    Gotta love that Joerg is a crossbow/slingshot/kinetic weapon fanboy first, engineer second. He gets as giddy as a kid with a toy as soon as he has a functional model; and he designed it!
    Great design on this one, in all of its configurations. The ease of assembly/disassembly makes this a very practical "backpack" weapon, for both pre and post Zombie Apocalypse use.

      I dont think it is much of a weapon, more a fun target shooting piece. The bow part is small, its fast and easy to cock, and the bolts are small. I doubt it has energy to kill anything bigger than a rabbit.

    If I may, red dots are actually mounted farther forward toward the middle of your rail. Since they are made to shoot with both eyes open, having that field of vision around the optic is what makes them great.

      I'm no Jorge, but from the size and tension length I'm estimating ~10kg of draw force (so, around 75J of energy, because energy transfer is never perfect, so I'm estimating 25% loss), and bolts weigh a scant under 10g according to the manufacturer, so it can't exceed 122m/s or 400 fps. Realistically, I'd say it's under 200 fps.

    Joerg, one thing I have not seen with bow & arrow and crossbow tests is adding a lubricant to the bolt head to increase penetration. Firearms use a barrel so these options are limited. But I think adding a very light coat of a Teflon or moly grease to the points will greatly improve penetration.

    At 4:301 you stated that you should always mount a red dot as far back as possible. This not true, with any 1X red dot you always shoot with both eyes open so you have a wider field of view. With the dot mounted out away from your eye, it makes it much easier to shoot at moving targets, much like a skeet or trap shotgun.

    • @Yesnaught

    Ist sicher Vorliebe, was einem besser liegt.
    Die unterschiedlichen Lauf Aufsätze sind ne coole Sache.

    I have to correct you on where red dot optics go, you don't want them all the way back close to your face as the body of the optic obscures your peripheral vision. The goal is to have your red dot as far away from your eye as possible while having it close enough that you can easily find the dot within the optics glass. If you see how most people place the optic on a rifle it's usually not on the closest picatinny slot to your eye.

    • @Chicky_Lumps
      @Chicky_Lumps 9 місяців тому

      I actually wasn't aware of this, but I _did_ immediately notice the dot sight was on the freely moving part of the rail. Shouldn't any sight go on the foreward section of rail that's fixed to the barrel?

    • @morrius0757
      @morrius0757 9 місяців тому +1

      @@Chicky_LumpsYes, red dots should b placed where they won't move. For example on ARs you place it as close to the barrel as possible without it going onto the hand guard "why you don't put it on the top of the hand guard is because hand guards can rotate and shift over time throwing off your zero." You never want a red dot very close to your face, scopes on the other hand are an exception because they have something known as eye relief and eye box where if it's not at the right distance of your eye, you can't see through it properly.

    Looks really good. I like the package.
    What interest me really with a crossbow kind of weapon if a longer arrow guidance in front of the end of the bow really has any effect on accuracy. It sure will slow the arrow down a little bit. It's not like a longer barrel in a rifle will give the bullet more length to be accelerated. Can't wait for a comparison test. My guess is it's really neglectable and all comes down to style preference if you want the longer or shorter version.

    It would be great if you could include a barrel attachment that has a fixed light and laser combination built into it. German law explicitly only outlaws lights and lasers if their purpose is to be attached to a firearm. If you make the mount proprietary (or sometimes even just sell the part with the picatinny mount as purposed for this crossbow, I had the same thing cleared from my local weapons bureau for a JPX jet protector with their light sold to be mounted), you could sell this with a light and laser attachment which would greatly improve this for night time and "bump in the night" use
