Lot of comments on the mic and *yeah* its not great, but I guess I've never really heard anything that beats this in an entry level wireless headset? I just kind of accept that's what you're gonna get on this end of the price spectrum. But I'm definitely open to suggestions if you've got something out there that has killer mic performance in a wireless headset at the $100-125 range. Lmk! Also really good comment from @KreativEcke about the HS80 using Corsair's Slipstream wireless for the mic as well and that's why it sound so much better. Great stuff!
Have you tried the RIG line of wireless headsets? Currently using the RIG 800HDs for my wireless pair, they might be small for you though. Edit: RIG was acquired by Nacon from Plantronics so I have no idea how the new headsets sound as opposed to the headsets that were made by Plantronics.
The case of the headphones just dissappear in your head is so true. I used (it's back at home, I'm not in my home country for 4 years) the Astro A40 TR and what I loved about them is that in my use case and with my physical build (they are a little heavier compared with this one) they just dissappear in my head during use. It was a joy in the long hours of The Division grind with friends in the Dark Zone.
I had gotten the HS55 Stereo when they came out last year and loved them; in terms of the earpad comfort and clamp force, the sound, and the design especially. But I never used them much because I didn't really find myself gaming with wired headsets. Now might be a good time to dish them to a friend and upgrade.
That HS80 mic was scarily good, would have been dope to see them stretch for it on the more budget offerings because its definitely a low point, but yeah on the whole this is just a really good roundup for the 65. The SoundID feature is pretty tight, I think that has a lot of potential for products even outside of these. Awesome coverage homie
Definitely can hear the lack of Slipstream wrecking the quality on this mic, unfortunate corners had to be cut like that! Quality vid once again though, keen for what comes next
Just love your work, man. I've picked up a number of items based on your reviews and you've been spot on every time. As it's somewhat relevent here I'll mention I got a corsair virtuoso set and love them. You were right about the small ear cups, but I rarely wear them for long sessions. But the sound quality is great and the mic is top notch. Keep up the great work and congrats on 350k. It's well earned!
I'm most excited about the amp/dac review coming in the pipeline. I hope it's still in the works. I bought the Beyerdynamic Tygr 300r and I'm holding to see a good amp/dac to pair it with.
I came for a review on the HS65 but ended up buying the HS80 because of that mic segment! the HS65 is actually MORE expensive right now. I just got a pair of HS80's for £87.99!! reduced from £159.99 to £109.99 and i had a 25% mobile phone and accessories voucher for amazon (that they gave the first 1000 people to claim it) which brought it to £87.99. So happy after hearing that mic quality.
7:49 Razer has the Barracuda X 2022 Model which is around 90 bucks that has both RF and Bluetooth, but i don't think its quality is comparable to these HS's
just a note that has nothing to do with the headset, not a fan of this background music, its a bit to busy and i found it was hard to pay attention fully to what you were saying because of the constant vocals fighting for air time in the back ground. Love the vids just thought id add some constructive criticism.
I tried the HS80 based on your last review roundup. Use for work was good, but directional sound for gaming was not good. I woulda returned them but gave em to my sis. I didn’t dig icue battery life display. Pass on Corsair.
@@ram100677 I play a lot of competitive shooters like R6 or Valorant with the hs80's and never felt this way. What sound profile did you use most of the time?
@@bluesonicgamer71 the hs80 headset would automatically switch to the FPS profile, i think. Like it auto detects what the user is doing to some degree. I had Steelseries Arctic 9 pro wireless before and never had any issues like i had with hs80. I’ll just switch back to the new Arctic 9 or 7. I’ll pass on corsair headsets for now.

The issue with corsair products here in Indonesia is that they're not exactly the best product available and there is always something better for cheaper. And it applies to just about all peripherals whether it's gaming mice, keyboards or headsets. It's the same with this headset because if what you want is a wireless headset with bluetooth, you can get a good one for 50. I think the only way for corsair to finally get back on these market is to make something truly amazing or make something new and different from what we get in the market. Anyway greetings from Indonesia, love your content, hope you'll hit 400k the way my homies hit me from the back each night
@@m1met i bought them, but i have to change them becouse of my audio card, that ruins voice in them, and no, microphone doent work better when cable is plugged in :)
I don’t know if you have tried them, but I would love to see a review on the HiFiMan Edition XS and how you think they perform for comp FPS and music? I have a big head (which I know you say you do as well) and would also be interested in your opinion on their comfort. As always man, amazing video!
SoundID is awesome, but it is DEFINITELY hit or miss with the pre-made EQ’s for headphones. Found it makes too many of my headphone sound “FLAT” in the boring sense (yes I know there is literally a flat EQ, but even the flat EQ shouldn’t really pull all the life from a headphone). Cool that SoundID is a feature though, it is really cool when it works. On my speakers it is an absolute GAME CHANGER.
You mentioned somehting along the line of no Bluetooth in around that price range I think the newer version of the blackshark x has it and it was around 90-100$ and the version from the year before without Bluetooth was about 50$ when I got it. I just thought that its worth to mention.
First of all....Exelent chanel and exelent presentation as allways...Keep a good work brother.... 🙂🙏💪😉 And Question...... What is that shooter game that you play? :D
There's no USP for these , baracuda x has that usb c dongle , inzone h7 goes for sale for ~$130 here with better sidetone , ps5 connectivity .. if this had same mic as hs80 then it would've been the winner in category
I’m not sure 🤔 what changed but they used to include some sort of noise cancellation or filter even on your most basic cheap gaming headsets when playing on Console PS5, Series X. Now even if you spend $700 for a gaming headset to use on the next gen Consoles they all lack any kind of noise cancellation/ filtering when used for Console gaming. Yes I know the Series X has built in noise cancellation now but that only applies if your in a party not regular game chat 💬. Why noise cancellation only applies to computer gaming now is really confusing, because it never used to be that way during the PS4 Pro, Xbox One X generation.
I know my younger brother swears by corsair headsets. This is interesting. I’ll show him this video. Nice review. Glad to see you’re uploading regularly again! Stay Up! 🫡
HS80 mic is phenomenal, but the rest of the headset is mid. I owned a set for 9 months before the plastic band in the center started cracking on me under normal use conditions. I do not have a wide head or beat up my equipment. I also hated the implementation of the elastic headband as the set is too heavy with light clamping force and it was always sliding forward on me. Just kind of a junky headset with "ok" sound quality. The Arctis Nova Pro's are a worthy step up in every aspect of sound quality except microphone. I EQ all my headsets to my taste and the HS80 just does not compare. Props to Corsair for at least giving you loud volume levels even if they're not exceptionally clear or enjoyable... at least they're trying.
I wish there were more good options for Xbox. I have been looking and it seems everyone has some major flaw at any price point. Hoping the Audeze Maxwell breaks the trend, but unlikely.
Was actually just reading a reply that said the HS80 is using their Slipstream wireless and that accounts for the increased quality.
