No joke - if I didn't already have my dad's old boat in my garage I would swear that yours was his old boat. Looks to me like the exact same hull, color scheme and everything.
I read on BassBoat Central where a guy used Sentinel 747 adhesive remover. He said there was no fumes or odor. He applied it with a brush, waited 20 minutes and cleaned up the glue with paper towels. If that is true it must be unbelievable.
I ended up using Goo Remover, let it sit an then had to use elbow grease. Came up fairly quick, just time consuming. I didnt want to mess up the gellcoat, so I was pleased with how it all came up.
Use an adhesive remover! Pour it on place some plastic over it let it set over night! Citrus stripper is good as well! It works or yall just keep using all that elbow strength 💪
I've seen guys use xylene or MEK (Methyl Ethyl Keytone) to remove carpet glue. Others have tried Goo be gone, Denatured Alcohol, Lacquer Thinner, Fiberglass prep solution, Acetone. Some are toxic and flammable.
It seems like you guys hate both time and money. I've never restored a boat but I am thinking about trying one this spring. I would have gone a very different route on the same boat. I have to keep watching now, can't wait to see the end results.
Great Video, I have past experience removing carpet, mechanical elbow grease seems best, chemicals are excellent but really wash boat thoroughly to remove all residue. Question, I bought a 17 foot Tuffy. I am going to remove old carpet and spray bed liner in center section, do you think all glue has to be removed before application?
What's the best way to remove carpet glue? Let us know down below
I’m doing my 393v at the moment these videos have helped me so much man I sincerely appreciate them !!!
Layout paper towels and soak with solvent. Once melted, scrape up and clean up before drying
New carpet will make that thing look brand new 💪
Wow!!!!...got it right down to the bone!!!....nice job...
Glue removal is such a pain! A great finished project is because all of the prep work that isn't seen though! Great job!

Lacquer retarder thinner. Slower to dry and super strong solvent
