming withdrawals from substance abuse and in order to speed up that horrible process a little bit, I went on this rollercoaster ride over and over and over again on their slower week days. Pumping my veins full of my own natural adrenaline felt much better than lying on a couch waiting for it to end
Thats EXTREMELY a good way to deal with wd though! Shoot I wish I would have thought to do that back when. Adrenaline always made it just a little better! So happy to be out of that time in my life!!!
Kings Dominion was my home park growing up. I remember when Anaconda was new and dwarfed Rebel Yell. It felt huge towering over the trees and lake. Then I305 was built and was literally twice as tall. Anaconda and the whole park look like a joke from the top of that hill. And the speed of cable life! Tears flying out of my eyes… best ride. It’s my #2 out of 184 credits only after El Toro.
This is my favourite review you’ve done so far! Along with after your ROH first ride reaction, the feeling of “I MUST RIDE THIS ASAP” is so strong right now - I’ve always wanted to ride it, but now I simply need to get there as a priority. Thank you 🙏
I went nearly a dozen years without going to a theme park between early undergrad and getting back into things after the pandemic hooked me with a return to RCT... I went to KD for the first time in 2022 as my first theme park after that gap. I had heard about I305 from enthusiast YT videos and decided, with a few similarly wary friends who had previously avoided it, to make that my first coaster of my adult experience. We ended up up lapping it multiple times over a half hour or so before finally getting to other coasters. 😂 I only have about 36 credits total so far, including several from before undergrad, but it's easily my favorite coaster of that list by a wide margin!
Well i have close to 700 and its still in me top 5 so you ve done at least one of the great ones. Not suprised its by a wide margin. From what i'v seen and not ridden yet i don't expect that it will move out of my top 10.
This is my number 1 ride of all time. I'm a massive enthusiast from the UK - finally rode it last summer 2023 on a theme park road trip. Lightyears beyond anythint else ive ever experienced, went on it 7 times. Breathtaking ride.
No one can call themselves a serious coaster connoisseur unless they've done I305. It just has to be experienced to be believed. As a Brit who isn't able to get out to the States that often, I'm very fortunate to have been on this (and lived to tell the tale!).
undoubtedly my favorite coaster i've ever been on. i would ride it over and over for hours whenever i had the time. the fact that it blacks you out for a second is just surreal and i love it. i'm very lucky to live so close to this park :)
We spent summer 2023 traveling around trying to hit all the CF parks... 305 was by far one of our favorites out of the parks we got to. Carrowinds, Kings Dominion, Michigan Adventures, Multiple KI and CP as they are our home parks.... Great Coaster! We want to go back to Kings Dominion- beautiful park and excellent rides! Tumbili is also a new favorite!
Exactly, I enjoy rides better without people next to me, its breaks the vibe off as soon as upu sit down, it like dam it. Its happend to me all the time.
This Rollercoaster is definitely in my top 3. It’s truly a great experience every time. The fast climb gets you going pretty much right away and you don’t even have time to get scared before you’re flying down
I love this rollercoaster! I still haven't made up my mind which coaster I like best, but Intimidator 305 and Fury 325 are definitely my top 2 favorites.
They’re both really different rides, but both worth a try. I prefer Fury for the longer and more well rounded ride, but some people love the intensity i305 provides.
Rode both of these in the same day with my son. Did Carowinds one day, then the next morning did a quick ride on Fury, then drove to KD & hit I305 on our way back home to Maryland. One of my best days ever.
I’ll give the nod to Eejanaika for most intense coaster ever. But I will say, the more I ride i305, the more I ‘respect’ it Also, don’t give Six Flags any Pizza Hut Sponsorship ideas 😂
Haven't done that one but yes that might take the nr 1 spot in intensety till that day this is the one for me in that category. Well at least in intensity weill still being enjoyable.
I305 is one of those coasters that you really can’t tell what it will feel like through a screen. With KD basically being my home park, I luckily can ride i305 whenever the parks open. One thing that the videos will never be able to translate is the feeling of those fast snappy turns. You’ll never know what it means for something to be aggressive yet BUTTERY SMOOTH until you try this 😅
Its always nice hearing people talk about their home park and referring it as "we" as in "were getting..." or like "our..." just kinda funny and wholesome.
This ride intimidated me so much while waiting on that short line that I wanted to run away from getting on the coaster. Massive anxiety attack. When the time came to get on, to walk across the seats, I sat down and experienced the most intense ride ever! The first drop happened and I was in pure adrenaline bliss. Wow! I was so happy I experienced, but definitely it was a one and done for me. Killer coaster!
Hands down one of my all time favorite rides. I was fortunate enough to be able to marathon it 17 times without getting out of my seat one during ERT for an event. Unforgettable experience.
Last year for my birthday I went with my best friend to KD who had never been before even though she, like me, grew up in VA, and the “GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES” wasn’t working 😭😭 I hyped her up about it too.
@@marcusmcgraw3519 of course I hyped up the whole ride, but I did tell her that they had a cool voiceover audio and it kinda sucked that the station was pretty much dead silent
omg, what has been going on with i305, has KD just given up on it? i haven’t heard the voiceover in so long😭 and half the time when i’ve gone i305 is closed!
Only trip ive made to KD was about 10 years ago, rode I 305 4 times, greyed out each time, i remember freaking out initially cause no ride had ever done that to me before and only one ride (Goliath, 6Flags Ga) has done that to me since, but what an experience, ill never forget it, alot of fun, definitely in my top 5
this thing is my number 1 (and my home park has Steel Vengeance, so that says alot) specifically for the positives... blistering positive gs immediately followed by amazing negatives.
Local here, have ridden the coaster many of many times. Video is extremely accurate. Aggressive and intense! I would say it’s the closest any of us will get to flying an F18 fighter jet. Love it!!!
I305 has plenty of airtime imo. The drop in the back row has great ejector along with the following hill. The transitions also provide some nice airtime.
Yeah, the first season this was open I was there on a slow day. We could get off and just hop back on in a seat that didn't have a line. I had to stop after about 5 rides in a row, I was really starting to feel it.
still can’t believe this ride opened the exact same day i was born. this is probably my #1 bucket list coaster because of this and just seeing this makes me excited
Let me just start with this. I prefer positive g force, pure speed, and pure sustained ejector or floater airtime over quick pops of airtime, pacing also plays a huge part in how I rank rides. I also have an extremely high g force tolerance and I have to be very very dehydrated to start greying out. That being said, Intimidator 305 is in my opinion, truly the greatest coaster ever made. It has insane speed, positive gs that cause most to grey or black out (even if I didn’t since I rode it right after having a meal and drinking a bunch of water) and insane sustained ejector airtime, insane airtime pops from the lateral snaps. This is truly THE greatest coaster ever in my opinion and I don’t believe anything can beat it. It’s absolutely perfect. The transitions were designed in a masterful way, so that while you’re viciously being tossed around by the ride you get ejected out of your seat on the snaps. There is no coaster that can ever beat this ride for me, it’s absolutely the perfect roller coaster. If you haven’t ridden it, ride it asap. I love this ride. One of the 2 coasters I consider to truly be a perfect coaster. Nothing will ever beat it. It’s unreal. If you read through the entire little essay I wrote I commend you. :)
It's a perfect 10/10 for me, and neck and neck with Velocicoaster for my favorite Intamin. I love the airtime you get on those high speed turns. Even though I barely get a slight greyout, if any, I still love it. I wish I would greyout or blackout on it. It's really cool when it happens. For my first ride in 2018, I intentionally didn't eat or drink anything for 16 hours, and not even a slight greyout, but it has happened on a few of my rides. On my visit last year, most of the people in the park had i305 as their top priority; THE reason they wanted to go to the park. I think it's more popular than we realize. But the operations are so awesome, that it doesn't get a long line. I've always seen it on 2 trains, even though all 8 days I've been here have been slow days. On those slow days, everyone flooded i305 and kept going around for more laps. The line stayed short, but the trains were always full, and this does ride best with a full train.
I would love to see you do a series where you revisit some of your older reviews and see how much your opinions on the coasters in question have changed.
I love roller coasters that challenge my perception of what a roller coaster is capable of doing. There is nothing else on earth like I305. When it's running in peak form, it's my favorite coaster on the planet.
I've ridden this coaster a ton of times and the intensity is incredible. I have never blacked out, but everytime I go, I have buddies who have. It is probably the closest thing to being in a fighter jet that a coaster can be. A 100% must for coaster enthusiasts!!
KD is my home park and as a huge NASCAR fan, when this was built I immediately had to ride it. It’s unparalleled and is the best interpretation of Dale and his style. Absolutely amazing.
I first rode the I305 on my high school senior trip in June of 2008. I think I had just opened in May of 08'... Rode it 5 times that day. Twice in the morning on the front row and three times in the afternoon in various positions. Second ride in the morning I greyed out. In the afternoon I greyed out more each time, last time was completely. This ride is very instense and super smooth. I loved it since I'm an adrenline junkie. Most of my classmates experienced ride symptoms. I also did hear the next year they modified the ride and wasnt suprised. I was so blown away that this coaster exsisted after my experience and because of how over hyped/ watered down some rides can be. Thank you for sharing and stirring some nostalgia. Great job !
im from VA, thanks for showing the I35 some love. i have allways loved rollercoasters and seeked out the newest and best. Even before i found this video, I have allways said this coaster is different and way more intense than any coaster i have ever rode. It will be the most intense coaster you will ever ride. The only coaster where i experience a grey out. Its real!!
I love roller coasters, I’ve been on every coaster in Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion. I went on the Intimidator once, and it is the only ride I’ve ever come close to blacking out on. It was the only ride I’ve ever greyed out on even, and while it was a unique experience, it’ll probably be a while before I do it again (but I will do it again eventually). I honestly don’t remember much of the ride past the start because I was still coming back to
Damn, we went as teenagers when this thing first opened and after that first turn, I looked over at my buddy, and he was passed out. I remember it being a whirlwind and our whole group felt shook up after haha. Glad to have my memories confirmed!
I’ve been obsessed with Intimidator 305 ever since I was a kid, and I finally got the chance to ride it last year, it’s my number 1 coaster now. It’s the first roller coaster that I’ve ever grayed out on, I figured out on that day that everything I thought might be a gray out before, was not really a gray out, I only managed to resist it on my one ride in the front row! I could go on about how much I love I305 for hours, like I consider that front row ride at sunset to be the greatest moment of my entire life! I would trade Orion for it in a heartbeat, cuz it’s just way too far away, the only reason I even got out there in the first place was cuz I flew to Pennsylvania to ride Wildcat’s Revenge, which was closed down for both days I was there, so I drove down to Kings Dominion to lighten that devastation. As much as it pains me to say I’m glad WCR was closed, cuz if it wasn’t I would’ve just went home satisfied and probably wouldn’t have even thought of going to Kings Dominion, it’s almost like fate lured me into riding Intimidator 305!
rode it for the first time yesterday and I greyed out. I enjoyed it A LOT. My boyfriend greyed out too and he's an even bigger coaster enthusiast than me. He said it's his favorite coaster now and we visit cedar point weekly
Remember riding when it first opened. That first bank turn after the drop had everyone complaining their vision went dark and felt dizzy after. I loved it while my friends all said never again lol, good times
Hi Taylor, first I must say that I am a huge fan because this channel and Koaster Kids is what really got me into roller coasters and over my fear of them. I very very recently rode I305, Project 305 for the first time and while I must say that that was probably the most intense coaster I have ever ridden (given I have only been to Busch Gardens most of my life, KD a couple times, and I had to opportunity to visit SF Great America this summer). The INTENSITY of this ride was the most overwhelming. This is definitely one of my favorite coasters of all time, currently it is behind Pantheon, which is absolutely amazing and Twisted Timbers another phenominal coaster for which I have never experienced that much airtime ever. While I don't think I305 is rough I definitely thought that it had a bit of a rattle or a shake to it going into that first turn, maybe because of the speed. And those trim brakes really did slow down the ride. Going into that huge airtime hill, I actually got a mix of floater and ejector, I was towards the back row but not in the very back. I would definitely love to meet you someday because we are in the same area and have the same home parks.
I remember riding this ride 10 times in a row without getting out of my seat when I was younger. Seeing this video makes me want to get passes again. Also, your tip about leaning into the transitions to make them more comfortable is a great one.
Intimidator 305 was my FIRST big coaster! I grew up going to Six Flags America but actually ended up going to Kings Dominion the year I was tall enough for big rides! & MAN IT WAS ONE HECK OF AN EXPERIENCE 😅 Going around the first turn it felt like my eyes were being pulled out of my head (for anyone who hasn’t rides this before you probably think that’s an exaggeration, but I promise you it’s not 😂) Those low to the ground turns are nothing short of life changing. You will never experience lateral G-Forces like that unless you get in a side vehicle collision. To top it all off it does it without being rough at all. Your body doesn’t bang against the restraints, it’s not bumpy, it just glides and twists!!! 😊
I rode this for the first time two summers ago and ever since then I have had an obsession with rollercoasters. I go on every single one that I can and they are a huge hobby of mine now. No matter how many times I have been on this, "Gentlemen, start your engines!" gives me butterflies every time.
I’ve been on more than 1000 different roller coasters and I305 just plays in its own league when it comes to forces and intensity. I just love it, something you can not experience anywhere else.
I got my 1st rides this past summer & it immediately jumped into my top 10! 4 back to back rides & grayed out on the 1st turn every time (I'm almost 60 and no coaster has ever done that to me). If it hadn't been for my wife not riding & my daughter not tall enough to ride, i probably would have rode it 30 times 😆 I love it!
I'm a bit younger only in my early 50 isch, and also done it for the first time last year and man i have had the same experience never happened to me so much in any other coaster. Only lech coaster gave me gray outs on a regulair basis but they aren't on the same level of this beast.
Born and raised here in the RVA. I was @ KD the day this opened and was lucky enough to ride it before the trim brakes were put in and before they changed the track up. It was an absolute adrenaline rush!!! I've only been up in the very front a couple times due to the ridiculous line for it, but I still have a blast on it no matter what!!!
My favorite coaster, love the speed and smoothness. This past year is the first ride after years of visiting that I felt the haziness of the first curve. This is only coaster that I have ridden that I was aware of them using water on the wheels in the station to cool them down.
My favorite Intamin Giga coaster!!!!! You perfectly described how it differs from Velocicoaster, (newer coasters) I305 hugs every curve and the speed is insane. This is LEGENDARY agree!!!
Accurate description! I rode i305 shortly after it first opened. It had the original low-to-the-ground first turn and trim brakes installed on the first drop -- I don't recall them doing anything though. I grayed out and got the tunnel vision effect from the first turn. Most intense ride I've ever been on. The headache it left with me with made i305 a one and done. I'll happily ride Velocicoaster and Wildcat over and over again, but i306 is too much for me.
This video makes me feel better. This is the first and only coaster that legit made me black out, and i've been on kingda ka. I thought I was just at the point where coasters were no longer for me. It is super smoothe, but that first turn definitely hit me hard.
If you’re watching this, haven’t ridden this ride yet, and now want to, PLEASE TAKE HIS ADVICE. Eat well, drink a TON of water (Virginia summers can be brutal), and for the love of god make sure to keep breathing on the first drop. Don’t hold your breath for the first ten seconds or so of the ride or you will almost guaranteed black out. It’s an amazing ride but like he said very intense
I was 24 years old when I rode my first proper rollercoaster, and it was Intimidator at Carowinds. It was the last week the park was open for 'Scarowinds' and there were pretty much no lines for any of the coasters, so I got to ride every single rollercoaster in the park at least twice. I ended up regretting that though; I had vertigo for 3 days afterwards!
This thing is A FRIKKEN MAZING!!! I have rode this coaster 8 times in 1 day. I'm that rider that was ready to go again. And it pretty much just opened. Very worth the wait, EVERYTIME!
I finally rode this a few days ago and it instantly took my number 3 spot, behind Top Thrill 2 and Fury 325. Pro tip for those who don't want to grey out: tense ever muscle in your body on the way down the drop. That'll keep the blood in your head through the turn. And get ready for a really nice ejector pop over the first hill
Big roller coaster person. I’ve never liked a roller coaster so much that I literally cried tears of sheer joy upon pulling into the station. I-305 changed that when I rode it for the first time. My wife immediately made fun of me for it.
Didn’t know what to expect from this when I first rode it last year. Now I’m grateful for it only being three hours from where I live now. Hoping to get plenty of rides on it this year. Easily in my top 5
Rode it opening year and it was insane. I can absolutely lap this thing and have gotten a few night time zen rides over the years. My only issue with it is it desperately needs a paint job this is one of my favorite rides but completely understand why the GP is not a fan. back right is my preferred seat.
Once rode it 9 times in one visit which I definitely felt after I was done. As far as air time maybe I’m shaped differently so I fit in the seat and restraints differently but I get airtime on the way down where I’m thrown in to the shoulder harness and also get airtime in the next 2 hills. The third hill with the trims you’re right I’m not sure what it would be like without them.
The blackouts are crazy I just rode it last August and I rode it twice in a row which caused me to blackout but you don’t have to be insanely dehydrated or hungry to cause a blackout
Rode this last year with my 50-year old dad, we lapped it 4 times for a total of 5 rides, we both absolutely loved it, and it was unique compared to the other 2 gigas on our trip (Orion an F325) because it was different than anything we had ever rode before (and I've been on Maverick several times)
Just rode it yesterday. Top 3 out of the 80ish rides I've been on. So amazing. Completely grayed out the second ride and my vision was pulsing black the first ride
This has been my number 1 bucket list coaster ever since it opened. I finally got the opportunity to ride it in August and it was well worth the wait. I only got 1 ride but I was in the front row. It immediately took my #1 spot out of 157 credits. It’s ridiculous
My dad took us to Kings Dominion when we were teenagers, I’m 66 now. His lv of roller coasters spread to us. I was in my late fifties early sixties when I rode the 305 and loved it even with the white out. Other riders told me how to breath so I wouldn’t white out. I got in maybe 6 or 8 rides before they closed the park because of a thunderstorm. The front seat is the best. ⚔️🗿
Ive been riding Intinidator 305 for probably 5-6 years now and Its my favorite ride in the whole park I definetly give it a 10-10 scoring, that first turn always gives me tunnel vision, and I love it because thats the point of the ride, this ride is not your average fun and games, you have to be scared and cautious, about it riding it, I think nothing of it and just ride it, because its my favorite ride and I’m disciplined enough to unlike everyone I see are like get me off I just look and say well your about to miss a great experince, so ride it now not later.🔥🔥👍👍
I'm 30 years old. This roller coaster, to this day, is the only one that has ever made me lose my vision, but that was before the track re-work at the bottom of the hill.
I've always loved this coaster and have ridden it multiple times in a row. I always pick the back car. The grey outs are so memorable but I've never passed out fully on it.
As a person from Virginia, KD back in the Paramount Days was always a treat. Moved to Maryland near Six Flags America and actually worked there as a ride operator, I appreciate "Flagship Coasters" and this coaster was a big deal for the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area. As a thrill junky Ive been on I305 multiple times and only noticed the grey/blackout affect a few times. Not sure if it my built up experience on Superman Ride of Steel (205 Feet, 73 MPH) at 6 Flags mad I305 less lethal for me but... I througly enjoy this roller coaster ever time I visit KD
I remember my first time riding this one, I totally lost vision for a couple seconds after the big drop and it's still one of my favorite coaster experiences ever. Waited in line for the front car like 2 or 3 times last time I went.
Being a coaster enthusiast for a few years, most new coasters I ride don’t make me nervous (X2 being one of them). That being said, this is one of a few rides out there that would make me pretty darn nervous before riding. It looks incredible!
I road this with my sister last year. the first time I road it I didn't really gray out but the second time my vision got fuzzy and I kind of felt light-headed until we unbanked.
Best roller coaster I’ve ever ridden. I’ve ride this 9 times in a row once and experienced greying out on number 5 and number 8 with the 8th being more intense but it didn’t stop me from riding.
I rode this back in 2018 and it’s been in my top 10 since then. That first banked turn might be my favorite element I’ve ever experienced on any coaster ever, and my current count is 378.
I love this coaster. My daughter and I would ride this over and over. Volcano was still my favorite coaster at KD though. I miss it. But I305…..great coaster. The camera takes your photo towards the end of the ride, make sure you smile.
KD is my home park as well. One thing I would emphasize is this: INTENSE does not mean ROUGH. This coaster is super-smooth. It doesn't bang you around. But it does subject you to some of the most extreme G-forces available on a coaster. It's my all-time #1.
Fury325 at Carowinds is my #1 but before that it was this bad boy.
Agreed. This coaster is terrifying and intense yet very smooth
rough was drachen fire at BG lol... we used to marathon that thing
I remember going on my 17th birthday and almost actually crying cause I was so freaked out to go on it - after getting convinced, I rode that thing 5 times in a row
@@tonydragon784 lmao/ Bro I was grown when i rode it for the first time and i almost cried too haha. It's so fun. a great coaster.
I was one of the first to ride I305, before the re-track and trim brakes..... It was the most amazing thing ever!
Same! first time I experienced grey/blackouts too and still to this day the only ride that does it to me
They took the trims off with the re-track, they’re only in the small airtime hill towards the end now
I loved it but my daughter passed out every time for the first half of that season before the breaks. We were there that first weekend, My daughter and I had our hands up and I watched her arms fall and go completely limp in that first turn.
@@brandonfulcomer2924great times!!
I'm so jealous, since I'll never even have a chance to ride it in it's original form! I mean, it can't be much worse than a Skyscraper, right?
I'm curious whether or not I could take those forces without passing out, but I guess I'll never find out.
When the ride is by far the tallest and fastest in Virginia and it gets a small line just because of the intensity shows how crazy it is.
Yeah, Anaconda is an arrow
Line wasn't small when I went in 8th grade. Took forever
Yes!! The intimidator is so intense there’s never really a line. It’s Awesome
there used to always be a line, now the past several times i’ve gone it’s just been straight up closed😂. it’s a very fun coaster but not nearly as scary as you’d expect bc it’s so quick.
Will never forget riding this on a super hot day (prob dehydrated too) and remember coming to with the restraint seatbelt smacking me in the face 🤣
Amazing
Let's just say it's amazing how Taylor's opinions and filming has evolved!
the channel has come a long ways since the days of filming with an ipod touch!
@@CoasterStudios it's incredible the effort you put into your videos!
@@Ethan_FPV I did that exact thing with my girlfriend last year, I had ridden it before she hadn’t, safe to say she has a new favorite coaster
Yeah, night time riding is my favorite. It's insane. But don't try riding it in a drizzle, that's not fun 😂.
Yea the front is intense. You just creep over 300ft and drop
I think its safe to say this is my #1 bucket list coaster. I live intensity more than anything. Positive Gs and whip.
Yeah you'll love this then. It's basically all that to the max
It's my #2 bucket list coaster, right behind Iron Gwazi
As VA native, I305 was my number 1 until i went to BGT in the summer of 2022 and rode Gwazi. Both amazing
The best I've got like that so far is Goliath at sfmm
Riding this is like....a roller coaster trying to kill you but you escaped lol
They still have that? I haven't been to KD in like 20 years! Flight of Fear was always my fave!
Hugs...it's strange how that can happen at any point...to have on a coaster is special. Thanks for sharing that.
I still must do fury going there in june but i like the intimin better then the B&M at least usually. The one exception are the inverts B&M rules in that one altough if you want a bit more of an relaxed ride the new stc from vekoma isn't that bad either.
You are talking about Carowinds.
It's still an awesome ride, but I'd love to get another chance to experience it and hopefully stay conscious throughout the entire thing 😂😂😂 It's a weird feeling to have the credit but not remember much of it
it was the third roller coaster ive ever ridden on which is why i love it, it gives me the confidence to ride everything else
Flex your legs as hard as you can towards the bottom of the hill and sit closer to the front and you'll be able to reduce the blackout effects
I love the new animations you guys are doing!
I think this is the best coaster review of the channel. Thanks.
Thank you 🙏
Love to hear it!!
Such a well-done video, playlists by coaster name is huge!
I am in that last category, I marathon this ride whenever I go, this is why I like going by myself lmao
Absolutely solo trips are the best 👍🏻
But I will say, the more I ride i305, the more I ‘respect’ it
Also, don’t give Six Flags any Pizza Hut Sponsorship ideas 😂
Haven't done that one but yes that might take the nr 1 spot in intensety till that day this is the one for me in that category. Well at least in intensity weill still being enjoyable.
VA native here love i305. EEjanaika is my #1 bucketlist
I305 is one of those coasters that you really can’t tell what it will feel like through a screen. With KD basically being my home park, I luckily can ride i305 whenever the parks open.
One thing that the videos will never be able to translate is the feeling of those fast snappy turns. You’ll never know what it means for something to be aggressive yet BUTTERY SMOOTH until you try this 😅
im going for spring break should I be scared?
This is my #1. I love it so much.
Intimidated, no pun intended
@@mattraugh8748that’s a fact
Hands down one of my all time favorite rides. I was fortunate enough to be able to marathon it 17 times without getting out of my seat one during ERT for an event. Unforgettable experience.
Last year for my birthday I went with my best friend to KD who had never been before even though she, like me, grew up in VA, and the “GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES” wasn’t working 😭😭 I hyped her up about it too.
Wait, that’s the part you hyped her up about? Out of everything on the coaster, that’s one of the worst things to spotlight
Love this ride a lot. Ride it 286 times last year. Give this ride a 10! 👍
I remember back when the fast pass was unlimited I rode this ride like 5 times within half an hour and started to get lightheaded 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, the first season this was open I was there on a slow day. We could get off and just hop back on in a seat that didn't have a line. I had to stop after about 5 rides in a row, I was really starting to feel it.
i went today 4 times because my vision was greying out, it was one heck of a drop, i love it! 😍😍
still can’t believe this ride opened the exact same day i was born. this is probably my #1 bucket list coaster because of this and just seeing this makes me excited
Gwazi better
@@MrMarty650 ok that’s like, your opinion man.

@@MrMarty650 ok brah that’s like your opinion and I haven’t ridden that
It's a perfect 10/10 for me, and neck and neck with Velocicoaster for my favorite Intamin.
We’ve been sporadically updating old park and coaster reviews the past few years and I think the quality on them has definitely improved!
I love roller coasters that challenge my perception of what a roller coaster is capable of doing. There is nothing else on earth like I305. When it's running in peak form, it's my favorite coaster on the planet.
The best coaster ever built!
Great job !
Opened in April 2010
im from VA, thanks for showing the I35 some love. i have allways loved rollercoasters and seeked out the newest and best.
Also this was the last (lift hill) giga credit I needed, it’s crazy to think I rode Steel Dragon 2000 before riding this 😅
rode it for the first time yesterday and I greyed out.
& MAN IT WAS ONE HECK OF AN EXPERIENCE 😅
Going around the first turn it felt like my eyes were being pulled out of my head (for anyone who hasn’t rides this before you probably think that’s an exaggeration, but I promise you it’s not 😂)
Those low to the ground turns are nothing short of life changing. You will never experience lateral G-Forces like that unless you get in a side vehicle collision.
To top it all off it does it without being rough at all. Your body doesn’t bang against the restraints, it’s not bumpy, it just glides and twists!!! 😊
This is now on my dream coasters bucket list!
@@arturobianco848 You are absolutely right....a beast! Cheers Arturo
Went on this last year. Loved it. I think I can handle pretty much anything if im strapped in secure.
I love thos ride! You cant even feel the G Forces, its so smooth and the turns are perfect
That damn turn after the hill is what gets me everytime
Rode this for the first time last summer and loved it. Ended up going on it 5 or 6 times that day. Can't wait to do it again this year!
It’s just an amazing creation and glad it exists!! Pure intensity!!!! Nothing like it!! Got to love International Amusement Installations!!!
My home park! Please don't let us down after we lost volcano. The wing coaster must be good. The 305 put our park on the map.🎉
This has been my number 1 bucket list coaster ever since it opened. I finally got the opportunity to ride it in August and it was well worth the wait. I only got 1 ride but I was in the front row. It immediately took my #1 spot out of 157 credits. It’s ridiculous
Loved the gray-out and black-out editing.
