  • I'm trying Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor for the first time. I've heard a lot about these watercolors, that they were opaque, not for beginners, and hard to blend... so I wanted to try them myself!
    I'm painting a watercolor portrait to test some techniques: glazing, blending, layering, dry brush, salt... to see how they behave.
    I bought the 36 sets, with three metallic colors and a white included. You can get it here: amzn.to/3USX3Cx (affiliate link, it won't cost you anything more, but it helps to support the channel.)
    I have written a full article where I review Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors, with pros and cons: cecileyadro.co...

    Patty-I loved watching you use this pallette to recreate that picture. I have all of the Kuretake paints and live them to death. I'm glad that you like and recommend them. 👌🏽

      they are more pigmented than regular watercolor, I think it's why I like them.

    Thank you Cecile. A very good appraisal. I also read your blog. The portraits are lovely. But I do love the fellow with the bread, not really creepy but certainly a lovely painting. Cheers.

    Hiya! I’m a big fan and a longtime subscriber. I’m a watercolour artist primarily but also love to paint with gouache, hence I’m a big fan of yours. Just a little tip for you…Kuretake, although it can sometimes be used like gouache, because it can be quite opaque with small amounts of water, is still a watercolour (albeit has its own personality due to the traditional Japanese binders used). Try not to use your watercolour brushes on the Caran D’ache mixing palette as it’s designed for synthetic brushes and will be too abrasive for a soft watercolour brush, which can be easily damaged on such a rough surface. Just use a smooth palette instead. Ceramic is my fave. Thank you for all that you do for us artists and have a wonderful Christmas ❤

    Tell me, please, what kind of sponge is this? More convenient than just a rag? This portrait is not creepy, but harsh😊

    • @CecileYadro
      @CecileYadro  Рік тому +3

      It's a watercolor sponge, it's absorbing a lot of water, so you don't need a rag, I love it! it's here: amzn.to/3NwhkMn

Ummmm...I have a request, can you do a comparison video of Arteza gouache and Brustro gouache if you have those supplies or ever used them bcuz I really don't want you to buy it for a video........ except for himi Arteza and Brustro none gouache supplies from other brands are available rn in the country I live.....I tried himi and I'm struggling with them tbh and i have no idea about brustro however i know arteza is better than these two but if i go for arteza i havr yo buy 60 paint set bcuz only tgat is available.....so i really hope you do avideo about it or you can just tell me in comments

      Also if you do a video about the uses of gum Arabic that would also be helpful for me and others to understand about this I guess

      I have used Arteza, it's a good quality for the price, but the downside is you have to buy the complete set, and you don't need that much colors. I don't have Brustro gouache, sorry.
