This park is like you said: fun for a few days with your family. Themepark rides, the waterslides, a beach day and a day in Den Haag city. I've done this twice and it was a lot of fun!
Great to see Martin and Leah on the channel again. That ride in the trees wow looked very god. Getting catapulted over that disgusting looking green water. The park does look stunning tho specially the many trees around the park. The mini train looks pretty fun well especially friends having fun.
58:43 haha the traffic lights aren't broken. You're supposed to brake and wait till the light turns green :) Also, the rodelbaan used to be a lót faster back in the day.. (25+ years ago) I actually crashed out of a corner when I was young. That was during summer, so maybe it's faster when the temperature is higher.
If you ever return to duinrell, use your coats to go down the slides rather than the mats provided. Everyone was doing it on our last visit & you really zip down! It’s also great to stay onsite, there is a separate entrance for guests and the tiki pool is fantastic! Great vlog
I am 15 from Britain and my family have been to Duinrell 9 times since i was 3 and it is really good for families especially us as we stay in the caravans they have there for at least a week.
Used to go to Duinrell when I was younger and stayed at the campsite for a few days. You get the park for free and also 2 hours every day free at the water park (don't know if it still so). I always loved the ambience at Duinrell, it was very laid-back and is sure a good time with a couple of friends. Also the sea is close by and Rotterdam and Den Haag (the Hague) easy to excess. A fun little park. Thanks for the nice upload Shawn and greetings! (looking forward on your blog from Toverland. The new area is beautiful..)
Hilarious that you forgot to put your lapbar down on the second ride of Katapult and came flying out of the boat! Could hear the waver in your voice as you realised! 😂
I've been on every roller coaster and overall it is an amazing experience going to the pub or having a barbeque can always have a nice ending to each day! I would go to the ice cream shop as it's delicious
The kikker achtbaan was my first rollercoaster ever, I remember it sometimes rolled back into the station, after it didn't reach the top of the lifthill. And a lot of times we all yelled ''NOG EEN KEER'', which means one more round, and than the operator would add another round or sometimes even add two or three rounds. My childhoooooood
I've had so much fun watching this video! Love u guys! Charlotte going verry Slow off the slide and Shawn getting green at the katapult. Lol😄 I'm a Dutch fan off your channel and too bad that Martin didn't remember the Dutch words he learned 🤐 hopefully he will Let us hear it at the vlogs at toverland or wildlands!
I waited so long for this! I am also happy you have chosen to take the day and not do 2 parks in one day! All the times i have been to Duinrell Falcon has never broken down and Gold Rush is a nice exception for a Gerstlauer thrill ride. Would have been better if you could have done both sides of the bobsled its a decent ride. But this year it was alot slower then before last year you would really get up the banks. Also the traffic lights are just traffic lights nothing more.
@1:00:00 Ever heard of dunehills? Duin in Duinrell means dune, it is at genuine dune territory. People don't always realise that's a desert landscape and deserts have hills. Natural protection against the North Sea. Think riverbanks, but for sea instead. We don't have rockcoasts in the Netherlands. We're one big riverdelta basicly.
I was hoping you did the waterpark together with the park itself. I did them in one day and it was a packed day full of fun. It's the combi of these 2 that makes it special in my books. Btw, the hill is there because it's almost in the dunes. I've researched it with school and you are not that far from the sea. I actually got dizzy and almost fell off my bed watching you ride the wild wings. Also, did you take a look at the board located at the exit that tells you the amount of spins you did? Mabey you beat the record. My guess is that that kid is doing this as an internship in elementary school. In the last year of that school (age 12) we do an internship to get to know what jobs are like. Usually we don't do anything usefull and its mostly for fun.
Katapult is a type of ride which is called "Nautic Jet" and is manufactured by a company called Sunkid Heege. You can find them all over the place here in Germany, especially in smaller parks. It's kinda funny how you're crazy about this thing :D
If you want a faster rodelbaan there's a nice big one in Valkenburg, a city in the very southeast end of the country. They also got an awesome lasergame area inside some caves, and other entertainment options.
1:04:33 you can see the station of the batflyer. A rollercoaster that was SBNO because it was first to slow, and then to intense. In early 2002 the roller coaster was taken down and bought by a junk yard. You can find some of the theming (bats) in the tikibad, and ofcourse the station with the electronics of the old never been used coaster. La place is a restaurant and since a few weeks there is one in the Efteling.
The Dodge ems at Wild Waves here in the Seattle, Washington area are the same as BumbperFrogs where the electricity is conducted through the floor. When I first saw them I thought they were kind of odd as I'm used to the ones with the poles as well.
I've been to Duinrell a couple of times before Shawn! My favourite ride there is the Falcon. So far, this is the only theme park that I've been to abroad.
Haha, lol. "There's a hill in the Netherlands, where did that come from?" We do have hills, just no mountains. We also have some hills on "The Veluwe" in the forests as well as around Utrecht and many other areas. The hills are never very high though. So much fun to you guys here in our country! And Martin, "vlot" does indeed mean "raft", well done! :)
Been going there for years, fantastic park, the Dutch brilliant and the kids love it. A proper family park. The pool and flumes are the best. And it’s algae in the water great for the wildlife. You should have waited for the uncovered flume there is an option.
30:50 that tower ride pulls kids up to the top and tells them that babies don't come from storks. Basically encouraging kids to have an awkward talk with parents that night.
@40:46 La Place - a French name, pronounced La Plahs - is a Dutch restaurant chain with more than 80 restaurants in the Netherlands, more in the rest of Europe and even some in the United States. Originally I'm pretty sure it was owned (and founded) by Vroom & Dreesman, nowadays the Dutch company is owned by the Jumbo holding, the same holding that owns the Jumbo supermarkets, which you've been to. 43:40 I'm not to sure either, he says he's a beetle that has stung. Well, maybe beetles can sting, but I didn't realise some of them could?
So the thing with Duinrell is, that it is very difficult for them to build new rides, as they are not allowed to build high attractions above the tree line. When they want to it costs them a hell lot of money because the local government is trying to protect their people living around the park
Also because of the strict rules all the rides can't be an eyesore. That's why all the rides are brownish. Don't want to upset the (very wealthy) neighbours !
Funnily enough, when I was here, I was in a period that... I think I was depressed. My company had its year meeting here and I just walked into the dunes with a local who'd seen the park many, many times. I just wanted to move back to where I live now at the time. #homesick. I'm fairly sure I could live back to where I lived when I was working at the company now. I guess what advice I want to give to people reading this: when you're done studying and working, don't miss your time at uni. It will take a while, but you'll get over it. Hang on in there. Eventually everything will be fine. That's the advice I'd give myself back then. So yeah...
Oh my gosh i laughed a lot with this vlog. It is so much fun to see you guys have fun...Duinrell is not a park for me tho but i guess it is fun for small kids and a lot cheaper than the Efteling. Thank you for yet again a great vlog.
LoL i clicked like on the video 3 hours ago, and now first got around the watch it.. Oh well. It goes well with a few mugs of hot tea :D What a weird funny park. Must be great for kids. Katapult is awesome. Seen some in other vlogs. All parks should have one of those. Preferable a tad bigger :P Love how you guys always makes the most of your visits. Not much complaining and having your own fun (like on the mini trein)
Are you going back to duinrell?!!! Would love to see an updated version, I go there every year and they have made great upgrades (Make sure to check out the Tiki Bad Aswell)
As somebody born and raised in California, I thought that this park was boring, at first. But, as I watched the video, I've come to realize, the picturesque nature of the park is worth the trip alone! Because I grew up going to Cali parks, outside of Disneyland, picturesque parks are not our thing! LOL!
Basically dunes occur naturally, and then of course the clever people came in and realised you can enhance that, just by doing some good gardening really. Just make sure trees and plants and grasses can grow on a dune, to strengthen the sand, and hey presto, you got yourself a nice little barrier against the sea, and you can stop worrying about it being blown away in the first half-decent storm.
Well, in a true hurricane, I'm guessing we're pretty much screwed. Not much you can do about that, when a lot of your country is at or below sea level. Mind you, we're doing our best. The Delta-works, built after our last great flood in 1953 are doing a pretty good job in defending the most vulnerable areas from extreme weather conditions. It's a series of dams and flood barriers, consisting of some of the biggest waterdefenses in the world, and something we're taught in school to be proud of. I've actually worked for the Delta-committee in recent years, and they're now mostly dealing with how we'll deal with rising sea levels because of global warming. So, yeah, we're always under threat from the water, but we're always looking for ways of preventing disaster.
I loved when martin used the drop tower thing I loved when martin pretended to be the staff operate!! I laughed so much and I'm gonna say To my dad can we go there the year after!!!
my fav park ive been there every year since i was two {im now fourteen} and i cant go now due to covid such a shame im excited to go back next year the staff are so friendly and i love it so so so much highly reccommend
La place is a regular food chain thats usually found inside city centres and such, Efteling also has a La place restaurant near the entrance of the park now! And yes vlot means raft :)
I was wondering what happened with Splash, but they turned it into 'Greenhouse the ride'??. When I was a kid, it was called Splash and it was an open boat, seating 4 or 5 people on one row, can't remember how many people in total. You did get very wet, especially if you would stand in the 'splash zone' which was/is overhead at the end of the drop. At some point they built a glass wall, which you had to stand behind to not get wet; then why have a splash zone ? There also used to be a spider in a spiderweb hanging in the trees next to 'Waterspin', as a bit of theming. Now I realise it was a word pun because spider translates in Dutch as 'spin' and it's a topspin. Tikibad is a waterpark, which you can also visit without going to the park itself. It is worth a visit.
@ Martin: the name Duinrell contains a clue... "duin" is the Dutch word for dune. That hill you see is a dune. The seafront moved away but the old dunes are still there
La Place (it's pronounced French) is a restaurant chain. There's now one in Efteling as well since this year. Used to be part of a chain of department stores, but now its on its own.
There is a theme park in Belgium called Bellewaerde that also has a splash with that “ greenhouse” roof on it, but its way cooler. With the halloween event they make the glass all black so you can’t see anything . It’s scary but its also funny. Greetings from Belgium
The mascot of the park is a frog called "Rick de Kikker" (Rick the Frog), I think that's why the Zierer is called "Kikkerachtbaan". The term "kikkerachtbaan" is however also an informal name for a coaster that is meant for kids, so whether this coaster made that term popular or if it was already an existing term and thus the name I'm not sure. The bobsleds are built on dunes, which are made to protect the Netherlands against the sea due to quite a vast amount of the country lying beneath sea level. You might not realise so in the park, but you're only 3km (2mi) seperate from the sea. BTW; the aqua shute must've had an upgrade with the boat lift, because I remember being little and having to drag them up on the tower.
The water's not dirty, it's just covered in small waterplants. Usually a sign of enough nutrients in the water, but not dirty...
Thanks I’ve always wondered that
If you are dutch this kind of video's are amazing to watch!
Ja he! echt grappig
Thank you for watching!
Funniest vlog to date! Shaun on catapult had me in stitches!
Quote of the trip - "what the hell...." brilliant 😂
Thank you!

That 'E-Stop' at the slides had me creasing up
Go to the very south of the netherlands in the province limburg. There's the hills. Awesome vlog, one of the funniest.
I am 15 from Britain and my family have been to Duinrell 9 times since i was 3 and it is really good for families especially us as we stay in the caravans they have there for at least a week.
My first ever theme park, used to visit every 2 years. Strange as I love about 30 mins away from towers

Thank you for watching and also for sharing all of this information! We’re in Toverland today
thats my night sorted! cant wait to see the rest of your netherlands trip. Love your videos.
Thank you, the next vlog is coming tomorrow
Katapult is made by Heege and they've made quite a lot self operational attractions. Fun to play with :D
That Katapult is hilarious! Worth visiting just for that!
Hilarious that you forgot to put your lapbar down on the second ride of Katapult and came flying out of the boat! Could hear the waver in your voice as you realised! 😂
I love it how you love and enjoy the Katapult ride xD For us in the Netherlands it is so normal to see it, but your reaction is priceless 😂😂
I'm Dutch but I'm used to Efteling, so that katapult ride is definately weird to me as well! Wouldn't want to land in the water there.
Hessel
I've been on every roller coaster and overall it is an amazing experience going to the pub or having a barbeque can always have a nice ending to each day! I would go to the ice cream shop as it's delicious
"Kikker" means "frog", so Kikkerachtbaan means Frog Coaster. :)
Man this is bringing back some memories of my childhood. Stayed here for a few weeks on my very first trip to NL when i was a kid. Good times... xD
Another great Theme Park Worldwide Vlog Shawn Sanbrooke, keep it up mate. Looking forward to the other Vlogs from the 🇳🇱 trip
Loved to see Katapult! Went on this at Potts Park, Minden, Germany in 1985. The weeing boy is a monument that they have in Brussels!
I used to come here on holiday with my family when I was younger and scared of planes it brings back so many memories
Same here XD Good memories
Thanks for sharing your memories from the park
I love you

Spent a week here with my family in August, love it, glad you rate it
ive been here like 10 times. This gives me really good memories!!!!
Omg that flying boat ride haha, was not expecting that lol!
This park is great! The animatronics and fountains are so strange. The Katapult ride looks like a good time! Wish we had one where I live.

Went here about 2 years ago and it was funny to see you ride these rides. I think that Katapult is the best too!
1:03:07 harmonies were pitch perfect Shawn. Reckon you could make it to the west end with that song 😂👍
Just finished our first trip here. The Gerstlauer is still sooooo smooth!
Love the Doggy . The katapult was hilarious how funny 😁😁😁😁Great vlog x
If you want a faster rodelbaan there's a nice big one in Valkenburg, a city in the very southeast end of the country. They also got an awesome lasergame area inside some caves, and other entertainment options.
i used to go to durinell as a child and i’m going back next summer i love it so much !!!
You are great guys! So cool that you don't forget our little tiny country and his viewers! We are small ... but we got the Efteling tho ;)
I love The Netherlands very much!
1:04:33 you can see the station of the batflyer. A rollercoaster that was SBNO because it was first to slow, and then to intense. That slide lol... the dog coming down it was amazing though!
Probably the most banter I’ve seen in one video from you.
Wishing you all the best. Have a great time. Lovely park.
what a unbelievable theme park.
love the way the roller coaster's are in the trees.
🎡🎢🎠
It really does make the park!
I LOVE IT THERE!!! Falcon is my favirute
The hill where the bobsled is based on is actually a dune, in dutch a dune is called a duin, which explains the name "duinrell"
Thanks for the information!
The Dodge ems at Wild Waves here in the Seattle, Washington area are the same as BumbperFrogs where the electricity is conducted through the floor. When I first saw them I thought they were kind of odd as I'm used to the ones with the poles as well.
They are good to see but these were very slow!
Awesome vlog again. Nice to see you in my home country.
28:40 Baron 1898 😂😂 so good. Like your vids alot keep iT up. #AugustCederpoint lookforward to it....
Going there in August, great to get a look around, thanks.
I'm so excited to see what you think about this amazing park
thumbs up for the shear comedic factor of that catapult ride
Catblt
At 29:50 when you asked what the buttons on the mushrooms did as soon as you touched it the UA-cam app crashed 😱😂
On the catapult ride when Charlotte said oh no .🤣🤣🤣
I've been to Duinrell a couple of times before Shawn!

Never seen a dog on a slide that big. 😆 And Charlotte's got another slide cred!
Been going there for years, fantastic park, the Dutch brilliant and the kids love it. A proper family park. The pool and flumes are the best. And it’s algae in the water great for the wildlife. You should have waited for the uncovered flume there is an option.
The water slides are the most fun when I was there. only went on falcon didn't really fancy any of the other rides really

Great vlog. Love all your netherland vlogs from this year ❤
Loved it guys .great vid . Would go just for the catapult
When are you visiting to the tikipool In Duinrell? The waterpark is HUGE! I highly suggest to go there even more then the park
We’d love to at some point!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Are you going there after the COVID rules in the Netherlands?
Excited for these upcoming vlogs!
33:10 that frog is for a playback show, which wasn't playing at the time.

The hill is part of our man-made water defences. The park is called Duinrell, it's build on a dune.
Thanks for the information!
Not really man made, the wind did the real job.
Little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. I originally said it was part of our natural defences, which felt more off than what I went with.
Basically dunes occur naturally, and then of course the clever people came in and realised you can enhance that, just by doing some good gardening really. Definitely looks an interesting park with some interesting rides. Reminds me a bit of Oakwood and Wicksteed Park.
I love this park I’ve came here for the past 15 years
I loved when martin used the drop tower thing I loved when martin pretended to be the staff operate!! I laughed so much and I'm gonna say To my dad can we go there the year after!!!

La Place is actually a restaurant chain all over the country. They just opened a branch in the Efteling aswell.
We found that out after this park visit, thanks for the information!
Cheers! Have fun in the Netherlands guys. Hope the weather gets better!
@ Martin: the name Duinrell contains a clue... "duin" is the Dutch word for dune. That hill you see is a dune. The seafront moved away but the old dunes are still there
This video was fillmed a day before my birthday
I loved this theme park I used to go every year but then COVID stopped me going there hopefully I’ll go soon
Thanks for the information!
Martin operating the drop tower was fantastic 😂
i’m going here on saturday!!! i’m so excited!!!😁😁😁
