For the cutting board that you actually use, make sure that you, first off, never put it in the dishwasher or actually, anything that’s wood and then oil it every once in a while. You don’t even need to use a specific oil, just using olive oil or coconut oil is perfectly fine. The point is that you want to keep the wood moisturized and it will prevent it from cracking.
*get jelly boards for when cutting proteins. Those you can put in the dishwasher. Also, never put knives or scissors either. Although, I do admit that I sometimes put the scissors I used on proteins. I’m sorry if you already know any of this. It’s just that I can’t believe the amount of people that don’t know.
I am so sorry, but the comment, "empty shelves" just threw me for a loop. There are no empty shelves in my home. I have books in boxes. I have a Kindle so I don't have to find storage for books let alone "cute" pieces.

We had a similar issue to Alex with cutting boards and ended up getting a granite/marble one.

I think her decor style is whatever is trendy at the moment. That's why it has changed so much throughout the years. From gaudy glam to bohemian. I wonder if she has any authentic taste in decor
Maybe, but I also think most peoples taste change over the course of 11 years. Even grandmas renovate their homes every decade or so!
