If this had another internal pully for reloading, connected to a foldable pull-out handle with more leverage then this would be 10 times better, you could maybe even fit some form of magazine in there or at least a bolt reserve maybe. Could even have a foldable foot saddle at the front and then have two arms pop out to pull the string back, it might have too much tension to pull it without a winder though. Definitely need to advance how we reload them.
Joerg: a vaguely interesting design, but I’m not impressed with this overly complicated and ponderous single shot crossbow. Your designs are far more impressive and innovative as well as being accessible to the backyard builder.
Lol CTFU blocked snatch block guy. I want to see this crossbow mounted with his repeating platform he made with a electric drill motor and battery to reload it... Then it would be a high powered repeating quick bow of death would be the best thing ever!
pera stotigautera yes, far from traditional & less practical than new CO2 self cocking ones. Thanks but I’ll keep my Tomahawk SS Diamond, classic recurves & compound.
I would really reckomed you take a good look at the Benjiman air powered bow, i think for hunting it leaves many other bits of gear for dead, it has a huge speed count and does not weigh a ton. It is nicely finished off , and because there is no string involved there is not the same dry fire problem as with all limbed bows, really worth taking a look at, when it comes to home defence, its fast to reload and something thats better to be behind than in front of.
I am really surprised no one has designed a crossbow or a springbow like this with a really powerful motor that is battery operated. That automatically recocks the weapon right after you shoot. This way you load the bow and shoot and immediately and automatically the motor turns on and recocks it. That way by time you lower the bow to reload it is already recocked. This would save you a lot of time and energy and allow you to essentially shoot the bow every 5 or so seconds. You could either use a battery or battery and ultra capacitor to charge/load super fast. This would be a really effective and awesome weapon. Hell you could even add an auto loader of sorts haha.

honestly its pretty decent for what else is available on the crossbow market. With Joerg's signature 'draw assist' on this thing, it'll have less power, but reload MUCH faster.
Why not have it built in? Then a small brushless motor attached to the winch could be used instead. Hell he could even put one of his arrow magazines from his other repeating bows on it at that point.
@@brianmincher716 it would be good if you loaded it before you're in your tree stand. Loading it when you're up in a tree would be cumbersome. Look how awkward it was having all that room and a table to set it on.
I can imagine that you Will improve this design with instant legolas tech and rubber based with rollers to have a narrow profile, light weight and fast reloading capability
He could probably concoct some sort of pump-action on this thing, but than the magazine would be in front of his eyes, so I'd have to either load form below, or the side. Look, if anyone can reproduce spring-based weapon out of plywood, it's God Emperor Joreg.
That's a superb design, I thought of something like this in concept, but their implementation is magnificent and professional, I wondered how long it would take before someone actually made something like this. I would call it a spear gun though, I know it fires arrows/bolts still, but it truly has no cross limbs. It's beautiful. I love the engineering of it, plus that's also why I watch the channel. That and you of course.
@@otov100 It still retains its limbs but no longer has its cruciform that gave crossbows their name. I don't remember seeing a gunpowder based spear gun. They're usually always elastic or compressed air/liquid CO2 if you have the money.
@@midgetman4206 You are correct. I have never been spear fishing and I just assumed they would use a charge like a bang stick. There are a few that have been made that way but generally just one offs. Larger harpoon cannons do use a power charge. Maybe call it a coil bow?
As nice as this is, I had its predecessor almost 40 years ago. it had a wood stock and use the same type of coil spring tension. great design and silly powerful.
I think the better the crossbow becomes the more reasonable it would be to enlarge the guaranteed base damage, like, 1d6 +4 (then adding on character multipliers)
I love the smart, innovative, slim design but it looks like somewhat of a hassle to re-cock it...If they could somehow incorporate the crank internally and make it faster I would give them my money. At the moment the more traditional limb design is still a better hunting option IMO..Thank you for showing us this creative bow though!
Yea, I think the compact design of the newer reverse limb crossbows are a lot more practical for hunting especially still hunting or hunting from a blind, but the long power stroke gives this crossbow a much longer range than a standard crossbow as the longer arrows will have more stability. It might be a decent option for hunting out west because of that feature...
4473021 you’d need a battery for that and batteries get heavy. You’d need something with a lot of torque also and it’ll be hard to get something light and compact with a battery and it’s already 13 lbs
It's innovative, but totally non-practical and overpriced... Engineering-wise, it needs 4 perfectly balanced springs so it is never going to be as accurate as a limb crossbow either, especially as the 4 individual springs age and things start to get unbalanced.. At 13 pounds and over a minute to load (with the most awkward crank to attach and remove and a stupid set of safety pliers- really?), poorly designed stock, it's about the least practical device I've ever seen.. It's not even that "cool" looking to make up for all its shortcomings.. And at 350 fps, it's also totally unimpressive given its very long power stroke: there are many faster bows out there, and they all accomplish their faster speeds in lighter packages with shorter power strokes and can also do it with heavier arrows as well. You couldn't pay me to use this contraption..
i cant imagine anything worse then dealing with that thin string to cock it...wow dose that look like a mess. nice idea but that winch is just horrible.
It's a beauty, and I wish you luck on the repeating version of it I'm hoping the company that made it works with you on designing the repeating version of it, and I wonder how that would work with solid stainless steel heavy bolts rather than carbon fiber or fiberglass

**Dog sniffing the ground nonchalantly**
**Joerg talks about coil-based instant Legolas**
*Dog:* "Now you has my attention"
If this had another internal pully for reloading, connected to a foldable pull-out handle with more leverage then this would be 10 times better, you could maybe even fit some form of magazine in there or at least a bolt reserve maybe. Could even have a foldable foot saddle at the front and then have two arms pop out to pull the string back, it might have too much tension to pull it without a winder though. Definitely need to advance how we reload them.
This man gets a cool sniper rifle pulley crossbow thing. Immediatly *Let's make it full auto with a magazine. Hahahaha.*

Joerg: a vaguely interesting design, but I’m not impressed with this overly complicated and ponderous single shot crossbow.
Your designs are far more impressive and innovative as well as being accessible to the backyard builder.
John Thom Which means he is going to modify it.
Come on, even Joerg is impressed with lenghth of its pulley system
I would leave the winch in and set the front on top of sight for a fast load time
Ponderous? Do you see the length of stroke
Now that you mention it, agreed.
Not gonna lie, i thought this was one of those "different but worse" inventions. It's very clear to me now how wrong i was.

Lol CTFU blocked snatch block guy. I want to see this crossbow mounted with his repeating platform he made with a electric drill motor and battery to reload it... Then it would be a high powered repeating quick bow of death would be the best thing ever!
I can already make a few adjustments that they overlooked, like a powered, not needed to be removed winch.
This is basically the most expensive, impractical" arrow launcher" to have ever been crafted!
pera stotigautera yes, far from traditional & less practical than new CO2 self cocking ones.

Yeah that airgun arrow launcher thing is cool

The reloading system looks cumbersome.
honestly its pretty decent for what else is available on the crossbow market. With Joerg's signature 'draw assist' on this thing, it'll have less power, but reload MUCH faster.
Draw assist doesn't reduce power.
Joe Nanamous this would be brilliant for a tree stand, what are you talking about? It’s no longer, and much narrower than a traditional crossbow.

Ya. I feel like he bought it so he could study the design and try to improve it.
He could probably concoct some sort of pump-action on this thing, but than the magazine would be in front of his eyes, so I'd have to either load form below, or the side. Look, if anyone can reproduce spring-based weapon out of plywood, it's God Emperor Joreg.
I sure hope so, even if its significantly less powerful a pump-action arrow thrower with no "bow" sounds like it would be super fun.

Its limbs are just coiled up instead of (mostly) straight like other bows. Spear guns use an explosive charge to propel the spear much like a firearm.
I can see how the cocking mechanism should/could be integrated into the chassis, and at that price tag it should be.

This made me appreciate the instant Legolas even more
Cmon Joerg, make a lever action, self repeating, limbless bolt caster! We'll all buy it!!
Just stick a motor on the crank hue
This thing is begging for a battery assist cocking mechanism.
@Lucid999 456 wow lol
@Lucid999 456 lmfao that was perfect

My cocking is done naturally. By hand!!!
i cant imagine anything worse then dealing with that thin string to cock it...wow dose that look like a mess. nice idea but that winch is just horrible.
“You see how long that power stroke is.”
I bet Joerg has said that in multiple situations. XD
It's a beauty, and I wish you luck on the repeating version of it I'm hoping the company that made it works with you on designing the repeating version of it, and I wonder how that would work with solid stainless steel heavy bolts rather than carbon fiber or fiberglass
