- Join me and Charlotte as we visit the spectacular Carters Steam Fair as it made it's way to Beacon Park in Lichfield. This classic vintage fairground was founded in 1977 by John Carter and is now operated by the second generation at Carters.
The fair has a number of classic fairground attractions and transportation vehicles that regularly travel around the UK. In this video we ride on many of these fantastic attractions that are still operating very well to this day. We share a combination of both on and off ride footage along with showing some of the transportation vehicles used across the fair.

Charlotte's hair is beautiful here. What a stunning fair! Beautiful traditional rides, 1950's music and even the caravans are older traditional! Amazing!

This is one of if not the best classic carnival I've seen. Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. The sheer feel of this place is so incredible. The artwork is gorgeous.

Thanks for covering a travelling fair. Many of times as a kid I came home with a goldfish in a bag. It's where it all started with the love of thrill rides. You used to rely on the travelling fair to visit locally, to got with your friends, especially at night time with the music and lights. I miss the opportunity to go on the Dive Bombers or Egg Cages. I would visit just to go on these two rides alone. You don't see them much anymore (sad). Remember the Barrel Of Fun also, that was a hazard to stay on your feet! Also the Swinging Gym (managed to get that over the top once with a friend)!

If I was a millionaire I'd by my dad a steam train and myself a waltzer, a carousel (gallopers) and a fairground organ called Neptunus .
Many happy memories spent at steam fairs as a kid cleaning the engines.

Have not been to Carters for a while now, but good to see the rides are still in excellent condition there. Carters is a lovely fair to visit.

I love the old timey fairground music on the swinging ship, and the oldies music throughout the fair. Very nostalgic.
Puts some of our modern fairs to shame. There was one in Leamington a week or so back that looked really shabby

Brings me back to my childhood loved the spectrum skid and the old dive bomber and the 50s and 60s music octopus never spun round like the waltzers used to make my skid car go mega fast

Hi Shawn and Charlotte, hope you guys are doing well, Charlotte really suits her hair brown, i really hope she keeps it that way, anyway enough about hair, i was down at Blackpool from Friday until Monday, and absolutely loved it, done Icon numerous times, what an amazing ride, and because we had a rainy day, we got a free pass for yesterday, so we enjoyed that before we came back to Glasgow yesterday, and now we are already booked up to come back down in October, yayyyyyyyyyy, from Jill x

Thank you! Years ago when I was a teenager, I went to a steam fair and my cousin and I went on the steam yacht over and over. The ride operator was absolutely hilarious. But I had forgotten what it actually was - now I know (and I assume it was Carter's Steam Fair, too!) So lovely to see it here and see it is still as bonkers as it was then :-)
And I meant to add - Charlotte's hair looks lovely!
Really enjoyed it mate, sadly missed you by a few mins we came back on the fair in the early evening after a rest at our hotel then went into town for some food then came back to the fair at dusk wold have been good to say hello - Andrew McK

I love the octopus, one of my favourite rides of my childhood. Nice to see a well maintained real fair, think the "Tempest" no longer exists in the UK, another all time favourite.
Glad you covered the good old classics.
@puck slapper The Tempest was far more enjoyable than most of today's flat rides, keep them maintained, as it would be sad to see them disappear completely
Dive bomber was my favourite awesome ride .
What a gorgeous looking fair. The old style wagons parked around it really does it. And of course the teaming of the rides and attractions :)
Charlotte got the right idea a bout Flat rides. Not a big fan of them myself. Dont mind the spinning around, but its the "sliding" up And down (like the boat swings).

Hoping to get to Carters in Basingstoke in September! You should come down to Liphook, place called Hollycombe steam in the country! Has the worlds first haunted house and Edwardian rides such as the Razzle Dazzle! I have a couple of vlogs from it.

The Dive Bomber is not with the fair because it is up for sale at the moment. If you go onto Carters Steam Fair Website it is up for sale there. Here is part of the advert by Carters that I have copied to paste. "THE VICTORY DIVE BOMBER
The Divebomber is currently FOR SALE
This is a great business opportunity for somebody, with a tenancy available on Carters Steam Fair. You will need an appropriate vehicle to move the ride (fifth wheel artic unit) and your own generator (full HGV license is required to drive such a load). You will also require somewhere to store it in the winter. The ride takes about 2-3 hours to build up with two people and half as long to pull down".
Hopefully they will find a buyer soon and get it running again. Another good Vlog Sean. I really enjoyed it.

Love this fair! The rockets are our favourite. The swinging boat thing is terrifying as there's nothing holding you in you just wrap your arms round then back of your seat 😟 the ghost train is a good laugh I recall getting sprayed right in the face last time 😂. They have the dive bomber at the Cobham one we go to but I've never been brave enough 😅
That was really good Shawn, takes me back to my childhood and going to Clarence pier in Southsea, before they ruined it by building a hotel and getting rid of half of the fairground, it’s now quite small.

Was there on the Saturday afternoon. Loved the swinging boat ride a pirate ship with no lap bars. Went on the end for maximum air time.

The Octopus ride should have been a part of the Vintage Pack for Planet Coaster, or at least in the next update.
I have been on a ride the same as Columbia at Hollycome steam fair called the high flyer and I really enjoyed it

This fair was at Womad festival a few years ago. They have a great Waltzer, a ride called Octopus and a turning aeroplane type ride that that are worth checking out.
