1:33 To be fair, there are no "console soundtrack remixes"; there's just the Nintendo 64 on which the disk space concerns forced the devs to save the music as midi that uses custom audio samples. In fact, all other console releases have the full soundtrack versions, with voice clips, and the Sega Saturn version even streams its music from the CD as CD audio tracks. 2:03 I believe these original files (including the extended Great Shot) may be using copyrighted samples from movies; those quotes are from "Top Gun", "Apocalypse Now" and "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey", and while Frank insisted they re-recorded all of them, that may be true only for the soundtrack release, not for these early versions hidden in the files. 3:34 "Heartbreak" and "Reaching Out" were actually omitted due to a logic error. To hide them, the game only has "alternate" versions of these tracks, but the game only checks the existence of the files on the "normal" versions, which these ones simply never had. So as a result, even when enabling the hidden tracks, the game thought the files were missing, and omitted them from the playlist. 19:12 "Command and Conquer my divided world" - ah I love that track :)

I was first introduced to RA2 by my father, and I was immediately hooked. I loved the artstyle, the cutscenes, the game mechanics. I purchased RA3 not long after for my Xbox 360, and I loved it for many years. Right after my Skylanders stage, and right before my Sims stage (which I am still in, even if I don't play the Sims 3 anymore). RA3 had become something of a staple for me, after I had finished my homework for the night. RA3 was and forever will be a monumental game in my mind (even if it came after Westwood). To see that a remastered version of the originals is here, even if it's for the games that I was too young to play, is very exciting. I am dying for a remastered RA3, Uprising, Tib Wars and Kane's Wrath (even if I do think that the graphics and other things in the last two are very good). I am not a game designer, I cannot compensate for the insanity that happened at EA for the better part of the last decade. If EA and Petroglyph would like to make a RA3 remastered, I would be more than happy to jump onto the team of fans that give advice to the developers. I am more than aware that the team that worked on RA3 is probably long gone, but I implore EA to try. Give the development team at LEAST 2 years to make the game, and we'll see how many copies it sells. Spoiler Alert: It will sell A LOT of copies. Let's not make another dumpster fire like Tib Twilight! PS. I am fully aware that RA3 was not meant for anyone under the age of 12 (and I was 10 at the time), but age rating systems for games in the US are deeply flawed. It's a bit like movie age ratings. For the slightest violence, PG-13. For 2 seconds of sex, R. I can tell you with absolute certainty, that in other countries around the globe (I am specifically looking at France, as I have been many times to visit family) that the people who rate games and movies in the US are wimps, who can't stand the sight of blood and/or sex. Sorry for the ranting in this PS, but it was necessary.
2:12 This may be obvious already, but I'd thought I'd mention that these voices that appear in some of the C&C tracks from the official release CD are actually from the movie Top Gun. "In Trouble" features lines from when Maverick loses control after getting into Iceman's jet-wash or whatever. "Just Do It Up" features lines from when Viper talks about the Top Gun school, "Every encounter is gonna be much more difficult". "Great Shot" features lines from the training with Jester, and he says "Get your butts above the hard-deck and return to base immediately". These voices on the CD appear to be recordings quoting the movie, and not actual samples from the movie, however the track version listed at 7:50 seems to have actually sampled the movie.
I just LOVE these trivia. I love the C&C OSTs at a point that I know them by heart (I even own the C&C & RA OSTs on CD), but I even didn't knew the existence of some tracks you covered. Well done, and thanks for all your work! I saw the Magfest show live, I was in awe :)
I was annoyed at the complaints at the remixes made by the Tib Sons for not sounding exactly the same as the songs from the actual soundtrack of the game. The only reason they don't sound the same is because of the instrumentation and nothing else. Some people were even advertising their own covers which they say is "better" than what the Frank and the Tib Sons offered.
I didn't see anyone complaining about it, plus I simply fell in love with the Bonus Tracks... I would be surprised if it's not a vocal minority of people!
Thank you for making me go through my teens again. :D I was OBSESSED with everything soundtrack of Command & Conquer and sought through all available game files to find each and every bit of music I could find. For a year or maybe longer, I listened to nothing else but C&C soundtracks... Listening to the remastered soundtrack threw me back into these years and of course my young self immediately noticed how some of the tracks sounded different because Frank had lost the original audio sessions. 🙈 One thing about the voice samples: I thought one of the reasons they were changed from the "prototype" sounding ones to the actual files were, because Frank used samples from movie lines and didn't want to get any copyright issues using these, so instead he re-recorded them.
I remember there was a guy named Chicajo who remixed and redid tracks for SystemShock and even did a few of the Command and Conquer Red Alert tracks like Hellmarch, the menu and map themes a number years ago. I believe he also rendered a number of Red Alert inspired tracks back in the day for the old standalone mod/game Red Alert: A Path Beyond which was based off the Renegade engine. Sadly, I believe his health failed him and he may have passed on a number of years back and his website no longer exists. Still, if you can find the tracks on a deep-dive through the interwebz or youtube, I'd highly recommend giving them a listen. ::Addendum:: As of posting this, I've come across a few of them on an old EHD and I'll look into posting them on YT channel within the week so there is at least something for the record.

Fun fact about the Mag Fest version of the end of the bass solo in Militant Force is that he plays the riff from Play That Funky Music White Boy which could be why it was changed to Act on Instinct.
havent watched the full video YET, but already wanna note that alot of Instrument samples were used from the Sample Library "Sonic Foundry - Methods of Mayhem" there's lots of drumloops, basslines, weird sample loops that made it into the earlier C&C games atleast till Red Alert 2, lots of voice samples too, like "Your feeling of helplessness is your best friend, savage" which, don't get me wrong, doesnt take away from the fact Frank used these really, REALLY well and made his own stuff with it
Thanks! That was thoroughly enjoyable! I’m a huge C&C fan, particularly of Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert and invested many many many hours into that game throughout the late nineties and beyond. Maybe something of interest to you: I purchased Command & Conquer: Red Alert back in 1996/7 for the PC (was using Windows 95 OS) and have the original CDs. I played the DOS version and I distinctly remember ‘Afterlife’ being the name of that track ‘Awaiting’ you mention, as in, looking through the music playlist from the in-game menu. Though I’ll have to clarify that but I would say 90% probability that that is the case. It could be something to do with the European version of the game that shipped. Anyway, thanks a mill! The tags have issues showing up on my phone but I replaced the entirety of my Tib Dawn and Red Alert collection with the Remastered and Bonus tracks from the collection. I cannot get enough of the Tib Sons remix of Big Foot and that guitar solo.
I love the remastered collection. Hopefully this is a sign of many great things to come. Maybe EA will finally wake up and realize what people ACTUALLY want. Or you know... they won't....
I was a bit disappointed that they removed my favourite part from the HM2/3 medley that was in the live version and it’s the awesome guitar part they added during the intro of HM3 (I’m sure there’s a technical term for it but I don’t know)
Regarding the naming conventions, is there an explanation to the different names for some of the tracks, namely Warfare/Full Stop, or Face The Enemy/Run For Your Life. I used the in-game names of the original as the source, and I never figured out why they were renamed. And thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable trivia video.
For the most part, there's really no way of knowing. Maybe Frank hadn't settled on track names 100% by the time they were added in and just named them on the fly when the programmers asked for names, it could be any number of reasons. For the tracks with names that are completely different, like Warfare / Full Stop and Target / Mechnanical Man, I really have no idea. Only the Retaliation-only names don't match Frank's naming style so I think we can say those were made up by the devs. It's kind of a mystery for most. Make sure you've beaten the following missions: * The Covert Ops GDI and Nod mission 1, 'Blackout' and 'Bad Company' * RA Soviet; 'Guard Duty' * Counterstrike; 'GREECE Crackdown' * The Aftermath; 'ITALY Harbour Reclaimation', 'FRANCE Testing Grounds', 'SPAIN Grunyev Revolution' * Giants Ants, 'Discovery!' This will unlock all of the bonus tracks. 'The Plan' and 'The Truth is a Lie' are unlocked by completing the missions 'GREECE Crackdown' and 'ITALY Harbour Reclaimation' specifically. Off the top of my head, the two Cov Ops missions unlock 'Tank Battle' and 'C&C Credits Outtakes Theme', the Giant Ants mission 1 unlocks 'Surf No Mercy', Soviets mission 1 might be 'Hell March Original Demo', and 'Journey' and 'Concrete' will be the others. If you can source a copy of the game, check out this guide for installation: cncnz.com/features/technical-support-help-guides/installing-command-conquer-sole-survivor/ After that, you can use XCC Mixer to extract the .aud file as a .wav Better yet, here's my copy. I deeply hope that this remaster has rekindled EA's interest in Command & Conquer. And, for that matter, that the positive PR they got from this and other games where they merely acted as booster and publisher instead of getting involved in development of economics has shown EA that they don't actually need to try and make games "live services". I can't find "the plan" and "The truth is a lie" sound tracks in the remastered collection, or on the internet, except on Amazon. Am I missing something? And if someone can give them to me, I'd appreciate it, since I can't buy stuff from Amazon right now...
Make sure you've beaten the following missions:
* The Covert Ops GDI and Nod mission 1, 'Blackout' and 'Bad Company'
* RA Soviet; 'Guard Duty'
* Counterstrike; 'GREECE Crackdown'
* The Aftermath; 'ITALY Harbour Reclaimation', 'FRANCE Testing Grounds', 'SPAIN Grunyev Revolution'
* Giants Ants, 'Discovery!'
This will unlock all of the bonus tracks.
If you don't have the Giant Ants campaign unlocked, I think you need to shift click the speaker in top right of the main menu background. You unlock Funpark in a similar with in Tib Dawn
Thanks man, your help is much appreciated :) . Will beat the missions as you said and tell you if it worked.
20:12 no way
is that actually volkov?
from soviet soldier volkov and chitzkoi or however those names are written?
i have actually considered calling my dog chitzkoi but the wife veto'd it
luna wouldve made a great chitzkoi anyway, she actually caught a home invader once red-handed
soviet soldier volkov would be proud
Can you do a playthrough of the remaster? I think it would be very entertaining judging by your voice and personality.
Hey! That's kind of you to say, but I'm not sure it'd go that well. There's a reason I have to hide behind scripts, I'm really bad at talking off the top of my head. I've tried solo LPs and streams and I'm just not wired for that sort of thing I'm afraid
AHHH THE REDS
Can you review Renegade X ?
especially there will be a expansion released soon in fall this year called Renegade X: Firestorm, a tiberian sun FPS
Hey i really like your videos.. I love the games. So thank you for presenting my favorite series to me so brilliantly. But I have a question. Where did you get map1.aud from Sole Survivor? Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere anymore.
Glad you enjoyed them!
I ripped map1.aud from Sole Survivor itself. It's quite a pain to get it installed since the game installer is 16 bit and Windows doesn't run those any more, but it's possible. If you can source a copy of the game, check out this guide for installation: cncnz.com/features/technical-support-help-guides/installing-command-conquer-sole-survivor/ After that, you can use XCC Mixer to extract the .aud file as a .wav
Better yet, here's my copy. The track is a short menu theme and is meant to loop, but this one loops twice then gently fades out: www.mediafire.com/file/6pmvvwd6xyj4nzi/map1.aud.mp3/file
@@NoStringsPrd WOW thank you so mutch! You are a great help! :) Please continue. I look forward to all new videos from you. And let's hope that there will be a new game in the future. Since the remastered version I've slowly got some hope again.
Hello! Do you happen to have an image for the RA2 soundtrack? It's just that I'm watching it in high quality and normal resolution in your video... Don't you have this file?
I deeply hope that this remaster has rekindled EA's interest in Command & Conquer. And, for that matter, that the positive PR they got from this and other games where they merely acted as booster and publisher instead of getting involved in development of economics has shown EA that they don't actually need to try and make games "live services".
And to think this all started because EA released a game that was probably otherwise about as notable as the Dungeon Keeper Mobile game.
I like how you pronounced "Alarmstufe Rot" XD Greetings from germany!!
Hah, level with me, how bad was it?
Greetings!
@@NoStringsPrd 10/10, of course. ;) In all honesty I really do appreciate all your high quality uploads, keep it up! :)
Thanks mate, glad you enjoy them!
I assume cabal is next
That's great and all, but what is the guy saying Hell March??
Best I can tell, it's probably something close to "Reform line, quick march", I'm not 100% on the first part but the second part seems pretty clear. I have a video on this topic for the reasoning if you're interested; ua-cam.com/video/4YVUA7_2ayU/v-deo.html
@@NoStringsPrd Thank you so much! I wasn't actually expecting a reply, but a whole video dedicated to exactly what I was looking for is just perfect. You've earned yourself a subscriber!
Oh awesome, welcome!
oh he also made music for General ?
He only made a demo, to see if EA Pacific wanted him (since Wetwood had just closed). They elected instead to go with Bill Brown and Mikael Sandgren, and Frank went with Petroglyph. Frank's Generals Demo isn't in the game, it was hosted on his website jukebox
@@NoStringsPrd I've never heard that demo before. I really do like it.
@@user-yo8ab1ys9e Imagine _Generals_ with Frank Klepacki's touch. Not to diminish the game's final soundtrack as it's great from an atmospheric perspective, but Frank's music has a unique sonic quality all its own.
I miss the Hip Hop tracks - I like the metal too but I like to mix it up
Hang on...
I can comment in here during a premiere?
yup
Real shit

The world works in mysterious ways.
What about Dune music trivia?
I'm surprised you included soul-survivor on your website, that game is usually unknown to people.
I'm astonished to find it was released in a box!
I thought it was a fan project
"Sole survivor". No souls involved. And, the unique tracks in SS are the same as the RA: Retaliation ones. in fact, they are included on the SS CD as CD audio tracks.
It'd be awesome if _Sole Survivor_ comes back as a mod, if only to see what it was like playing what's essentially an early form of MoBA.
Is it just me, or does awaiting sound unsettling? I always get a weird feeling when it plays.
But... who is the mechanical man?
Greetings @
No Strings Prd! Just sent you an e-mail about that Computer Gaming world (Russia) magazine issue with an After Life track. Please respond via e-mail if interested.
As much as I love c&c, I always hated the music. I usually mute it and just play Linkin Park's "In the End" on a loop while I play.
