    Nice explanation, thank you. It hadn't clicked for me that all those things were in a hierarchy: MIDI Port -> MIDI Channels -> MIDI CCs. The Inception analogy was a cool way to reinforce it. Thanks!

      Pretty much lol love it. When it comes to time syncing a midi controller generally does have a time functionally so the different channels stay on time with each other relative to the native or source tempo. but they do jam down their own signal paths communicating back and forth 💪

    There are a few handsful of standard CCs and up to 127 custom ones in total. Some of the CCs can be combined to create a longer message, an NRPN or others, which will spew out 4 controlers in the event list. They affect one channel. But the bandwidth of the cable is limited by the number of messages in total. The channel number is just a 4 bit identifier attached to each message. It's not like the cable is carved into 16 portions. When then cable is "full" the messages become a bit lagged.

    Can I connect my music controllers together through 5 pin and then one through usb midi to my daw and be able to control both through daw

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      That’s a great question which is also dependent on the functionality of your midi controllers. If you set one controller to one channel and the other to another, you should in essence be able to use both. If your usb connection is port 1 for example, you can utilize port 1 channel 1 for one controller and port 1 channel 2 for the other. This will, however, depend upon your midi controllers, their features, and functionality.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      I would peruse through the settings on your controllers, and/or user manuals to see what kind of settings are available for serial connections (running 5 pin from one controller to the next).

    @squadronbe6140 2 роки тому +1

    So does "device" relate to port number?

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому +2

      Your midi out, or your midi in that you connect your midi cable to are midi ports. In a virtual sense though your midi port is a number assigned to your “device” that represents this midi cable. So if you assigned a device to output 1 in your daw or other software, and then the input of whatever plug-in or instrument you wanted your device to effect to port 1 as well. Your device would send information directly and continuously to that plug-in/instrument via port 1. Which would be your virtual midi cable in your software or daw.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  2 роки тому +2

      So a port is really just a pathway of communication between your device and other devices whether virtual or physical. If you have multiple physical outs and ins on your device you have multiple ports and in the virtual world the amount of ports available to be assigned are almost limitless.

    Will my Technics AX7 work with FL studio?

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      If it has a midi output, then I don't see why not. I would check the user manual. I googled it and saw its a synth, not just a midi controller. If it doesn't support midi output, then you would probably need to record your AX7 like any other instrument via an instrument cable.

    • @ScaleAudio
      @ScaleAudio  Рік тому

      @@sanderromer6490 If you are trying to record to piano roll in FL Studio, and then later have that midi information in the piano roll control your ax7, you should be able to do that (I've never tried myself). Your ax7 needs to support midi input. You should use USB or if you are using midi, use a device such as an audio interface that has a midi output to send the signal to your ax7. If using midi you will need to go from the aforementioned midi out to the midi input of your ax7(if it has one). If using USB, the USB should be able to act as both your input and output. Once you have things configured physically you will need to configure the rest digitally. You will need to go to the output section of your midi settings in FL Studio and set an output port for your ax7. You will then need to configure your ax7 itself to accept the midi input (you will probably need to check your user manual). After all that is setup, open an instance of the Midi Out plugin in FL Studio, set the port to match the port of your ax7, and you should be good to go.

      @@mbproductiondz7674 Gotchya. There is an unbalanced L/R audio output on the back. If you have not done so already, you will need to run the L/R audio output to an interface to record. If you want to record drums and instruments simultaneously you may be able to output the drums to the headphones and instruments to the output. Then you could take audio from the headphones and run that to a second input on the interface. However, I highly doubt that splitting your audio will be possible as described above. You will most likely need to record the drums and instruments separately and at different times. I wish I could be more helpful however I do not have any experience with Korgs.

    It's got a lot of knobs and buttons. For real.... Lol
    I don't understand how to organize it all, which I would rather do first. Instead of just going at it and having to change so many things later on because I learned something new and it completely destroys my vision of mapping everything...lol

The cool thing Is that it all comes pre-programmed pretty efficiently most of the time. so you only really have to worry about the fl studio side unless you're having specific problems. The keystation pro manual should have info on how to change the CC# of specific controls. Did you ever get to try and check the automation section in kontakt when you have symphony series open?
