The Grandia HD Collection is finally coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S via backwards compatibility) on March 26, 2024, publisher GungHo Online Entertainment America has announced.
The collection, which launched on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2019, puts the two role-playing game classics of Grandia and Grandia 2 in a remastered collection with improved UI, sprites, and texture art alongside widescreen support and visually enhanced cinematics.

I am a total Grandia super fan (old school subscribers have heard me rant about it for YEARS now) so I just wanted to thank you for randomly clicking my video

Yeah, they are classics and I wish they would give alot more love to ps1 classic games(I have alot of my original copies still as collectors items)just looking at the cases sometimes brings me joy 😊👍 why wouldn't they include grandia 3 here? I mean I get that it was already released on switch and they cleaned it up and brought it over but that would ha e been cool.

Serious question, what are/were the differences between the PS4 and Switch?
I bought the Switch Physical years ago, played through it.. only thing I noticed was in Grandia 1, on AOE attacks the entire plain would flash when being hit instead of staying translucent beneath the animation.. causing some weird looking spells. (Like a fireball would have the entire white around it when it hits instead of staying clear)
Now we need Skies Of Arcadia HD.

Grandia 2 on Dreamcast was such a great time. Still one of my top RPGs. Fun battle system. Incredible OST.

Man I played grandia 2 back on sega dream cast in 2002. Had a blast! Then I played grandia extreme on ps2 back in 03.

Man Grandia 2 was amazing on the dreamcast. This game is one of the reasons i keep it next to me wanting to play old school fighting games.

I remember unsubbing from you back when the collection first came out on the Switch. Both games had *so* many issues. Grandia II had performance problems, there were missing audio and animations from spells, it just all around was an inferior product to the Dreamcast version. Yet you didn't mention any issues and glossed over any feedback with instead glowing praise. Same this time, no mention if any issues still present on the Switch release are fixed here, just another video churned out without any in depth analysis of the port itself.
Thank you I was wondering if paying 150 for the physical was worth it but clearly not if the Gane is broken ill wait for a digital sale of 10 bucks
It's so disappointing we don't have grandia xtreme and grandia 3 here.... due to licensing probably....For anyone who doesn't know, of course these games are being released digitally on their platforms, but also limited run games picked up a physical edition, I think you have until April 14th to pre-order it. Already got mine pre-order
I want grandia3 , besides ps2 where can I play it?
Currently the only other release of Grandia 3 was a digital rerelease on PS3 but it looks the same as the actual PS2 version. Grandia Xtreme is still locked to PS2.

Grandia is a fascinating series. I remember when the last one was being released, Enix advertised at an anime convention about where they were taking the last entry.
This was before Square fused with Enix. Gosh it has been forever.
1&2 are amazing, love the soundtrack. Bummer about rhe HD features kinda getting in the way.
I don't understand why there still isn't an option to disable smoothing in Grandia 1 because on the Steam version you can edit files to turn it off. This should just be in the settings.

The Grandia Series is so underrated!
My son bought it on the Switch and he said it wasn't great, so not sure if they patched it or not to take care of some of the issues. Ordered my copy the other day on Limited Run for the PS4. Think the pre-order is open till mid April and it cost me $60, shipped to me here in Oregon, scheduled for delivery August 1- August 31. Thanks for the video because it justifies my purchase. 🙂

IMO ...all Game reviewers should also provide what formats the Game is being released for ..i.e. Digital only or Physical too. Some reviewers don't even mention what Game systems the Game is being released for.🙂

I love this series, in my opinion it has the best and most addictive battle system in any RPG, Grandia 2 is still my favorite all time RPG , it's a shame the collection doesn't have Grandia 3, excellent video, I love your channel.

Weirdly I just went back to this.. I have the Switch collection and then the 3rd on PS3.. The highlight is the kickass battle system.. One of the best you'll find in any classical rpg..
The grandia hd collection should of had 3 and extreme in it. To me it doesn't seem like a collection and more of a duology.
It is so sad that they did not add Grandia 3 also in the collection.
I wish it had grandia 3 just for a nice trilogy set. A good way of game preservation too.

$40 for two great RPGs with several Qol features is fine by me. That was the same price for Symphonia "Remastered" last year, which didn't even do the bare minimum! Same for the Legend of Legacy Remaster which cost $50! So, people don't complain about collections like this.

Grandia 1 HD is extremely lazy and disappointing from GungHo. They promised that they would port the Saturn version (which most hardcore fans consider the superior version), but of course, they didn't. Feels like they upscaled the entire game visually with those free AI upscale tools and called it a day.
Which is a shame, because those games deserve so much better.

the first grandia was already on the psn store since november 2023.
I remember downloading the original on my PSP well over a decade ago.. Later switched to Vita and when I was getting deeper in I ran into a glitch that deleted my saves somehow.. The remaster seems fine tho thankfully

There's just so much stuff coming out every week, it's impossible to keep up on everything.
They're too easy to make the most of the battle system, but the characters and the music kick ass.
Is this the HD collection, that only includes Grandia 1&2, leaving out like 2 or 3 of the rest of the Grandia series? That was really disappointing
It leaves out Grandia III and Grandia Xtreme.
2:15 grandia games here are pretty easy, especially 2 with nightmare ball hitting everyone and making some parts of bosses fall asleep. I believe 1 can even cancel with the limited magic system. Just glad it runs though a ripoff to have g1 on ps5 (and transfers from $6 cheaper ps3 that has manual) but g2 not separate. G1 also has a start as slow as dragon quest 7 or suikoden 5 before the first battle.
G2 also has better menus and shops than going to multiple places, which many omit like ps1 load times (that modern and even switch hardware post patch fixes up). The hard mode is a joke with like 10% more hp. That 5:07 embellishment is laughable.

i love Grandia 1 its my favorite game on ps1 i glad they bring it back i have alot of fun and a good laugh i don't think there any games made me laugh this hard or there will ever be any, because these new games ever funny or have any comedy. Grandia 1 the only game that have comedy and that what make the game so good. Gandia 2 have no comedy Grandia Xtreme have no comedy there no games with comedy anymore that what make me sad about games these days
It was buggy on Switch at the start, it was latter patched. Those patched versions from Switch are now the same on PS and Xbox. Nothing new.
I figure if you're a purist, go get the system and go play the original release

While I love Grandia's battle system, I think the Judgement Ring from the Shadow Hearts series (especially Covenant) is a bit better. Do you think we will ever get a remaster of that series Dreamcastguy and everyone else?

i watched your review, and while i love grandia the same way as you id say. i have to say that this is nothing but a quick cash grab.
what youll get here is nothing but upscaled sprites and a renderer that is set to 16:9 instead of 4:3.
that is nothing that a emulator cant achive today.
its sad really, that its beeing brought to fans in this state.
ill buy it, but not at 40$, i hope that the market will show them that this is not anything in range today.
there will be a discount in the timeframe of 3 months, the now skim off the hardcore fans and then the remaining people on the market will be triggered with a 25-50% discount.
I love Grandia II. A friend of mine lend me his dreamcast for two weeks with a bunch of games and G II hooked me so much that it was pretty much the only game I played. First of all, those visual effects for the spells were unlike anything I've ever seen up to that point. Second, the combat system... To this very day, decades after, still my favorite turn based combat system. I would so love a new Grandia game these days.
