I found your presentation of the colors to be exquisite! They are definitely not watercolors in the sense that if someone purchased them thinking that they will react in the same fashion then they might be disappointed. I personally feel that they would work beautifully as you have done with them. A line and wash type of approach would really show off the array. If they are mixed as traditional wc then it will not work out. Great illustration and look forward to your work.😊

Thank you so much for this video! I had not understood these paints are really more Gansai than Sumi and so can be reactivated. Oh well, they are gorgeous, so I am not sorry I bought them. I am still learning about Japanese media and techniques. If you do Nihonga paintings, I would really be interested in having an explanation of the materials and their use!

I’ve been wanting to do more landscapes. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and THIS is the colour palette here! The smoky, misty purples and greens and blues look just amazing, and the granulation would make for instant texture!

I did find 1 webshop who seem to sell these sort of paints. But ofcourse not exactly this pallete and not for a reasonable price either. So i have to pass. Its not like i really need it 🙈 haha. But it would defenitly fit my 'style' better. When i started painting, i started with oil paint. Have been using that for a few years. I try to learn the watercolor thing. But maybe its just not for me. Cant be good in everything 😆
If you want to give watercolor a proper chance, I'd honestly say to start with artist grade Schmincke or Daniel Smith. They'll be well behaved and won't fail you. Or, if the intensity and opacity attracts you, maybe consider playing with Holbein's Gouache. Have a nice weekend 🤗
