I would move the transducer
Yo, I would tear my knees up on that daily lol. Awesome vid dude. Thanks for showing this.
Thanks for sharing this video. One thing to point out, regular steel and aluminum do not mix. The steel will react with the aluminum and cause pitting - weakening the aluminum and causing damage to the boat. It looks like all the screws holding the tabs on are steel and possibly the hinges or angle brackets are steel as well. Especially if your kids are using them as steps. You don't want the hinges to snap off and cut someone. Take the time and replace them all with stainless steel and you tabs and boat will out live us all. 5:35
My 25ft sport cruiser has hydraulic trimming tabs. It allows you to adjust the level of your ride side to side. When people move of the load is uneven on the boat.
Yes, that’s the fancy ones 👍🏼
@@DudeLetsFish funny thing is. I spend 4days a week on my jon boat. Shrimping, fishing and crabbing. I only use my cruiser once or twice a month.
Nice trim tabs. Guy done a great job.
Well done and fun to watch! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I knew what they were first time I saw your boat and thought it was genius. I did a lot of research on center consoles and flat bottom skiffs and offshore boats that when I decided the Jon boat was perfect I wanted to either bring trim tabs or a transom platform/extender over into the build.
Now I'm thinking about going from 14x48 to 18x60 I might not to the platform....
Thanks for video , now I’m gonna have to build these much cheaper than pods and I’ll bet you can prob run just as shallow with these since your always up ? I’ve got a 1648 as well with 25 2 stroke , always trying to get it to run shallower
Yes, would like to see your finished product.
What would you say the angle is. Is it at the same angle of the bottom of the boat or slightly angled up.
Same as the bottom of the boat
Do they help with side to side buoyancy?
I’m sure they help a little
Always attach the trailer crank rope to the front of the boat before you pull it out of the water. Also don’t buy a used boat with any modifications 😆
Those are not trim tabs, they’re just aluminum tabs. They don’t do anything to your boat. All they’re doing is adding that amount of running surface. A “trim” tab pushes down against the water at an angle and force the bow down. Once at planning speed they retract up to where yours are and have no impact on the way the boat rides.
Pods are hollow (or foam filled) blocks added to the back of a boat to add buoyancy and counteract an extra heavy motor.
Thanks for the update, I’m no scientist but I heard they get your Jon boat on plane quicker 🤷🏼
those are just tabs ha ha ha lmao. dude they work off struts and push down into the water. idea is when you take off they are all the way down to put you up on plane fast. as you gain speed they are forced up but still loaded to give you a smooth ride. if you get set up right you will be able to adjust them to trim your boat at speed and depending on what your doing with the boat. l what you have there is doing a lot your not getting the full value by a long shot
Mine are just welded on, not adjustable
Would you mind giving out the dimensions of those?
13x15
Maybe he should have used stainless bolts 😂
👍🏽
Your motor is sitting too low, be faster raised up
This is weird stuff
Totally!
