By the time I was 35 I had lost both my parents. I'm 81 now and have been a vegetarian for most of my adult life but WFPB for the past several years. Your channel was one of the first that I started watching, and it has changed my life and my husband's. He still cheats once in awhile and I'm trying to impress upon him the importance of not doing that. Thank you for the inspiration you've given me, and countless others.

First of all, I am so sorry for your losses. I can identify. By the time I was 32 I lost both of my parents (1.5 years apart); one from cardiovascular disease and the other from cancer.
Both my mother and my grandmother died at age 69. I have been fearful of that legacy but I am now almost 73.
I am new to a WFPB lifestyle but my 3 young grandchildren have been my inspiration. I want to be around as long as I can for them.
Having children is the best!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Dear Brittany, I am the same age as your dad was when he passed. I, too, suffer with many of the maladies that he had to face. Thanks to being able to change my way of eating, and in no small part due to your efforts, Brittany, I am able to turn this life of mine around. I have no idea how much healing ability is left in me (I have done a lot of damage!), but I do know that my life will be better than it ever could have been before. You may never fully know how many people you have helped. In spite of all of your sadness, you still continue to reach out to help others. What a beautiful soul you are! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to help others. God bless you and your family, and may your dear parents rest in peace.❤❤

So very sorry, Brittany. The hardest part of adopting this lifestyle is not the eating. It's the remorse that we feel in not being able to truly reach the ones we love with the truth that they so desperately need. It is not your fault. There are so many forces against it at every turn that it seems something of a lost cause. You are a pioneer and a trailblazer. You have most certainly improved the lives of many thousands. Take comfort in knowing that although you could not reverse your parents' diseases, you have had and continue to have profound power in the lives of so many. You are doing your parents proud. Blessings to you and your family at this time.

You re young to have lost both. I lost my parents 3 days apart. So hard but at least they were 90s and I was 64.

I was 41 when my dad passed from cancer. While he was ill, I vowed to stop eating pork, as he and my mom were big eaters of this, being British. It was just the beginning. Reading Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Diet was my complete turning point. I’ve been vegan for 14 years and my daughter and hubby are now too. My mom died 7 years after my dad, same disease. All the more reason that my “why” stays firm! I’m sorry for your losses Britt. If you have videos of family to share with your boy, the memories will live on by hearing their voices and the faces to match from photos. ✨♥️✨

I am sorry for the loss of your parents. My Dad just passed 2 years ago at the age of 95. I feel very fortunate to have had him in my life all this time. I have been waffling with the idea of WFPB eating for awhile now and I truly appreciate your frank and candid talk. I think I just need to buckle down and "DO IT". I am tired of being tired and achy and want to live a better life than I have now in my mid 70's. Thank you for sharing and caring.

My father died of atherosclerosis while he was running to keep fit when I was 28 many decades ago now. He ate steaks, drank whiskey (he wasn't an alcoholic) and other reasonably healthy fruit and vegetables. He was in a very stressful job in the period before he died. I still miss him. He was very charismatic, funny, smart, very empathetic about other's suffering. He never knew his grandchildren and they didn't know him. I can really understand your sadness and relating it to the everyday choices we make about our lifestyle. I was a vegetarian from the age of 12 but there wasn't the knowledge back then about what food you ate. I had become a vegetarian because we had driven through hundreds of cows corralled at an abattoir on a Sunday drive and I had asked my father to explain it all to me. My decision was immediate and it was also a blessing to escape my mother's appalling cooking. In those days health was purely about weight control and exercise. Both my father and I were runners and we played squash on Saturdays. I know what you mean about the limits of influence we have over our parents. It's a truly terrible paradox that these days we really can help. But a lifetime of habits is a hard thing to shift. You are too young to be without your parents and it's a sad loss for little Paul too. But your father lived to see you healthy and happy Brittany, and with a baby, who will be the first of more in your family with Mark I'm sure. I wish you well and hope your journey through your grief has some good memories mixed in with the sad and painful ones. Take care of yourself Brittany ❤

So sorry for your loss! But so admirable for using your grief to help other people. My parents are in their 70s already, but both struggle with health problems, probably due to their diet choices (lots of meat, lots of satieted fats, lots of alcohol), but refuse to make any changes. It's sad to see and it makes you feel helpless and also angry. You want them around for as long as possible but they don't seem to care. All the best to you and your little family. At least you got each other.

Big ((HUGS)) being sent to you and your family. So sorry for your loss. It's hard losing a parent, never mind two of them. Sending you strength and comfort to help you thru this. You have made such a HUGE impact on so many people who are inspired by you. It's hard when it comes to family and changing their eating lifestyle. I come from a huge family and not one of them is interested in changing their eating lifestyle, even slightly! It saddens me because there's so much disease (cancer, heart issues and other sickness). All I can do, is know I did my best in explaining my 'why' and how it would help them but it went went to deaf ears. Bill and I will continue to eat this lifestyle and feel so blessed that we found you as we LOVE your channel and the membership and all the healthy & delicious recipes. You inspire us to live our best lives. Marc & PJ are so lucky! Love you! 💙😘🙏

I lost my father when he was 64 to cancer while I was in my mid 20s so he never had the chance to meet his grandkids from me either. My mom's health went progressively downhill after his death, and while she met both my children, I don't feel like she was able to fully participate in being a grandmother due to her health. Their deaths were not heart disease related but who knows if a WFPB lifestyle would have helped them. Thank you for your heartfelt message.

It's a cruel irony that you are a gifted teacher on this subject, and your family wasn't able to take it in. I'm sorry. I appreciate so much what you do for others. I'm sorry for your loss.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for this beautiful message! You are 100% right. We need to be selfless and selfish to live healthily for our loved ones! My Dad passed away at 50 years old because of cancer caused by his being obese. I never want my kids to go through the grief that I did….not if I can help it. 😔. Thank you for the motivation, and the delicious recipes!

I’m so sorry for your loss. Not much heart disease in my family but we have one of the mutations that causes cancer and to the extent I can fight it, WFPB is a step in the right direction.
