Also twosun makes a really nice ts210 button lock that's just glassy smooth and great looking that melts in your hand you should give one a look great video as always
Because it's a high profit knife for Civivi cheap blade steel. I'd rather good blade steel over handle material! No such thing as too many deployment methods!!
I just got the same version and I’m carrying it today. I’m okay with the deployment options but I would be perfectly happy if it had only the thumb hole. I have a lot of Civivi knives and the Sentinel Strike is already one of my favorites. Time will tell but this one is going to get a lot use.
I like the 3 deployment options. There is a way to instantly deploy the knife no matter how you may be holding it. Some times deployment can take an extra moment if you are holding your knife in a weird way. This knife is totally high speed low drag. That opening hole reduces weight too so that works well, the thumb studs allow for better thumb stability on the back of the blade when cutting fast and hard, and the flipper tab is a mini finger guard. It's the ultimate set up.
The Twin Grails of my collection are the WE Ziffius, one in Hakkapella Damasteel, and one in 20CV satin, both are the black titanium/lightning anodized handle variant. Hands down my all time favorite knife. So I was stoked with being able to EDC a budget variant of the Ziffius design and picked up the Sentinel Strike. Really, really nice knife, and I can't get over how ultra light it feels for a knife with such a sizey blade. Carries like a feather but solid AF. And just like the Ziffius, the Sentinel Strike's flipper tab feels absolutely perfect when you button push it straight down. Definitely going to be carrying this one a lot. Civivi are total magicians at putting budget materials into their hat and pulling out beautiful knives that look, feel and function at a premium level far beyond their price point. Couldn't be happier with the Sentinel Strike. (P.S. front flippers suck lol)
At the very least having a thumbhole makes having a thumstud redundant and vice versa..kinda like having 2 different forks for the same person at the dinner table, can you use both sure but one does the job of the second just fine- some people do like having both but from what I've gathered people either want one or the other, or at least I do 😂 thanks for watching🤘
I bought one recently in red and black and sharpened it on my TSPROF KO3 to a mirror finish. The reason I went with it was beautiful there are 3 ways to open it. I didn’t wait for it , I was looking at Civivi knives and have a lot of them, then I saw this one. The fastest way to open it is with a finger flip. I have lots of knives but I have beef carrying this one everyday.
Mine holds its own with its high-priced brother, the Ziffius. They could have left the thumbstuds off, but they work well. Its main budget competition is the CRJB Ekko. I give the Sentinel Strike a slight edge. A Nitro V blade would cinch the win for the Civivi.
What up Rolls ? Hey last week I finally got my hands on a Protech Malibu in Magnacut I am happy with it something tells me I need this knife in my life . Peace 👍🏻
I got mine today and I agree with you, I could do without the thumb studs. I can use the flipper tab and hole with gloves on, the thumb studs are useless with gloves.
I still think my pyrite in titanium for 70 dollars is just a great lightweight carry for me much lighter than the steel version and smoother for some reason
Wharnie Wednesday just got more exciting! My friend just got the large Pyrite and it became his favorite knife overnight. he's gonna lose his mind over this one
This is well done for the price point. It is too busy though. Id take the thumb stud and the flipper off. The longer I'm in the hole, the more i respect clean and well done.
100%, I believe if it's going to have a thumb hole it doesn't need a thumb stud and vice versa..I'm OK with it having the flipper but it seems many people just wanted the thumbhole for deployment, maybe civivi will see this and take notes
@@Rollshambo I'm not gonna knock it, it's stupid good for the price, but I'll give the basis for that opinion. I'm sure they wil listen, as long as it gets the attention it deserves, they'll tweak it. I'm not a huge fan of flippers for purely esthetic reasons. The only ones tend to like are proprietary flippers, namely the ones that dont look like it was an afterthought lol. This one looks better than some, but a button lock itself is a deployment option. Just seems like an unnecessary disruption to the flow of the design. Hold it up and tell me it doesn't look much more refined imagining it without that tiny little pocket pecker sticking out 😂
It’s good imo . Like it a lot . Good detent for a button lock on my example . I even missed a few times which is 👍. It doesn’t feel like a 3.7” blade to me and it’s pretty light for it’s size
The "best" is subjective. You have to break them down by price category. Maybe 50 to 100 bucks. 100 to 150 etc. You have to appreciate the crisp clean lines of this knife.
Hey man, you should have a look at the newly released CJRB Frack. I think it's a great contender for "best budget button lock of 2023". I love the blade profile on that knife (it's very utilitarian and has more character than the Pyrite), no thumb stud or flipper for deployment (which is a good thing) and you can get frag pattern handles as well. 60 bucks for the AR-RPM9 blade with steel handles or 199 for S90V with titanium handles (if you want to go the "premium" route). Cheers 🍺
Thanks for sharing bud!👊🏻If this is similar to the Sencut Serene that I have I’m all for it my particular Serene is the best button lock I have even over all the CJRB button locks I have. It may be I just got lucky with it but it really is that good. I like the look a lot better of this so if it’s anything close I’m all for it
K110 (D2) is the only reason why i am probably not picking this knife up...really love my Ziffius and Exciton was excited for this budget version until the disappointing steel for the price..although in this case the Damascus version might just be the way to go as i understand its similar to 9CR steel
Speaking of Sharp and Shiny; I love the shiny of Rockstead. But, I don’t like the price. Do you know of any other knives that have beautiful shiny blades but are reasonably priced?
Loving this one though I agree with the one comment about it would be better (in my opinion) with just the hole deployment and without the thumb studs. Hope to grab one at some point
totally agree on the thumb stud complaint! I think thumb studs add unnecessary clunkiness to the profile of the blade. The thumb hole looks so much better, and would be better on it's own. I also dislike thumb studs for the issue with sharpening. My only thumb stud knife is a cheap SOG fielder, and I was halfway through sharpening it, when I realized the stud was getting mangled by my precision adjust. I personally hate thumb studs and prefer every single other deployment method over them. A flipper is my go-to, but a fuller or thumb hole will always beat a thumb stud.
I'm just astounded at how light it is despite its size, would have preferred a full aluminum integral design but the frn integral backspacer doesn't bother me so far
I recently bought this knife as my first button lock because of the multiple deployment options. Purchasing my first button lock I wasn’t sure which deployment option I would like best, and before I went ahead and bought an expensive premium button lock I wanted to spend time with this knife to try the different options to learn which I liked best. Feel free to reply and tell me your favourite deployment option and why…
It's the nature of many buttonlock flippers since buttonlocks don't have the traditional kind of ceramic detent ball that frame and linerlocks have, doesn't really bother me much since I primarily use the deployment hole
Dollar for dollar aluminum has many of the same properties as titanium at a much much better price..titanium is a tougher material though marginally and in many cases we will most likely not be testing a knife to the point where aluminum scales fail

Great knife!I am bewildered as to why Civivi used a D2 variant steel on this model rather than 14C28N or Nitro V Steel though.
Because it's a high profit knife for Civivi cheap blade steel. I'd rather good blade steel over handle material! No such thing as too many deployment methods!!
I am very very tempted by this design. I am loving everything about it.
I am so happy this gorgeous knife turned out so well, action and not making it 3.25" or smaller.
They executed this one really well
I just got the same version and I’m carrying it today. I’m okay with the deployment options but I would be perfectly happy if it had only the thumb hole. I have a lot of Civivi knives and the Sentinel Strike is already one of my favorites. Time will tell but this one is going to get a lot use.

I have the exact same version on the way from Blade HQ.
I agree that a thumb hole OR thumb studs would’ve been better.
Great stuff as always!
👊🏻

i am so stoked on this Damascus version
Too many deployment methods, WTF? Really? Dude this knife is bad ass and is worth the price they have on it all day long. Thanks for the review.

Beautiful, and the one I would have picked too
I was tempted by the red and black but ultimately decided that the plain look was just too smooth to pass up🙌
I just can't get over why they did the blade in K110.
I bought one recently in red and black and sharpened it on my TSPROF KO3 to a mirror finish. The reason I went with it was beautiful there are 3 ways to open it. Great in depth review. I bought the silver/satin version too. I’m waiting on it being imported now.
Solid review brother

Nice pickup on the Malibu! One of these days I'm going to cross that off my own list
I'm definitely getting one , I'm a huge fan of Civivi knives and large ones too.
I got mine today and I agree with you, I could do without the thumb studs. I can use the flipper tab and hole with gloves on, the thumb studs are useless with gloves.
Mine's coming today.. Can't wait..
Right on! I've been loving mine so far
For me it was the Civivi Spiny Dogfish. Freakin love it!
This look great man. Hope i can pick one up 👊
I still think my pyrite in titanium for 70 dollars is just a great lightweight carry for me much lighter than the steel version and smoother for some reason
If that had a Praxis blade I would have to own it!
Wharnie Wednesday just got more exciting! My friend just got the large Pyrite and it became his favorite knife overnight. he's gonna lose his mind over this one

It truly is the best button lock of 2023🎉
Got this variant and the vision fg Thursday and love them both.
It’s good imo . Like it a lot . Good detent for a button lock on my example . I even missed a few times which is 👍. It doesn’t feel like a 3.7” blade to me and it’s pretty light for it’s size
The more deployment methods the better for me anyway.. 😅
The "best" is subjective. You have to break them down by price category. Maybe 50 to 100 bucks. 100 to 150 etc. You have to appreciate the crisp clean lines of this knife.
Like the multiple deployment
I got mine 2 days ago and god damn its great. Smooth af. Thin ass blade. high retention k110.

A lot of people were waiting for this to drop.
Burglars need glass breakers too

Looks like it’s out of the way but I know what you mean . I’ve mangled a few thumbstuds going to a low angle
Got one the other day overall like it not a fan of the frn back piece and could do without the flipper. Overall happy with it not thrilled though
I'm just astounded at how light it is despite its size, would have preferred a full aluminum integral design but the frn integral backspacer doesn't bother me so far
You talked me into getting one
The best button lock is the Sencut serene, this is no2

San mai carbon fiber over a base of aluminum😊
I wanted to love this so bad. I just got mine today. Anyone notice the flipper is too easy to fail? That’s the most disappointing part for me.
It's the nature of many buttonlock flippers since buttonlocks don't have the traditional kind of ceramic detent ball that frame and linerlocks have, doesn't really bother me much since I primarily use the deployment hole
I prefer drop point poorman version.😅
Don't where it in grey swearpants like MC at blade show😂
Wearing Grey sweatpants with knives is like saying "is that a sebenza or are you just happy to see me" 😂
Aluminum vs Titanium
Dollar for dollar aluminum has many of the same properties as titanium at a much much better price..titanium is a tougher material though marginally and in many cases we will most likely not be testing a knife to the point where aluminum scales fail
And aluminum much easier machining.
Aluminum $
Titanium $$$ no more budget knife!
