Good analysis. But you need to know your 25hydroxy. 2000iu D3 will not move the dial alot. 30 ng/ml is recommended but over 60 is needed for optimal health. You need a supplement to reach this normally. MDs are always saying D is important but try to scare people with hypercalcemia which can occur at levels above 40000iu D3. Another aspect is autoimmune and cancer patients have low D and need more. I disagree D2 and D3 are absorbed equally. D2 is plant based while D3 is animal based. We are not herbivores. Increased D and iodine improve health and reduce cancer risk.
@@MattSamson83 true, but it is a poor substitute. Get the 25hydroxy checked. Vitamin D is fat soluble and should be taken with a fatty meal. Adding magnesium will increase absorption.
You got that right!! From my research, cancer patients have single digit D3 blood levels!! That is why OPTIMAL DOSING WITH D3 IS VITAL FOR PREVENTION OF DISEASES, ESPECIALLY, CANCER!!
Most informative-particularly that health authorities only recommend very low doses -probably insufficient. I wonder why? Unhealthy people create paying customers! Great studies to back up your statements about vitamin Ds power and purpose
I'd love to ask him - if 2000 or 3000 iu of normal Vit D3 is a good daily dose, what about if you take it as Calcifidiol? ie: Is 2000 iu of calcifidiol the same as 2000 iu of Cholecalcifidiol ???
I don't like the idea of fortification of foods even though the intentions are good. I have a problem with toxic levels of vitamin A, and can not even use dairy substitutes because every single one of them is fortified with vitamin A. I would also like to hear a discussion about the very important antagonistic relationship between vitamin D and vitamin A.
Fairly good, but incomplete! One thing though, which I think Dr Bruce Hollis explains well, is the reason why we should get vitamin D daily. He also thinks that vitamin D itself is very important, and not only 25(OH)D and 1,25(OH)D. The reason for this is that vitamin D can enter the cells, while 25(OH)D cannot, it has to go via the kidneys to produce 1,25(OH)D, which is then only for regulating calcium. Vitamin D can enter the cells, which has their own machinery to produce 1,25(OH)D. That's the path which, according to Hollis, is for our immune system. It's also vitamin D itself which gets into the mothers milk, so the baby can use it. Missing these points makes this video, rather incomplete, if Dr Hollis is right! I think vitamin D needs a new and full presentation, although I think it more likely will get the usual half-assed YT expositions. It's pretty sad that no one does good vitamin research nowadays! But we don't need to worry about these things. Just get our vitamin D daily, not weekly or monthly, and all will be just fine!
Outstanding interview! Kudos to the host for letting the Dr. speak 👍🙏
Dr Holick is great!
Holick will win Nobel !
Excellent video!

Amazing discovery. Thank you Dr. Holick
Dr Holick you are a great doctor.

No not the same, calcifidiol is a water soluble D and works in 2 to 3 hours. Its banned here in the UK but vets can give to animal's
