- Having now been using my Ecoflow Delta Pro for a few months I've put it through it's paces to say the least.

Did not mention it once. There is a massive influenser campaign by Ecoflow at the moment. At least other youtubers will state that they got sent the units for free. It clears any doubts right away, and makes the channel seem more honest. I have no problem with youtubers getting free cool stuff and showing us the great ways that it can be used. But when you don´t state unambiguously thats you were sent the items for free, it becomes shady. It´s a shame, I really like the channel.. disapointed.
Reality is that you tubers have to make a living and he is no different, if it is combined with interesting content (and this channel almost always is) then what is the problem. Does it matter how he got it, find some comments a bit not picky...simple do not subscribe do not watch, think the channel has grown rapidly because the videos and content are good watching, plus he comes across as a genuine bloke and no doubt is still learning the ropes.

Yeah agree, this thing is expensive! Would be better to state it was an advert rather than something he’d bought.
I've been looking at these for a while and think they're great and will definitely be getting one. I do however think it's remiss not to mention in the video how expensive these units and the associated accessories are. It's a big outlay.

Always disappointing when an excellent channel has its head turned to the darkside. I come here for the value for money affordable tips, £3.5k aint affordable....unless I pop to a service station and ahem...just plug in my old tower looking laptop.
Solid design and build
I've installed solar panels for my house last year. I'm very happy with them. I was thinking about paying more for battery backup, so I don't need to buy elecricity at night, but it was just too expensive to justify the costs. I'm gonna definietly reconsider it once those solutions get cheaper!
We had solar panels installed 6 years ago and have just had a second larger array with battery backup installed a couple of weeks ago. You're right, the batteries are expensive and I worked out that charging overnight on economy 7 and using during the day / evening had something like a 20 year payback.
What I am finding though is that the batteries are capturing excess solar and releasing it in the day, so even in winter I'm saving solar electricity that otherwise would go back into the grid
I've a 4kw solar array installed in 2016 for 6k, which diverts surplus to hot water and we are virtually 24/7 365 days a year free hot water. Over past 2 years I bought allpowers versions of solar generatoes 1k each, I've 5 now, why? Well this global farce is likely to continue for years, but I also. Have a motoorhome, so my initial thoughts was AC power on the road, which I get with one and sometimes 2 travelling with me. No campsites in UK and Europe at all. Secondly the units I have are used to power the basics such as TV nightly, fridge and freezer standbye for power outage, and kids PCs That draw 100w pH daily generally saving me 1500 to 3000w per day. Tv saves me on average 100w per hour during usage. These are better in my view due to portability, flexibility in use and can be charged independently of domestic solar array, using 4 provided. Solar portable panels. By no means cheap but a tesla wall isn't also and the guarantee on some alternatives is questionable. My bills are now a month are 35 quid, which is mainly the standing charge which I can't avoid. Ecoflow are a good system, I'd love to have their new system but I'm waiting for drop in price to be competitive to

BUT, when this is a paid for promo don’t word as if you purchased the thing. It starts to put people off and makes you look slightly dishonest. They sent you the item to advertise just be upfront from the start. And no one is spending that amount of money on that thing in reality.

Yup, this isn't the first either. Obvious affiliate link in the description. The video should be tagged as paid promotion. Shame really, I used to recommend this channel. I'm not watching a whole ad, but does he even mention the price? He didn't with that obvious lawn mower ad a while back.
The question you didn't answer is would you spend £3500 of your own money on one or would you just spend a couple of hundred on some decent industrial power cables to run power to your paddock...
More like £5000 with the solar panels and additional battery!

@@hisnameisworthy7886 the difference is the horrible customer care from bluetti. i am waiting 2monts for delivery from them and they do not respond to any problem..you can read reviews about them. cheaper only by about 10% to similar size product.
The voltage rise on that motor which causes your shed lights to dim can be ameliorated some by inserting a capacitor in front of the motor. The cap will charge when plugged in and the generator will pull power from the cap which will compensate for the rise before powering from the mains. The rise voltage needs to be determined, then apply some maths and electrical engineering knowledge to determine which capacity capacitor you require, some simple wiring and Bob's your Uncle, no more dimming.
And if I remember my early years, you can test if it is charged with your tongue PP9 anyone?
Hopefully, as more and more people start purchasing these products and the company grows, the price will eventually become more realistic and affordable to more people.
Think you've missed the mark on this one, can't imagine a use for this for the average Proper DIYer, even more so at what will tot up to be over 4 and a half grand

Ecoflow seem to be giving these out like water - must be the 8th or 9th YTuber I've seen with one - wish they's give me one at three and half grand a pop. As suggested I'm not sure that the battery technology used wont be redundant fairly soon>
Warning: You may only get half the power out of what you put in !!.
You might think charge it up at the night rate and use it to power things during the day - thus save the difference - if only.
If you are powering 'resistive' type equipment - electric heaters you'll get what you put in - minus DC/AC conversion loses.
However the issue comes when you power equipment with a low power factor, pf. Anything with motors, fridge, freezer, computers (security system) with a switched mode power supply will typically have low pf's - down to 0.41.
When powered from the mains you are only charged for 'Real Power' and thus effectively not charged for the losses incurred from powering low pf equipment. Industry pay extra when running low pf equipment - but as yet not the consumer.
A fully charged EcoFlow unit has to provide both the losses from the DC to AC conversion but also the losses due to the low pf - thus a 0.5 pf equipment will only give you half the units rated power ouch!
Thus with the charging losses on top, 20%, don't expect savings by charging at night and use by day.
Even if there were savings to be made it would take you several lifetimes to get back the cost of the unit!

It's for 1) power redundancy if the grid is down 2) portability over a large property or in vehicles 3) a storage system for solar panels 4) quiet alternative to a petrol generator. You also don't use a petrol generator during the night to save money.

The Ecoflow products do look good and could be useful however not for me due to the price. Also you do need to reflect on the cost and if this has been gifted. I have seen many other UA-camrs do videos on Ecoflow so I don’t blame but it’s needs to be mentioned.
At £3500 that's what I call one helluva waste of money. Its not for the average DIYer but only for the very well off. And to say it'll replace the petrol powered small generators is absolutely absurd and irresponsible.
These battery powered super toys look good on paper But who actually looks at what did it take to make it?
They're not eco friendly at all. Why? Because of the maga Watts of power needed to make the batteries from digging up the precious metals etc etc.
it takes 10times more energy dig transport and refine the oil...

I suddenly see a lot of woodworking en DYI channels push these portable batteries. They must be paying well..
First one of your videos that has disappointed. No mention of cost, or whether you got it free in return for a review. Other comments mention cost vs petrol or diesel generators and I have to agree. I looked at these electric power banks and decided it simply wasn’t worth it for me, for DIY use and in case of power cuts.
The only real benefit I can see for these electric power banks is if you need power indoors and can’t run a cable through a cat flap (my plan) as you don’t want to risk carbon monoxide poisoning.
I don’t buy into the ‘save the environment’ aspect due to the need to mine (and eventually dispose of) highly poisonous elements for the batteries.
Some people still believe that oil dont need to be mine transportet and refine at big energy cost. battery already recyclable at 95% currently.
What I like best about that Delta Pro is that I can get a separate Smart Generator and charge it whenever the solar panels can't get enough sun.
This is the system I could definitely use for my home since it has 3600Wh of capacity.
I have had a smaller power station for a while a Jackery . Can charge up via a solar panel in the garden in the summer or my solar charger battery in my van . I have a fixed solar panel on top of my van charging a li-lo lightweight battery handy when travelling. To charge things. Solar charging is good in UK in summer not in winter . Having lived in Kent I am now in Scotland. Looks like the thing described can power anything . I use my Jackery to power my TV at home , it lasts a few hours. A battery back up is much better than candles 🕯️ and the fire risks . If you have a power cut.
3.5 thousand quid is laughable, give me a generator. Simple
These power packs will be out of date in a year or so . New battery technology is coming soon , so if you need one now it’s a good idea but I would suggest people keep hold of their cash for a while if your not desperate for one.
I looked at these as a means to harvest cheaper overnight electricity. 6000 charge/discharge cycles at today's prices would save me £1200 over 16.4 years. I'll just put the extra £2400 onto my energy account!
when you charge it with solar (what they are design for) you get the money back in 8years.

Not sure if you got supplied unit or you paid for it with your own money. I purchased a river unit for my small workshop (shed) and it can run small power tools and charge all my batteries without any problem. It is hooked up to one solar panel which this time of year is quite useless. However after the last cold spell unit failed completely. Ecoflow were very helpful and unit has been returned so just waiting to see if I will get a refund and or new unit. Did it put me off having/using one certainly not.

I've thought about it myself and still thinking about how I'm going to connect. I want to use the Smart Panel that'll switch over to the Ecoflow if your supplier decides to pull the plug.

The problem with this is they do not want you to recharge quickly from solar cause in Uk to get sunny day is a miracle as soon there is sunny enough you need to run to charge Ecoflow🤪🤭😆

A 6kw diesel generator 1000 quid, 15 hours on a tank of off-road diesel, Runs the house for days or weeks if it was total grid down situation. The battery stuff is overpriced and only lasts a few years maybe 10 at a push. The diesel generator lasts for decades. And what if you don't have power for days would the solar system recharge it as your using it, I doubt it. Maybe there ok for use in a built up area, but they won't give reliable and consistent power.

It is not overpriced - all these electronic components are expensive. But it's possibilities and usefulness are overestimated
Diesel doesn't grow on trees either. If you are off grid, a solar panel is very handy. No, it's not a complete replacement for a generator, but for many things this comes in very useful. Camping, campervans and powering cabins for instance. On jobsites it can be useful too, like in this video or working in odd places on a property or in houses where there is no power. A generator can do a lot of those things too, but sometimes noise and emissions are a problem and for some things a bit more sophisticated power is good too.

@@davesheffield3620 Definitely an investment. Mine arrives today. I decided I needed off grid solar to be able to protect my chickens from bears (electric fencing) if there's a power outage. We have daily visitations from grizzly and black bears at the end of summer.

I’m not sure I’d be comfortable charging a battery of that size in my house. I used to charge an electric scooter in the house but having seen what happens when the charge cycle goes wrong I am very cautious of very high capacity lithium batteries now.

Any simple benefit analysis would show that diesel or petrol would be much cheaper, last many years longer and kinder to the environment . If you are given one for free that maths may alter, nevertheless the views expressed are at best misleading

Mmm, but you did not mention the cost compared with generator. There’s a big difference; I checked after Roger Bisby did a similar promo. What can go wrong over time with these sophisticated electronic devices compared with an IC engine running on petrol, red diesel or propane. How can you recharge it in your shed? 5 litres of petrol is a lot lighter to carry than a 3.6kWh battery.

Overpriced, yes, but like all technology it will come down in price as they become more mainstream.
Batteries won't last as long as a diesel generator/combustion engines ,Wrong, having worked for Toyota for 10 years on there electric cars and used Ni-Cd, NiMH and LiPo batteries in RC cars on and off for 20 plus years batteries if charged ,maintained and stored correctly will last decades.
Is battery power and technology the future, reluctantly yes, all the environmental damage is caused by the manufacturing process of batteries It is considered buy some that an electric vehicle creates almost as much environmental damage as a combustion engine Car ,Personally I think Battery power is a short term solution until the next thing comes along what that is I have no clue 🤷🏻
A diesel generator will last longer than a battery pack it doesn't degrade with age or use as fast as a battery can. My neighbour works for a Toyota dealer and they are replacing batteries on 12 year old Prius with about 230,000kms, and what hey are small units. These new batteries have no long term proof that they last. Fully electric cars are failing at 250,000km with bigger batteries.
@@brendanc5519 Everything has a shelf life, I'm no longer working for Toyota so can't say, I only ever replaced 1 in my time, but it's obvious that some may fail or not last as long as excepted, and the same can be said for combustion engines as they fail as well, and suffer wear and tear if not maintained, and maintenance of any engine is require throughout there life to continue to work at there optimum. I'm not for or against either, happy to agree to disagree.

Charging Lithium batteries inside is a fire risk - which is why EV owners tend to charge their cars outside due to the fire risk. If you have a EV fire you will NOT put it out with a fire extinguisher!! Even the people with a large red vehicle have problems putting out a EV battery fire.
So what about all those house batteries that are attached to / integrated with solar systems in garages/cupboards/attics?
Every mobile phone has a lithium battery in it, do you charge yours out in the garden?
They are all fine.
@@fraz3alpha Its all a matter of how much 'risk' you want to take. Some EV fires in a garage have resulted in the whole house been burnt down!! Remember to tell your insurance company if you have Lithium batteries in the garage or in the house. Failure to tell your Insurance company may invalidate your House Insurance policy.
The risk of lithium batteries in phones is small.
Remember the risk in any lithium battery will depend on the quality of its components and type of construction - space / type of spacing between each of the battery cells.
I would put a Lithium battery for a solar system outside - maybe a fireboard cover on top.
@@rtreborg8472 Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries do not have this problem.
@@assortedmountainlife Lithium Ion Phosphate are only 'less prone' to explosions and fires. It is totally wrong to say they do not have this problem.
Also be aware that EV car manufacturers use different battery chemistry's. The lower performance ones have moved to the Lithium Ion Phosphate, but the higher performance ones still use the older Lithium Ion technology because they give a higher energy density.
Remember it is always about evaluating the risk factor and what risk you are willing to take.
