- We are pumped to get this GIANT Yamaha Outboard for our bass boat restoration project! This "new" Yamaha Vmax OX66 will really make this project boat move!

I am just old school I guess. I am a Mercury guy all the way. Been running mercury's for a long time and never had a lot of trouble with them. I don't know a lot about a Yamaha But I know a lot of people on UA-cam love them.

It was great meeting up with you today. The 175 is going to be rebuilt this winter. Should be a beast for my 375v.
Nothing like a 200 Yamaha, can't wait to see the finished product! My 200 Yamaha is a 1992 Pro-V, still running strong and guzzling gas like it's free.
Hey guys. I bought a 1998 Yamaha VMAX 3.1 OX66 brand new and it's still going strong. Andy @ Team Marine on UA-cam said it was 1 of 10 favorite motors he's ever worked on if that helps you at all.
Those are one of the best Yamaha outboards produced. Good buy! Check that shaft for true if it eats lowers.

Nice work on freeing up the rings. I know a guy that is a guru/huge fan of the ox66. Likely has some extra parts stored away. Let me know if you need anything and I can put you two in contact.
I just stumbled across this build and I'll be if you're not hanging the exact motor on the back that I'm contemplating buying for a boat I just bought. I've read everywhere that they're great and one of the best Yamaha has made.
My guy just doesn't know the hours on it so he's going to do a compression test for me. You had 100 and 90 the first time, but said that you later had much better numbers. I was wondering what those were?
Also, I was wondering just how you rigged that Yamaha to lift it with the forks. I couldn't quite see close enough to see what you were doing. I really appreciate all of your help!

@@MealeyMarine thats cheap just looked mine up for v150 03 and they want 2500..thinking about sei but heard some bad things about them
