When you see so much beauty here it's shameful and sad there is so much heartbreak and hatred.

The pub that you see in the film was actually a shop it was bought in 2002 and the owner turned it into a pub

Choice of music is excellent. Scenery is awesome. A visit to Cong is a must. Interesting to note that the composer of Inishfree music got no credits on the film. He may not have been interested in claiming copyright. One wonders if the film would have made such impact without the use of the music. Richard (Dick) Farrelly was the writer of the words and I believe the music a short time before the film was made, and was used by John Ford to maximum effect

You're right, I realized after that the cottage replica is in Cong and we went right past it ! Have to go back sometime. I did get the ruins of the original one though and I think that's what's most important, to me anyway.

It is not only sad. It is s disgrace. One has to wonder if there is an elephant in the room in the matter of right of way to it. There is a more modern house built quiet near to White O Morn ruins. The ruins belongs to a yank. There was a substantial sum of money allocated, by some Govern Dept a short number of years ago for the restoration. Wonder where it is at the moment. There seems to be a hands off attitude on the part of tourism and politicians
