      @@TheBondExperience Don't know why there have been such huge gaps under Craig. They were very regular from Connery to Brosnan. Apart from the 89-95 gap.
      They can't say making a Bond film is a massive operation. They have always been massive.
      Suspect Barbara Brocoli is not as dynamic & motivated as Cubby. She inherited the franchise, rather than wanted it.

    • @adamcollins915
      @adamcollins915 4 роки тому +1

      There will probably be two Bond movies in quick succession when a new Bond actor is chosen. As happened with Moore, Dalton, Brosnan & Craig. To get the public used to the new actor.

    • @mp1314
      @mp1314 4 роки тому

      Wouldn’t go as far as to link the time gap to Barbara ... 1) she has been involved not just since yesterday (I believe since TLD in 87), but was in fact in charge during the Brosnan years with their 2year rhythm 2) Michal G Wilson would be equally to blame, but he has been a driving force since FYEO and hence was responsible for 5+ movies with a 2 year gap

    • @adamcollins915
      @adamcollins915 4 роки тому

      @@mp1314 Maybe Michael J Wilson has lost enthusiasm.
      Doubt that Craig would have wanted to make a Bond film every 2 years. Too restrictive. He's a thespian. Was in his 30's when he got the part, so BB & MJW still got 5 films from him.

    I grew up with Pierce Bronson as Bond, and I never noticed the 90's fashion trends the first time watching, such as baggy clothes. Then in contrast DC had clothes that were too tight (once again a trend at the time). The most classic and timeless suiting was early SC. All of this I realised after re-watching films. That's the beauty of watching Bond films numerous times over the years, you notice different nuances each time you watch.

    Imo Sean Connery was the real bond ,he looked as though he'd smash your face in if you upset him but with Roger it was so chezy the silly little jokes ect imo took bond to the lowest but it got worse untill Daniel Craig brought back the real purpose of a secret agent with a license to kill and looks as though he could kill and not flinch or worry at all...hope the next bond plays it seriously with smart English clobber and car.

    Roger Moore certainly does have class as well as being very well dressed, and definitely comes across as a gentleman but he was incredibly sleazy at times, particularly with women. So much so that my wife refuses to watch him. And I'm told that some of the cheesy sexy lines were actually written by Roger Moore. Also his body is rather flabby for an MI6 agent. Flabby as in no muscle tone (whereas Sean Connery and Daniel Craig have strong fit bodies). All of my friends and acquaintances that cite Roger Moore as their favourite Bond all have one thing in common ;They are all single! However I am told that Roger Moore was a true gentleman in real life. I saw Live & Let Die when I was 11 or 12 and was totally blown away. The watches and the whole exotic flavour as well as the danger and gadgets totally captured me at that age. The Roger Moore era was pretty amazing for gadgets and watches, and had some good humour particularly with that chubby southern American cop who was absolutely hilarious. I agree with your comments re Diamonds are Forever, even some of the character's names were sleazy.

    Thank you Both for a very enjoyable first part .... I agree with most of what you both covered ...As a Uk ref, I have to say DC clothing choices for Bond look like he has been thrown through a branch of Selfridges .... Suits too tight , casual wear shabby with a high price tag ... He was ok on Casino Royale ( Brioni/Sunseeker) but clearly once he was a success in that first movie , he wanted his own ideas on the look of Bond ... I'm not a fan of his choices and merging his private style with Bonds....apart from the Crocket and Jones selection .. Those are fine shoes :)

    Dear David. I just made this suggestion to Being James Bond, but thought I'd reprint it here for you also. How about if you and Being James Bond did a critique on the Directors of Bond movies? Specifically, just as you theorized that the actors' first and last Bond films were either his best or worst, how about doing the same with the Directors who helmed more than one Bond film? Terrance Young, Guy Hamilton, Lewis Gilbert, etc. Just a suggestion.

    Both channels put out great content.
    It’s amazing how much better Connery looked in Never Say Never Again - he looked fit. You’re right that the film felt sleazy - must have had to do with the Las Vegas location.
    Sir Roger’s wardrobe in L&LD was impeccable but the Daniel Craig’s Tom Ford suit doesn’t drape - it’s cut too close to the body. PoW was a great pattern choice, however. Something more along the lines of Cary Grant’s NxNW suit would be great. Give him a Royal Navy tie and he’ll be good to go.

    Yeah, not a fan of DAF. The moon buugy sequence just not Connery, and Fashion, eh. But Moore had some great momments as Bond. Great style, his White coat in backgammon scene in Octopussy was great. And Octopussy was a great film, aside from tarzan yell. One of better villian schemes. The whole using circus to smuggle, only to use her circus fo their nefarious scheme, of detonating a nuclear device on an US base in Germany, causing unalateral dissarmament.
