I have the 2D minis for the Starter set. The artwork is great, and they're easy to store and use (if you can pop them out of the frame without breaking them or stripping the paint). They're not as cool as 3D minis, but they have their own charm and utility. I'll probably get more.

They rub me the wrong way more because I thought I was getting 3-d so I was a bit crushed to start with. But others have said they do use them.
      Personal taste.
      I just don’t like them.

One thing that I love about these Wizkids 2d minis over other company's sets...is that they are 'official' and come in sets with specific monsters for specific campaigns which is awesome. If you were a new player, getting the D&D starter box, plus the matching pack of 2d minis just sounds really fun to me!
I also think the price on these is very decent at $15 per pack retail.

      Yes that’s a good idea.

The come in sets for specific adventures only applies to some adventures. For Tomb of Annihilation, you need Reptile Den, Snake Den, Boneyard 2, Lich Tomb and possibly others, because they've split the minis for it across multiple Idols sets

I like my HeroForge standees, but they've got a thicker cut of plastic. They're drop proof. These look like they'd shatter.
