Ok I see the rod hatch, the deep stow hatch, the cooler hatch, the livewell hatch.... but where the hell is the slim jim and twinkie hatch? Can't go fishing without slim jims and twinkies!!!! Good video Scooter!
New to the channel I’ve caught nates videos and Michaels good to see you doing this boat it’s the exact boat I bought a week ago and didn’t know hope mine measures up.
That is one freaking awesome build. Everything looks like it was made by a manufacturer, but only better. Only one thing I would have done differently is not used that expensive toothpaste. I believe I would made a trip to the dollar store. LOL👍
Just an idea...could use a wax marker next time too. That would make pretty precise marks of where the rivets sit against that aluminum. Toothpaste makes a MUCH better story though!! Lol
Hey man the boat isn't much bigger then 14. U should go for it. Being this was my moms boat I wanted to keep it & turn into something nice.. in other words use what uve got. The Deep V would have a ton of room
It would work on a 14 as well, you may need to go with a shorter width in the middle lid due to the contour of the deep v. Aside from that, your recessed foot tray may just sit closer to your lids
@@fireantfishing I'm really torn. I was thinking about putting float pods on it but I might add well just extended it 2' and widen it like 4" to 52" with a custom box. I was gonna build custom lids to cover the pit when fishing to give me 12' of deck (2' in the v cover up front). If I extend it I get a true 14' deck, 8"-12" down from the top of the sides. More stability. More room. If the live well keeps water in using that way of building with thicker walls will keep water out.
Loving the fact, that you expose your mistakes as you go, much appreciated! Solid work man! Can’t wait to see more to come and switching that notifications 🔔 Keep’em coming!
ive seen so many videos on using these lids. But how do you make the actual compartment below them water proof? If water can get on top of the subfloor, this means something needs to be done to make a separate compartment?
This will be a complete build start to finish. Check back for updates as Ryan will be showing the next steps of the build. What u see now is just a shell... there will be actual compartment in-between the lid and sub-floor... also if u haven't already u can watch the rest of this build on fireaints channel. Just click on his playlist at tip of page then click project Wilson.
Cool to see you working through the kinks and challenges. I saw a tip for lining up the striker when adjusting a door that won't close where a guy used lipstick, marked the striker and then he could tell where it was rubbing the plate on the door frame. That idea came to mind when you were working through where to drill out the framing to get that hatch in place. Nice work man, love following your build.
I mean, I could have used 5200, but that gets messy.

There is going to be a secret hatch...shhhh....

🤣🤣🤣🤣 yeah, probably should grab some from there and keep in the garage just incase haha
I used toothpaste in my build too!
Nice! Worked well!

Very good point! Ill look into that!
Man, if my boat was longer than a 14' deep v I'd totally do this with that big of a pit

All electric so I can get into hard labor. Maybe hit the trail. I can get a co angler
I'm gonna build my electric outboard too. Try and use 18650 cells to power it.
i hope your now going to use black as your deck or at least put sea deck on it. Its going to get egg boiling hot and unable to stand on.
Hydroturf, but yeah it will be EVA foam

This is so clean, some really nice work. One day ill do a rebuild and have my boat looking like this. Hopefully lol
Awesome tips and bits as always. Quick question what size angle aluminum do you use for your builds?
Thanks Frank! 1/16" dia, 1.5" angle for framing and 1.25" Tube for vertical supports

Hydroturf and boxing out the compartments with aluminum sheeting

What gauge sheet aluminum are you using?
.090 subfloor and decking, .050 vertical areas
This build is so legit. I'm always sad when I see the video coming to an end. 😭🤣 Your boat will smell minty fresh too!!
Hahaha very true! Thanks Shane!

Thats a good idea as well, I might have to use something like that to cut out the Utility holder in the aluminum sheeting
