Hey Klee sorry for the delay and thanks for the response, what am I doing wrong with these clips? That's the way I've always used them, is there a different way??
The round knob goes the other direction, away from the drum head...alongside the drum shell. Granted, they're not the greatest mounting system. Lacking a little in the versatility department. But also, they can be mounted on the bottom to mic the resonant head, which is what I usually prefer anyway. That's the side of the drum that produces most of the sound.
The clips are terrible. And you do have to use stands for the mics which is not a problem if you have short boom stands. Leaving the mic clip loose is a rookie mistake and you will have a swinging microphone during your performance. Plus, for smaller drums the SM-57 placement is way to close to the playing area of the drum, which makes them more-or-less a useless add-on. But, the price for the mics are great!
Do you have trouble screwing on the mic clip only to find its point of tighten happens to face the wrong direction? And the hexagonal bar doesn't help much in offering fine control? I like this mic set, but I hate the mounting system.
@@_REDIO_ is there a link to anything showing how to use those washers? I've been wrestling with these for a bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I usually have to tape down the clip because if you tighten the mic on the clip it doesn't face the right way..notice here he has to loosen it. While you are playing it, the drum mic rotates all over the place! it's not a very effective clip system.
That"s not the right way the clip goes on the drum.

Do I just have it upside down?

There's a plastic bag in the case with threaded washers to fix that. Its not meant to put the clip on the drum clamp by itself.
man......it definitely seems like a mount that was built by someone that never actually had to use it, smh
