Thanks for bringing Reading from the Depths to my attention - I subscribed to follow this new series. I haven't read The Long Walk yet but have it on my TBR so can enjoy that during the Read What You Own Challenge.
@@anotherbibliophilereads I haven't read any of the Bachman Books (have the version with Rage) but have planned to read Running Man on New Year's Day as it takes place in 2025. I hope to complete the 4 books by the end of 2025
Great wrap up, Greg and congrats on resisting the NYRB sale. These things are not easy to resist! I was thinking about trying the audio for In the Night for Cliff's book club too. The premise sounds good and I love the father/daughter aspect. Wow, Buddhist concepts within Stephen King is very interesting, I'll have to check out that channel! The Long Walk is definitely on my list for some day. Love seeing Teddy on his walk - my daughter has been asking to get a cat harness and leash for ours so she can talk them for walks, so I might have to put that on the Christmas list, lol. :D
@@bookstalgic To be fair, not all cats take to walking on a leash, some freak out. They don’t walk like dogs either. Most of the time Teddy is still, watching and waiting what’s in the grass or trees beyond. But give it a try.
That’s a ton of pages in a week! And an iron will! They love challenging us with sales! There was a book sale at my library yesterday. I convinced myself it was just the remnants I picked over last month or I wouldn’t have made it 😅😅 hope you knock the challenge out before the temptations get too strong! 😊
I still have memories about The Long Walk; and I read it when I was around 13, close to the age of the kids, and was engrossed by it. Didn't you do a review of the Repairman Jack books? Cheers.
SPOILER ?: I loved The Long Walk. I wonder if Stephen King saw it as young men being drafted or signing up in the army and going to war, etc., that they have to go on, trying hard not to get shot at. That's the image I get.
Thanks for the shout out! Here's hoping the series works in practice as well as it works in my head... The Adversary series sounds really interesting and I hadn't heard of it before. Looking into it, though, wow, it gets confusing... He originally wrote a trilogy, but then another trilogy which should be read interspersed with the original trilogy... then he wrote an additional 16 novels that mostly take place after book 3, though some of them after book 4 and some of them after book 5, and re-wrote book 6 to accommodate all the new lore and whatnot that he had created in those 16 novels... What? I think the series sounds fun. I don't know about 23-novel fun, though. What do you suggest? Just the (semi-) original 6?
I’m planning on reviewing The Adversary Cycle this week or next. It has a convoluted and interesting history . Best place to start is the beginning with The Keep.
@@anotherbibliophilereads I look forward to it! The crazy map of the books I saw on Reddit suggested that whether reading just the original six or the whole 23 you should still start with The Keep, then Reborn, and then The Tomb. It is after that point that things get a little wonky... Regardless, I have my own read what you own challenge going on, and while mine is more "inspired by" than "following the rules of," it still means this series will be down the ways a bit.
You’re storming through those books 😊
I'm impressed you resisted the NYRB book sale. You're doing great with the challenge.
They usually have another sale around June. I’ll be done by then.

The Long Walk is awesome. Reading From the Depths is a profound channel.

That’s a hefty amount of pages!

@@anotherbibliophilereads Yes, you're right. I think one of ours wouldn't like it very much :P
I love the kitty interlude! Hee hee! Another great week crushing pages!
Thanks so much!
One day I hope to record Teddy interacting with a neighbor’s dog. Teddy is teasing and having a blast and the dog isn’t sure what’s happening.

I haven't encounter a library sale yet. There are sometimes great deals.
@ oh they are dangerous! $.50 paperbacks and $1 hardbacks. I brought home two tote bags full last time I went 😅

I have mentioned The Tomb earlier this year. It’s my favorite of the Adversary Cycle.
Thanks Greg! I’m glad to contribute some pages to your read what you own project.😀
I wonder if the author of The Hunger Games read TheLong Walk.
I would bet a doughnut she read it and didn’t learn a thing about good storytelling in the process. Thanks Brian
Nightworld creeped me out just hearing about it!

I never connected the Long Walk with Vietnam until I saw it in Reading From the Depths .
@anotherbibliophilereads I don't know about that. I'll have to look it up. Thanks!
