Man I’m so happy to see you and Norm back together again on your channel. I never saw Norm joining the squad as even an option. What a great addition to the team. I went way back and watched you guys together when Noah was around too and to see it come back full circle is amazing. Can’t wait to see the boat project completed. Looking forward to watching the journey.
Having rebuilt my boat when you are buying Resin from the store, always pop the top off of it and make sure BOTH of the tubes of hardener is there. People come in and steal them
1/2” is all you need. Buy your foam/resin online as well as chip brushes. If you really want to use treated wood make sure you give it weeks to dry out. Or the glass will delaminate
Lojo you are doing a great job on this boat, good you have a Subscriber helping you that has done this before, Jay Thank you for helping LoJo out Think After this is done Lojo and you need to do a video of both of you fishing out of the Boat
This is great! Good job! Saw another boat build and the person laid the deck, cut holes in it and then poured the foam. He kept the cut out pieces for the holes and put them back in place after the foam expanded. Keep up the good work!
All that old fiberglass should have been ground down first with a grinder . That new stuff won’t stick to Un-ground older fiberglass. May last a little while but it will delaminate over time. You need a rough ground surface for it to adhere
what about the rotten stringers leading to the bow and stern??? if you put fresh wood in there with rotted ends its just going to rot out again, you really need to pop the cap off and get all up in there, i know its a lot more work, but better to do it 100% right than half ass it, this is like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound.
You should look into having closed cell foam sprayed in that boat mu man, it doesnt hold any water/moisture and I know when I sprayed it on the inside of barns, it makes the structure 300% stronger, just trying to help out
LOJO!!! DAMN PROUD OF YOU SON!!! YOUR DOIN IT!!! Seriously this is fantastic, you diven in committed to the project. Not necessarily knowing what your doin but seein it through. Outstanding, what an example for those young guys who had nobody to show them how to do stuff. Sometimes it takes FAITH, some big brass ones and not being afraid of failure. Some guys might not have the money, but if anybody has what your showin, than anything is possible. Even for Norm.
That was great to hear it's moving on smoothly and that you are getting your hands dirty doing fiber glass work plus have Norm try it I'm excited for the next update amazing video as always I can't wait for the next one
ill be honest, as a viewer, id love to see some positivity and enthusiasm towards the future of this boat. Thats what is going to bring me back for future videos. Your first few words of this video described the aura of your last few videos in regards to this boat, seemingly describing it as impossible. Just my thoughts as someone who wants to see this project succeed. Love the channel my man. Also, hit me me up if you'd like to indulge in some content possibilities including some 50-90lb spoonbill. Sight fishing in a shallow narrow river. Exciting stuff.
Great progress on the boat!!! One question though, wouldn’t the stringers run all the way up and down the boat under the cap? Wouldn’t you need to replace the stringers under the front and rear deck?
This was my question too! I'm concerned there might be a lot more rotten wood and waterlogged foam inside that boat waiting to wreak havoc! I am not a boat builder by any means, but I have done a fair share of carpentry. I have to imagine those stringers go further than what they replaced. Hope it works out!!!
The foam is only there to keep it floating if it capsizes. It doesn't add to the buoyancy of the boat. Kitty Litter will work wonders in drying out the hard to reach areas. Put it in there, vacuum it out. Repeat.
As a boat builder i find this so funny to watch 😂 in my opinion id say you should have popped the cap off the top and completely redo the whole deck . Plus you would've had access to the transom
As a non boat builder and very little understanding of how to rebuild a boat all I can think is “what about the other 1/3 of the wood and foam you haven’t exposed… you’re ok leaving all that rotten wood in the rest of the boat?”
LOJO, check out TotalBoat's marine closed cell foam insulation. It comes in different weights but the 2lb foam is perfect for general insulation throughout the hull. Be warned though, reaction time is about 30-45sec and the 2lb expands by like 300-500% by volume! Pour quick and stand back! Trim off the excess once it cures. 👌
When you foam the floor, go ahead and install the plywood to the stringers. Then go to U.S composites and order your foam. Then use a hole saw to put holes in the floor but save the holes. Pour the foam inside the holes and hold the cores over the holes as the foam comes up. After all foam is poured, glue the plugs back Then tab and lay glass over the floor
I live right up the road and have experience fixing up aluminum boats and with outboards if you need help I’ve bought and fixed up then sold a few in my day. Love you and the boys! God bless
Learning teaching and entertainment idk what more you can ask from a project boat besides the memories yet to come ? Love seeing big bearded men pop up on my subscriptions👀
And typically if you want to seal treated lumber you should let it weather for 6 months minimum or it won’t take the sealer well and the chemicals they treated the wood with originally will try to seep out from under.
Man it’s a great day when any googan member post, gets me excited to see what’s happened, just picked up the all black googan trucker at and a mondo box
I've been bingeing the channel and loving the vids. I realize it's not a huge deal but pls lower the blade on the table saw so it just gets through the piece. I found myself holding my breath watching that blade spin away as you cut, lol. Please be safe and keep on fishing.
Oscillating saws work great for fiberglass cutting, well worth the investment. Also, get chip brushes from a harbor freight if you need to throw them away.
I would stick with the three-quarter inch . Me and my dad anytime we replaced a floor in a boat that’s what we used just to be on the safe side . I’m very interested in seeing we’re this project gos . Keep up the good work brother . Going to be an awesome boat when it’s done .
Nice repair for a first-timer. Norm was not easy on it. She's gonna be a beauty and I hope you give her back to the man that gifted her to ya. He would flip and that's great content
Y'all made that look fun and interesting! Can't wait to see what she looks like when Y'all are done with it. Norm really hit the nail on the head with his analogy of the girl in the gym. I'm still laughing
do the stringers not run all the way to the transom? might wanna check under the battery storage and make sure they arent rotten underneath. if you redo the center and redo the transom but have rotten stringers between the two its kinda pointless.
You think that cost is rough. I am replacing a 15 x 20 deck and OH BOY. I got to give you guys mad props. This is a really big job and you are are going head on, nice job.
I am totally enjoying this series! Please keep this going, you are giving me so much insight to this that I am looking for my own project bass boat now 😎
Should go with high density foam for core and for stringers used coosa board , definitely would’ve cut all old glass out and done it correctly used epoxy instead of poly and vacuum bagged your repair areas that way the first wake or wave you hit it doesn’t delaminate beneath your feet good luck man
^This! Coosa is really nice to work with too. Some west system and marine grade plywood would be another option, but coosa is definitely the way to go for strength, longevity, and weight reduction. Seeing this almost makes me want to get an old bass boat and redo it, but I already have enough projects between cars and boats.
Resin doesn’t stick good on treated wood cause the wood is wet. Kiln dried Doug fir fir stringers. Also, for transom. There’s a new pour in transom with good reviews. I’ve seen a few videos of it online
I redid the bottom of my boat on time, we redid all the stringers with pressure treated 2 x 6 and fiberglass them in place and then for the deck I use starboard, star Road probably be really expensive right now.
Also, stringers stretch the length of the hull. Theres a large portion in front and behind the main deck/floor. Popping the cap is going to be your beat bet to get it done right. Also, you’ll want to do several layers of fiber glass on the stringers and transom. At the end of the day, it also depends on how much money you really feel like investing. Complete rebuilds are no joke on the wallet.
Look for a online pdf called west systems boat rebuilding. It's based on using epoxy resin, which I think is superior to poly resin, but the ideas and how to approach thing are good and solid. Its the basis I used for my rebuild and now it's better than new
I have a concern. I just saw the base get fiberglassed to the floor, if in the future someone wants to separate them there will be an issue. Remember that in the previous episode the pro said that they are separate pieces. having the ability to remove the top section to work on the transom, could be an issue that can't be fixed without major demolition unless redone now. 16:18
You probably have to take the cap off. The wood and insulation is probably gonna be rotting throughout the whole boat. Or at least cut out the rest of the floor because in order for the 3/4 ply to line up your going to have to cut the rest out anyways so its not un even.
So I can not believe how much wood costs these days. During covid shut down I was bored and remembered I knew how to do wood projects from high school wood shop. SO I started doing wood projects and yes wood was starting to go up in price. Also plexiglass is real high in price right now too.
Go to harbor freight and get something called chip brushes. Like 8 dollars for a 40 pack. Perfect for fiberglass work. I went through about 2 boxes doing my rebuild
It is in rough shape but it was donated. So, not too bad of a deal I guess. I'm glad to see you getting it back to being a fishable rig! Yes, I'm jealous. haha
That was fun...
Looks like fun!
Did you reseal the ends of the wood after you cut it?
watched Norm in Maine falling through the ice wearing the same shoes...awesome how you guys are all friends and hang together.
It was
Next time you need a hand let me know.
😂😂😂 I was waiting for an actual professional, then Norm showed up. Comedy gold
She’s gonna be so bad for you
Its nice but its no pontoon boat ill tell you what
I'd rather have the pontoon boat!!
God I hope so
Pontoon all the way
Hey man nice to see you, just walk outside and record yourself talking/fishing and the subscribers will watch.
Love watching these restoration vids i can already see you badge and davy slaying fat sallys on it🔥🎣🎣🎣
I love how everyone is trying to help & not scared to get down & dirty keep up the awsome work lojo
Man I’m so happy to see you and Norm back together again on your channel. I never saw Norm joining the squad as even an option. What a great addition to the team. Nice job brother! I see great things in the future! Norms "investment" analogy about killed me, I laughed so hard! KILLER!🤘
Thanks for sharing. Glad Norm gave his approval. Can't wait for the next one. Stay safe
1/2” is all you need. Buy your foam/resin online as well as chip brushes. If you really want to use treated wood make sure you give it weeks to dry out. Or the glass will delaminate
this.... some PT from the big box stores is still dripping wet coming off the shelf. Really need that to dry out before laminating
Huge mistake.
Looking good, Glad to see people learning new things!! Good job!!!
Great job man. I’d be like norm no idea what to do next but you actually made it look do able.
All that old fiberglass should have been ground down first with a grinder . That new stuff won’t stick to Un-ground older fiberglass. May last a little while but it will delaminate over time. You need a rough ground surface for it to adhere
Wow, coming along great. Norm the man.
Let's go Lojo. Your gonna get it bro. Awesome video by the way. Can't wait for the finished product

That boat professional you brang in was legit!! 🤦♂️ freaking norm is a funny dude!! Keep the boat videos floating lojo 👍
I love your videos. I've been watching you from back in the kayak days
LOJO!!! DAMN PROUD OF YOU SON!!!
YOUR DOIN IT!!! Seriously this is fantastic, you diven in committed to the project. Not necessarily knowing what your doin but seein it through. Whoa don't worry about that. Out of sight is out of mind.
The foam is only there to keep it floating if it capsizes. It doesn't add to the buoyancy of the boat. Kitty Litter will work wonders in drying out the hard to reach areas. Put it in there, vacuum it out. Repeat.
Love the boat build. I'm glad you are still doing the work yourself at least most of it. Keep grinding.
Lojo really enjoy the content man think your doing a great job on the boat build! Keep it going sir can't wait to see the finished product!
You’re doing a phenomenal job LOJO, keep up the good work! Loving these boat builds episodes!
~ Manny ~ 🤙🏼
Great job on the Stringers 😎
Niiiiiice… just wait until all the little steps are done and you don’t even remember the rotten wood!! 👌🏼
love these restoration vids. can't wait to see it finished.
Love the boat resto! Keep it coming bro, from UK 🇬🇧
Keep on pushing Lojo. You're doing great. Fun content.

Sup lojo. So far so good! Time for foam then wiring🤞.
Man, I love this series
Amazing content keep it up. Bro it’s coming together nicely. Great work.

Loving these boat overhaul videos.
Great video helps us looking for boats what to look for thanks lojo
Learning teaching and entertainment idk what more you can ask from a project boat besides the memories yet to come ? Love seeing big bearded men pop up on my subscriptions👀
Love the content dude, keep it up and don’t give up on that boat, you got this, if ayo can do it so can you
You ayo and norm have helped rediscover my love for fishing and makes me want to start my own videos. Is Googan planning on producing their own reels?
And typically if you want to seal treated lumber you should let it weather for 6 months minimum or it won’t take the sealer well and the chemicals they treated the wood with originally will try to seep out from under.
Norm described “investment” like a 90’s “Got Milk” commercial.🤣
Man it’s a great day when any googan member post, gets me excited to see what’s happened, just picked up the all black googan trucker at and a mondo box
What about the stinger pieces under the rear and front deck?
Those look good. I like the water seal and the 3/4 plywood too. Good idea.
I've been bingeing the channel and loving the vids. I realize it's not a huge deal but pls lower the blade on the table saw so it just gets through the piece. I found myself holding my breath watching that blade spin away as you cut, lol.

Norm looked like Davy Gravy when he was in the boat shaking his legs
Love the videos man! Seriously great job and awesome content.

So satisfying to watch these boat project videos! Great work on the videos lately the quality is 🔥🔥
Excited to see how this all goes. I’ve definitely learned a few things as I’m sure you did during this project. Can’t wait for the next video!
Perfect timing! Just sat on the toilet!
Looking good!!!!!👊🏻 Great team work!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!
Very cool. I actually learned something. I thought stringers we're only a couple inches thick did know they were 1x 6.
Your absolutely killing it! It’s going to look sick I wish it was mine!
Take all the time you need dude. More time means more videos for us. Even if it's baby steps, I'm going to watch every one!
do the stringers not run all the way to the transom? might wanna check under the battery storage and make sure they arent rotten underneath. if you redo the center and redo the transom but have rotten stringers between the two its kinda pointless.
This is really cool to see! Calling out Norm at 220 was a bit harsh LOL!
You think that cost is rough. I am replacing a 15 x 20 deck and OH BOY.
I got to give you guys mad props. This is a really big job and you are are going head on, nice job.
I am totally enjoying this series! Please keep this going, you are giving me so much insight to this that I am looking for my own project bass boat now 😎
Your killing it bro looks great I would definitely spray foam the gaps before u put the ply down
Hell yeah. My boat is coming along nicely.
I have been waiting for this video and was so excited when I got the notification!!
Can we talk about the hottie in the teal hoodie! 😉 Coming along nicely guys!!
loving the new content dude

I frame houses for living lumber prices are deff high at the moment and FYI lol floor joist stringers are for stairs u the man lojo
Norms introduction 😂
Keep these videos up! I’m getting ready to do the same to my boat…father in law passed and I got his rotten boat from him I can’t wait to start on it
Awesome job LoJo can’t wait to see the rest.
I redid the bottom of my boat on time, we redid all the stringers with pressure treated 2 x 6 and fiberglass them in place and then for the deck I use starboard, star Road probably be really expensive right now.
Looks great i learned alot i have to do the same thing to my boat.thanks for the video 😎

Hey , can use ‘small paint rollers, also Bondo. Squeegee, t allso a ‘air roller what us old pros call them! Others wise Dam good plan & work !
