- I finally got my hands on a Kuretake Gansai Tambi Art Nouveau paint set, and in this video swatch it out, do a timelapse painting, and share my thoughts.
I bought the set from Buddly Crafts, online in the UK.

I think this is the fifth review I've seen of this set just because it's gorgeous and I can't get tired of it 😍
I looked at so many while waiting for it to be restocked!!
Oh Thank god I am not the only crazy one doing that, LOL I jump from one review to the next 😀
Beautiful painting. You are the first artist I’ve seen use these the way they were designed to be used. They are not designed to be used like regular watercolor. The pans were made for large Asian style brushes. 👍 ❤❤
Thank you!
Love that combination of colours! Very lucky you had thought to have that as an exception to your low-buy! Your painting is lovely ❤. I had seen someone swatch these before, but didn’t realize they were somewhat gouache-like… that’s very interesting!
I’m glad you mentioned how shallow the pans are, definitely something to consider at the end of my low-buy.
Yes, no chance I was going to miss out on these when they came back into stock!
When I put leaf details on top of the under layers, this paint was totally opaque - very like gouache. It doesn't cope well with doing that on thick under layers though.
I'm so glad to know that Kuretake Art Nouveau is back in stock ! Thank you for letting me know, I'll order it now. The colors are really beautiful. 😃
This is an older video, but they are in stock again on Amazon at least, I think still on back order with Buddly Crafts though.
Thanks for this demonstration. Yours is such a wonderful talent!
That's very kind of you, thank you!
I really like the Kuretake paint! I have the 48 pan set & ordered the Art Nouveau set due today. I have read where some people complain that the pans are not filled to the top, BUT in my humble opinion, they are full enough as they are so rich and you really don't need alot on the pigment on your brush AND it goes a long way. Thank you for show casing these paints!
Ooo - I think you'll love getting these new ones then!! I did reach the bottom of the pans with one painting and was slightly surprised, but it's just getting used to the fact they are so much wider - still tonnes of paint! It's just a different system when people are used to standard pans.
Those colours are so gorgeous. I can't stop looking at them.
Beautiful aren't they?!
This set is simply stunning!! Thank you for previewing it for us all!
Thank you!
Just ordered!
These colors are stunning.
The most beautiful colours 😍
I’ve been seeing this palette everywhere, it looks gorgeous 😍
I know - I totally jumped on the bandwagon!
As soon as I saw this set I searched and searched until I found 1 available at an online store I cannot seem to remember. Was thrilled when I received and they truly are wonderful paints. I know this is monochromatic but here is my 1st with this set…photo to follow
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thanks!
Just lovely! ❤️
Thanks!
Just love you piece!👏
Thank you!!
So excited for you! I purchased the same two sets….the colors are so nice and the paint is lovely to work with. It’s an interesting medium that is very versatile.💕
Thank you!!
Fabulous. Beautiful colours. Loving the box.....xx
Hiya Debbie! Yep, lovely!!
I love the Kuretake paints and your artwork and use of colors is fabulous 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thank you so much!!
love your video ❤🎉
love this color ❤
Thank you!!
What a lovely drawing. I like the color palette.
Thank you!!
Love your perfect circles.❤😊
Thanks! ☺️
Beautiful 😊
Thank you!
I have the full set of kerutake Gamsai Tambi with the starry nights and the jewel colours and I love them. The pans look deceptively empty but go a very long way even when used thicker as in gouache. I also love the fact they need little to no effort for activating them. Loved your video and a look at the new colours, not a pastel fan and the scarlet in your seasonal set I don’t think was a pastel. I loved the fact that in your swatches they looked graduating. Thank you so much for your thorough first impressions. Much love & *virtual hugs* xxx
Thanks so much! It's good to hear your thoughts!
😍
Great share. 😊😊
Thanks!
So beautiful n relaxing to watch, the colours are gorgeous n so pigmented. Waiting to get my hands on the art nouveau set but being in South Africa, the shipping is almost as much as the cost.
Thank you! That's so frustrating!! I'm like that with various American products!
I’ve been looking for this set for weeks! I’m so jelly! 💚. They’re so beautiful!
I've just been back to Buddly Crafts, and seen they've sold out again already - I'm really sorry. I put my name down for the email for when they restocked, and bought it straight away.
@@helencryer I went straight to their site when I saw where you bought them…but not one left. ☹️. I’ll get a set eventually, I hope. 🤞🏼🙂
I do have other gansai tambi sets, but these colors are so soft and pretty. I love the muted colors.
Fingers crossed for you xx
@@helencryer thanks Helen! x
I that one of the little Russian wooden dolls? So cute!
Yes! Thank you!!
Is it just me or is this palette thing trending 🤣 good to see, really enjoy your videos! X
Haha, definitely! Thank you!
So Cute I to am trying to spend less but when I saw that they only had 4 in stock 😮 I didn’t hesitate 😂😂
🤣 Definitely a good enough reason!
Wow what gorgeous colours! But I’m also aware of the power of suggestion/advertising because if the set was simply named “pastels” rather than “art nouveau” I might not be so instantly attracted to them haha. Love your doll too! Very cute!
I'm not sure about this in my case - 'pastels' would appeal to me too! Thanks!
Would love an outline of this
Your painting is lovely! I have been debating about getting these paints for a while now. I really like the art nouveau 24 color pallet. They haven't been in stock in the US, but I just received notice that Simon Says Stamp has them. I'm still undecided. 🤔🙂
It's quite a hard one! It would depend why you want them. If you want to use them like gouache paints and don't already have gouache, then I'd say go for it. If you want to use them as watercolours and don't already have watercolours then go for it. If you already have a decent range of nice watercolours then you don't really need them - I don't think they're as nice as my other watercolours, and you can mix all the colours up yourself (I did a different video on that). But they're a very pretty package and 'thing' to own! I'm glad I have them, just to have tried out Gansai Tambi, but I won't be buying more.
Have just found your video. I've got this set but haven't used it much, I really love the colours but I find that sometimes the paint ends up shiny in sections, maybe that's what they're supposed to do, I don't know 🤷♀️ Wonder if I've used the paint too thickly? But anyway, you've made me want to get my set out again (I've got both sets, the other ones are bright and beautiful too) 😊 Thanks for your easy to watch video 🙌
The thicker areas of my painting are slightly shiny too. I think that's normal for Gansai Tambi.
Thanks for your comment - you've made me want to get mine out again too!
What size silver brushes did you use? I tried zooming in but was blurry. 😂 Loved the painting turned out so cute and the colors are perfect for it!
Hi, sorry about that! I used 8 for the swatching, and 4 for painting.
The box helps too doesnt it 😉
Yep! It's luuuuuurvely!!
what makes watercolors more gouche like?
I know that gouache is opaque because it has larger pigment particle size than watercolour, but I don't know if that's the case with Gansai Tambi. The Gansai Tambi binder is also different, so I don't know if that affects it at all.
What brush are you using please?
I think I used a couple of different brushes. One was a Betty Hayways brush (with the pink end), and for finer details I used a Silver Black Velvet brush.
Hi Helen, have tried to locate these Art Nouveau but failed, I am in the UK, do you know of any stockists selling these, would appreciate your response, x Jen in Reading
Hi, sorry, I'm only aware of Buddly Crafts and Amazon, both of which are out of stock again, till 28th April by the looks of it (for Buddly Crafts). I just went on the Buddly Crafts 'notify me' list last time.
Do you give a copy if the drawing? If so where can I get it?
I don't, sorry!
@@helencryer I am also quite in love with the doll picture and would love to try my hand coloring it following your video since I have the same watercolours. Have you given any thought to tracing it and selling it as a coloring page? I mean if the picture is yours which I am suppossing it it?
