Ford Connect Micro Camper Conversion Altro Flooring Installation

- In this short video I show how I install my Altro flooring in a little Ford Connect van I am converting into a campervan (Links below for items used). I take up the old ply flooring and inspect the van floor first to be sure the flooring is solid. Once inspected, the ply is laid back down, insulated wih UVA foam mats over the ply which give a lovely soft feel. Once the ply is insulated with the UVA foam mats I lay the Altro flooring and cut it to shape around the wheel arches, read and side door. Once the Alfto flooring is cut to shape, I use high temperature spray adhesive to securing the Altro flooring to the UVA insulation on the ply. After the Altro flooring installation is complete, I apply pressure to the ends to fold them over the ply to hide the ply & insulation for a nice neat finish.

The color of the floor covering makes this a nice little camper van for a solo female :)) Thanks!
lovely job, made it look easy, now i've just got to get the Benny hill music out of my head !!,looking forward to the next video .
If only the music wasn't copyrighted.....
Awesome i am so enjoying the connect project it is going to help me alot when i start mine
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 YESS DAVE
Even if it was free, I'd have reservations about putting that color flooring in my camper.
So many people asking where do you get this and that. You could do a video entitled “discover how to find the links in the description”. 😀
So did you screw the ply down in the end? I heard you say you weren’t going to. Is there a chance it might move?
yes screwed it down but tight fit flooring wouldn't move once everything else is fitted
How do you treat the screw holes in the floor? The ply floor in my transit connect has been riveted down and am reluctant to start drilling through into the bottom of the fan for fear of hitting something important. But I want to check it out for rust etc before I start building on it.
Thanks in advance!
Check under the van before drilling through but it should be fine as not much is directly attached to the underside of the floor
I don't understand, why you didn't clean the van inside properly. When you clean it now, the dirty water will ran on the nice new floor!
I've used these mats for years in my workshop as anti fatigue mats when standing in the same spot for hours but never thought of using for the van floor, where do you get them cheaply ? all I seem to see are a bit pricey...
Lots of different designs etc via the link in the description or b&q do 6 pack for £9
Did you drill the ply into the Van?
Is there any particular reason you don't use some sort of edging trim
on the flooring at the doors?
A finishing trim can be added anytime, there were none on the original ply so I had nothing to refit at the time
Neat job as usual :) did you ever try doing these things to a wheelchair accessible mini van? That would be my dream mini/micro camper.
I think you’d need a normal size van for wheelchair accessibility, micro campers wouldn’t have the space
Camper Conversion True, something like the T4 high roof would be perfect.
That or a minibus that already has a wheelchair access ramp already attached, is this something you’re wanting building?
Camper Conversion Yea I would love to build something like that at some point in my life or at least see it being built lol. It isn't quite possible here in Egypt, you can't get new full size vans registered for private use or even as a camper, I only found 1980s GMC and Chevys that has private registration but they are very old and can't be trusted for daily use and their spare parts are rare and expensive.
Right now we own a 2018 wheelchair accessible Chevrolet N300 / move (we just got it and added a ramp) which is a bit larger than your Daihatsu, it's nice and I'm planning on building a foldable bed for it in the back because now it only got the 2 front seats, we removed all the back seats so me and my brother can get in it so a foldable bed would be nice so it can be tucked away while entering the van. A Toyota haice high roof is my dream van for that purpose which is complicated to own like I mentioned above, you have to own a company or have a car dealership shop or a school to own one or for a travel agency.
Keep up the good work :) I love your channel
Love the colour. Where did you get it from?
I got it in a clearance sale, eBay might have similar colours listed
@@TheCampervanBuilder Thanks but I can't see any that colour. I don't need much. Perhaps I could have some of yours? 😊
I used all I had of this at the time, it was an off-cut that just fitted what I needed
@@TheCampervanBuilder I was just kidding love 😊
Hi if I bought a van how much would I get it converted for as I've always dreamed off owning a camper
Are you asking how much I’d charge to covert it or how much it’d cost to do yourself?
@@TheCampervanBuilder how much you would charge
It would all depend on what needed doing, whether parts are supplied or if I’d need to source parts too, timeframe etc. If you want to discuss this, feel free to contact me via the Facebook link on my channel page.
