Playing DrumWerks Samples (3 snares) in Pearl Mimic Pro module.

- With the new Pearl Mimic Pro software update (version 1.4.18), it is possible to import Third Party samples into Mimic Pro module. There is an editor that we can create new instruments, separating the samples by velocities group and round robins.
This is a quick video showing the playing of 3 snare samples from DrumWerks. They were imported into Pearl Mimic Pro module. DrumWerks have very good samples, but articulations/ velocities are limited in regards of playing in Mimic Pro (they were made thinking on producers, and not Mimic Pro players). However, I am happy with the results. This shows that we don’t need all articulations in order to have good results. This depends of course on what you want to play/record. If you need more articulations and velocities, you have to find samples that were recorded that way.
DrumWerks snare samples are: Head Center (they have a mix of Head Center/ head side / rimshots that I imported in Mimic as Head Center), and Side Sticks. The rimshots are the higher (loudest) velocities, so the harder I play in the snare, the rimshots are triggered. If you want to control this with a softer snare sound, just change that in MIXER - MOD - SNARE - and in RANGE, you can reduce the samples for instance to 90 or 80, and
the higher samples won’t be triggered, so you will have a more controlled snare.
Karaka, essa caixa do Ferrone é demais né 🥁🥁🥁👏👏👏❣️❣️❣️
Wow!! fantastic tech!! so great sounds!
Agreed! Thanks Rupestre!
Really nice strainer reaction on those ghost notes!!!!
Agreed. Thanks for your comment Les!
Wow Tred! Awesome work with these Snares. Sounds really nice. Is PS also working?
Hi Markus, thanks man. PS doesn’t work with these samples because they don’t have all articulations separated by velocities. As I stated, they are a mix of head center / head side / rimshots wav files, so in order to work well, I had to put all of them as “head center” in the Mimic editor. You can see in the video that the result is good, depending on what you want. For most cases it will work well, such as rock/ pop music, but if you need more detailed results, you have to find samples recorded that way, with several articulations at several velocities and round robins each one.
Hi, I keep meaning to ask. Do the ATV rims trigger sounds in the Mimic. Weirdly they don’t on their own module.
I am still trying to decided which module to replace the ATV with. The new positional sensing for the snare on the Pearl has got my attention.
Garry, Mimic is awesome. I wouldnt change this module! I have it for 3 years and I am still in love with it!
Does it rim trigger the ATVs?
@@garrycraig2095 yes! Perfectly. Exception is the wood rim that comes separate of the snare. This is a different tech from ATV.
Yeh I notice many folk replace that with a side trigger. Cheers fella. Keep the vids coming.
Hi Tred, this sounds really awesome 🤩 I think you would do a great favour to the Mimic Community to show how you did all this. For me it is kind of difficult to get the idea how to do it by the description you wrote. Sorry for that. . . . I’ll definitely take a look at drumwerks !!! And you took just the oneshot samples into the editor and created the velocities and roundrobins?? Right? Or did I get you wrong?
Hi, thanks for your comment! The description I made is just a quick note of what I did. The Mimic editor is made for us to separate the samples as we wish. In the case of drumwerks snare samples, they have several (78 if I am not mistaken) wav files that are multilayer samples (in other words, with velocities from quieter to loud). They were not made to Mimic players specifically, so they are a mix of Head center/ snare side/rimshots, so I decided to put all these as Head center articulation in the Mimic editor. I choose how many layers to separate these wav files (10 or 12 will be ok), so for each layer I separated the round robins, that are the samples that are similar in velocities. After that ai tested in Mimic, and I fine tuned (changed the Mimic editor file again) to better responds to my playing - lets say increased the number of velocities layers for instance, or adjusted the layer velocities. I hope it helps! Regards,
@@TredDrums Definately thank you for your explanation. But sorry, I don't get it 🤷♂️ Maybe I'm to dumb or simply my english isn't good enough. Or perhaps both . . .😁😂
Maybe drummers will put out some ready made MimicPro Snares ready to import to the Mimic. . .. .
@@Colognedrummerboy Lol, maybe what is lacking is an understanding of how vst programs for drums are made. Try to find this in internet. If you need some help find me in Mimc Pro facebook group.
