The ROG phones have two USB ports. On the ROG 7, the side port is for fast charging. You used the slower bottom port. It also appears you didn't have X-mode turned on. I think you should also do a test with older phones to see how they behave over time. I have a P6P and for several months the zoom camera no longer focuses except in daylight. Wasn't it normal to work the same as on the first day? In addition, I could give maximum zoom to make a kind of macro with her help, now she tells me to back off if I want her to focus. What guarantees do those with P7P have that they will not suffer the same next year after the release of P8P? And so on.

So for the bloons test, a GPU's job is to prep the graphical aspects of the game (what you can see). The CPU does everything that you can't see. If the CPU benchmarks showed that the iPhone was ahead, then it's natural that the iPhone would do a better job on Bloons where there are millions of calculations to do that are CPU bound. That's why there was more lag present on the ROG phone in comparison. I don't know if there are enough graphically intensive games on the phones that would allow for the ROG to show how strong it is yet, which is why I don't think the overall gaming performance on a phone matters that much current gen but I don't play many mobile games so.
Play fortnite mobile at epic settings then u can see how good ur GPU is in the combination with the cpu

Good comparison video, but the choice of game for the gaming test was very strange. You don't choose a CPU intensive game to test the GPU and FPS numbers (unless that game has an option to pass the calculations to the GPU). There are some games that depend on CPU a lot, but most games usually are GPU-bound.

Ozarks is an absolutely beautifully shot show. If ya watch it in DoVi on any high end display, it's absolutely stunning. Yeah, it's mastered at low nit levels as it's a theme of the show... it's a dark show, with an overcast tone throughout, with times they change the color grading, like the Mexico scenes and what not.
Idk if 2000 nits is a requirement to watch Ozarks as intended...the grade doesn't even go that high...the aspect that will help with Ozarks is good and accurate shadow detail, along with good EOTF tracking/tone mapping, and a decent dynamic range.
If I can enjoy Ozarks on a WRGB OLED....I can definitely enjoy it on a 1500 or 2000 nit AMOLED, and enjoy the cinematography and hard work that went into that beautifully graded show.
Even game or thrones doesn't require a super bright display...maybe if you're trying to watch in broad daylight, but that would be a outright mistake, and any serious cinema watcher wouldn't make such a mistake...
Is GoT and "The Battle at Winterfell" even shot in HDR? Truly, I can't remember, but watching it when it came out, it was definitely SDR...Even then, I could still enjoy that show and battle, even on a "budget"/midrange TCL r625 FALD QLED I was watching it on at the time, before going OLED. Had no issues viewing that either...so all I'm sayin, is if a 100 zone "budget" FALD QLED that waa hovering right around 1,000 nits peak, and didn't have the best FALD algorithm can do those shows justice, a 1500-2000 nit AMOLED with true black, vibrant colors with amazing color gamut coverage and color conversions...great dynamic range, etc....sure can do those shows justice as well...
A better use case for the high peak brightness is in movies and shows that utilize such luminance levels...think of movies like "The Matrix" graded in HDR. Mad Mad Fury Road. Aquaman..Gemini Man..Starship Troopers..Bridge on the River Kwai..Pacific Rim...
You get the point I hope. I could keep going, but those high nit grades are rare, as mastering monitors aren't really going past 5,000 nits on a average. At least fme...

I feel like the benchmarking was done unfairly. Yes, Iphone's CPU was better, but it's all about which phone performs best in general. You can't just say "Well because the iPhone has a better CPU, but the ROG phone has better overall spec and outperforms the iPhone in multiple tests, it's a draw."
You should have tested multiple games because like you said for benchmarks, the games were running different lines of code and if the results were consistent for multiple games then you could give the point to ROG or iphone
for the gaming category at the very least you should talk about the experience. Extra trigger buttons, stereo separation, sustained performance and fps stability, heat, etc. What you did was basically like a cpu benchmark.

I've seen iPhone 14 pro max lagging while playing asphalt legend at max graphics and it goes to less than 10fps.

I use the rog 6 and find it to be one of the best phones I have ever used. It's great for gaming using the trigger buttons and pretty good as an all rounder. Will definitely look into getting one of these ones.

I use the ROG 6 just for every day use and absolutely agree one of the best phones I've ever had battery life is amazing and seems to last forever on ultra durable mode (power saving mode at 20%) charges super quick goes up to 100% in about 30 mins and for games it's absolutely amazing although I use a attachable controller I don't enjoy using the touch triggers cause my hands are to big it feels uncomfortable for me

If you are testing the wifi speeds simultaneously, then you will probably get unreliable results, it will depend on how your router divides up the bandwidth more than it will depend on the capabilities of the phone.

Honestly both are very dope. I can see the appeal for the ROG phone for those power users who need all that battery and performance. Personally it’s a little flashy tbh. I love the square edges of the iPhone and how the screen doesn’t have almost any border. It’s just so clean. I feel like of ROG went with something simple like that I would definitely be game.

As someone who has worked in packaging and high end commercial printing my whole life, I was in awe and rewatched the first min.... a few times.
Innit,ROG makes some of the best boxes in the smartphone game. The unboxing experience is just on a whole different level than any other phone and makes you smile. I have the ROG 5 from years 2 ago and I just sit down and admire it's spaceship looking box sometimes.
the last game was a CPU intensive task because its 2D and requires calculations linearly, ofcourse apple wins it because of faster CPU, but in terms of what actually defines a modern game like genshin impact is the amount of parallel processing done to render 3D which is so much better in this generation of androids than on apple, just by seeing the GPU benchmark you can say its generations ahead

I think the benchmarks on the rog should have been done with both the cooler on and cooler off, and see the difference and how it compares with the iPhone. Despite the cooler coming in the box, you’re not going to be using it all the time, and so I think it would be important to know

The fps boost is way more important for games like cod mobile, the difference is very noticeable there
If you run both speed tests at the same time, the speed will drop by a lot. You should also check wether or not the phones are on the same Wi-Fi frequency/technology.

Like what is the Outcome? Samsung beats Apple in EVERYTHING but the Iphone camera wins face portraits, sunsets and purple skies.. That's the only difference I saw on our cameras from work when we went sailing. Sunsets and purple skies and faces looks shit on Samsung and that's about It..

performance wise, its basically the same performance as the rog phone 7 here, or slightly better due to samsung's own modified qualcomm chip

@@dagg497 I have to greatly disagree. The iphones Performance per Watt is way higher! It's display also appears more appealing with its thin edges. The design is more thought out and within the apple environment, it's far more optimized than android could ever dream of!
To be honest both cpu are good enough to not notice any difference exept in games but games use more gpu nowadays so the performance is still better I feel like the ROG got a dub there

Just wanted to lyk, i love watching these comparison videos!! Really helps u understand the difference and it's genuinely fun. But I feel like if you were to rate the phones in addition to picking between the two for each category, it would give them a better overall comparison (even if that score is somewhere in the corner). For example, lets say u give one phone a 8 and another a 7.5 for one category and for the next category u give the first phone a 2 and the second one a 9. If u just simply pick between them it might show that they are equal, but when u compare the total scores u will see a big difference!!

Something that I have seen about the Performance of the RoG with the fan, is not that ir made it's perform better, it makes it that the performance doesn't degrade with time because of heat like s lot of phones do, which is really good if you are playing 4 hours of Genshin in your phone.
There are no consistent trends on wifi, it's always chamging, because you have collisions with so many other devices. Using both at the same time will kill speed because they have to avoid collisions
Not sure if the battery charging test is particularly accurate, i have a 14 pro and hook it up to one of the new USB-C cube like chargers and i have it charged up in 30-40 mins
Also keep in mind, the audio difference isn't nearly as big as it is irl, you're hearing two different sources but it's through the same speaker. When actually using the two phones, you hear the difference much more

ROG designs just look beyond great.
I have the ROG 6 Pro and again, I wouldnt change it for anything. There are some features that are (I find) hugely beneficial with this ROG. It has a headphone jack. There is a usb -c port in the side of the phone also for charging. The ability that when playing games with the charger plugged in, you can bypass charging the battery and power the game that you are playing only. There are two pressure shoulder buttons on the side of the phone that can be programmed for use outside of gaming. I have one of them to turn on the torch and the other to record audio at any moment. There is also the option to have the phone record all the calls that you make and receive without third party nonsense. Double tapping the back of the phone is also a programmable setting to active functions such as screenshot/record/light/multimedia etc. Not to mention the asus software for all these hardware perks, is simply on point. Can't fault it.
Speaking practically this phones
is only for less than 0.5% of users. For a normal user iPhone is more than sufficient. Having those bulky attachments for a device look cool but not at all convenient

If you and Apple, make a phone you should put shoulder buttons on it like on a controller and you should make the phone play any game
I just switched from Iphone 13 Pro Max to Asus ROG Phone 6D Batman edition and don't regret it. Battery and display are better camera was better on iphone but I'm not really into photography. But when it comes to gaming you have to take into consideration the Air triggers and the Armory software from the Asus which gives it some nice comfort functions. And makes up for the lack of optimization.

As much as agree that the cooler comes with the phone, a benchmark without cooling is DEFINITELY warranted.
This was an incredibly great video but that benchmark oversight gave this video a hit on credibility and accuracy.
While I do think I can find a video elsewhere that can talk about that, I rely on mainstream youtubers for benchmarks since I do know that their testing is quite rigorous.
Still an 11/10 for me (especially since I'm not a phone guy) but I hope future videos can address this.
The charger doesnt come in the box, the cooler does, the iphone would lose all tests as it would be dead

It's like benchmarking two cpus with two different coolers.
What's the use of benchmarking if it's not made under the same environment and circumstance? It's unfair. Will the results be negligable? Maybe. We'll never know because it wasn't released. So now we'll have to find out ourselves.
It's a missed opportunity to give clarity to the audience. Not everyone has the opportunity to benchmark phones like this and it's a waste that they didn't do it. We audiences rely on reviewers to give us the data we need to make purchases. It's a small data point but I'm literally making a buying decision with the help of this video.
There might be people that bring the cooler with them everywhere they go but for some people like me can't be bothered to do that. The cooler's a nice to have but it's not a thing I'll bring all the time.
I think I've explained myself very clearly and I won't be adding any more to this. If you can't understand the idea and value of equalizing benchmarks for the sake of data accuracy, that's on you.

There are many tests on youtube on this go check them out. Coolers only help in temperatures the most, in throttling there is a very minimal difference.

There's massive room for improvement in test methodology you have followed for each of your tests. For instance, when batteries are different capacity you have to rely on dynamic discharge current and charge current capacities. etc.. for comparing wifi tests again you could have connected one phone at a time to same wifi and completely turn off your other devices that use internet and also looking at which phone is clocking to 2.4/5G bandwidths more so overall good video but definitely coming from a tech savvy person like you would make a difference if these things are taken care of whilst doing one on one comparison.
Or actually use the fast charging port on the ROG and not the wrong one at the bottom.

I think all higher end Snapdragon and Apple A chips theoretically are more than enough to run games fluidly even ram is no issue with good optimization. For the experience it comes all down to, the software optimization, refresh rate, cooling, battery and inputs like triggers. Apple has good optimized games but heat dimming is an annoying problem and battery + input too. There are no iPhones with triggers, or external devices that lets you map screen areas with on screen controls to real buttons. I had a Blackshark 4 for some weeks and it was the best phone gaming experience, no heat dimming, stable fps, full charging in 15-20 minutes and triggers, in the end i switched back to my iPhone because everything else on the Blackshark sucked and kept playing on my iPad.
